Orchid among the Succulents

For timeline sense, the start happens after Futa gets a crush on Aone but the rest happens after he confesses.

"Have you seen the brat?" Kamasaki asked, poking his head into Sasaya's workstation. He was cleaning his area in preparation for customers.

"No," Kamasaki growled. As the supervisor, he was supposed to know where all his employees are. But for the last week, Futa has been going off somewhere.

"He's probably at the flower shop."

"Again?! How many times is he gonna go there?!"

Sasaya shrugs "At least he's only across the street."

Kamasaki sighed, walking out of the room and the shop. He hated having to go waste time and try and find him. Sure the shop was nice, white brick outside with beautiful flowers in the big window, but this was excessive.

He opened the door but didn't see him. Without preamble "Futa where the fuck are you?! Get your ass back to the shop!"

"Are you looking for something?" he heard someone say behind him.

"Yes have you seen-" he stops. He must have died and gone to heaven because there is no way this guy is human.

It's a short guy with black curly hair and black eyes. He's wearing a tan turtleneck sweater and black pants along with the shop apron. The piece de the resistance was a flower crown he was wearing. The flowers are yellow, but he can't tell what kind they are.

He just stares bluntly at the angel in front of him. He simply tilts his head in confusion "Yes? Is something wrong"

It's at this moment that Futa comes out from the bathroom. He takes one look at the scene in front of him and laughs and walks over.

"Oh hey Kamasaki. Moniwa, this is my supervisor Kamasaki. Kamasaki, this is the flowershop owner Moniwa."

"Uh, hi." He says dumbly.

"It's nice to meet you. Futa's told me about you. You're welcome anytime" Moni smiles brightly and Kamasaki is convinced this is an angel in front of him.

"....So, shouldn't we be heading back?" Kamasaki snaps out of stupor

"Y-yeah. Bye Moniwa" Moni gives him another smile and a wave as they leave.

He is so, so screwed.

"Can you quit being a creep?"

"Shut up. I'm not being a creep." Kamasaki was sitting the couch by the window, watching Moniwa water the flowers on the windowsill.

"This is pitiful. Just tell him how you feel." Kamasaki sighed, laying on the couch.

"It's not that easy! He's so pretty and cute and god! I wanna kiss him so bad."

Sasaya dragged a hand down his face. It's been 2 weeks, and for two weeks he's had to hear his coworkers complain about their crushes.

He's never gonna do something like this.

"Okay, you can do this," Kamasaki says to himself, standing outside the flower shop. Last week, Futa had asked Aone out, and now they were dating. For a week, he's been rubbing it in his face. Calling him a coward. He's gonna do this.....

.....He can't do this. Before he even realized what he was doing, he was holding a succulent in a teal pot. He had tried to ask Moni out but only ended up asking about plants. And now here he was, with a succulent on the counter of his shop.

"Don't laugh" Sasaya attempted to muffle his laughter, but Futa cackled.

"Nice job idiot! Do you even know how to take care of this?!"

"Shut up! And I was trying to ask him out!"

"And instead you chickened out and now you own a plant you don't know how to take care of." Sasaya crossed his arms

"Shut up. I'll try again. And I can take care of this. How hard can it be?"

Apparently, very hard. So far he hasn't managed to get anything close to a flirt, let alone a confession. And for his troubles, he has a few more succulents which he managed to keep alive so far.

But it wasn't all bad. He did learn some things about the owner. That his favorite flowers were lilies. That he loved his coffee overly sweet. That he had two cousins, one his age who he lived with and a younger one that lived with his parents in the town he was from. He even showed him a picture of them that he kept hanging on the wall. The younger one, Samuel, had shoulder-length fluffy light brown hair. Despite being three years younger than both his cousin and brother, he towered over them at 6 feet. He's studying to be a behavioral analysis if he remembers correctly. Luciel was studying psychology too, but he wanted to become a psychologist. And-

"Hey isn't that the girl you were with?"

"Hmm?" Moni had taken the picture off the wall so Kamasaki could get a closer look.

He pointed to the girl in the braid "You were setting up the shop with some guy in a suit and this girl"

Moni laughed "No...that was Luc. And the guy in the suit was my uncle, his dad"

"Oh."

"Don't worry. Lots of people assume he's a girl. He got called 'Lucy' a lot in school. He hates that nickname now" Moni chuckled, putting the picture back in its proper place, on the wall behind the counter.

"That makes me feel better at least, you guys must have been close"

"We are. We never really had any friends growing up. I was too nervous to make any and he got bullied severely"

"Oh...I'm sorry to hear that." He never really considered Moni wouldn't have friends. He was always so nice and sweet, who wouldn't wanna be friends with him (then again, he's kinda biased).

"I was never good with saying what I wanted....I always froze up or got too nervous... but flowers helped me express myself." He gently pulled a daisy out of the vase "Take the daisy for example. It can symbolize purity and innocence, or loyalty and trust. Even joy and love. In a way, I can talk without worrying what to say, you get it right?"

"Yeah, I understand." Moni smiled

"There was a big flower field by my house and I used to go there all the time. I grew my own flowers in my backyard. I used them to tell my family how I felt and it made me less nervous with time. I wanted to start my own flower shop, and help others do the same. Eventually, my uncle, who makes a lot of money, helped me out by buying this building. Part of me feels he did it to make up for not being around much in my childhood, but I digress. And now I'm here." He gently puts the daisy back in the vase.

"Wow." He didn't really know what to say. He only had the job he has now because I needed the money and ended up liking it but Moni....he had a dream. And he was working hard for it.

Kamasaki had to resist the urge to kiss him.

"Hey Aone." Kamasaki didn't look up from his laptop. Like clockwork, Aone was here to go get his boyfriend "Futa will be a minute, he's working with a client."

"Ah. So you are dating Moniwa-San finally?"

"Huh?" He looked up from the screen. Aone was admiring the purple flower in the pot. Moniwa had given it to him that morning. It looked expensive and he try to pay, but Moni wouldn't let him.

"It may be a bit out of your comfort zone, but it's really easy to take care of. I want. You to have it." Kamasaki had set it on the counter, with plans to take it home once it was over. But what did he mean by dating Moniwa?

"This is an orchid. It means love. Moniwa-San gave it to you when he confessed, right?" Hold up.

'"Why would he confess?"

"Omfg-He likes you dumb fuck! This was his way of telling you but he chickened out!" Sasaya, who apparently had been listening to the conversation, yelled from his workstation

"HE WHAT-"

Aone just nodded "He has for a while now. He was planning to tell you, but it seems like he failed." Futa had finally finished with his customer and walked over to his boyfriend, gave him a kiss, and together they left. Kamasaki was left there, dumbfounded.

"He likes me?"

Kaname locked the door behind him, finally finished with closing down. It was late, 10 pm. If he hurries, he'll be able to make it to the bus stop. It was easier and cheaper to take the bus than pay for parking. Plus, he didn't have a car.

He starts walking but hears someone calling his name.

"Moniwa! Hey Moniwa wait!" He stops and turns his head. Kamasaki is running up to him. Strange, shouldn't the shop be closed by now?

"Huh? Oh Kamasaki, what is it-"

"Do you like me?"

"I-what?"

"The flower, it means love. Aone said you liked me, so you like me?"

"I..." he flushes and looked to the side. So maybe he thought he was attractive. Maybe he waited every day for him to come over just to talk. Maybe he complained about it to Luc until he told him to shut up so he could study. Maybe Luc told him that if he didn't confess he would throttle him. "Y-yeah. I had a card and everything but I was too scared to tell you. I think you're really cool and out of my league and I couldn't help it and!-"

"I like you too."

"Huh?" Kaname moves his head to look at him. He's blushing too."

"I thought you were an angel when I first saw you. I was starring at you through the window like a creep. I thought you were really cute and out of MY league" The color in Moni's cheeks deepens.

"God...and I pushed Aone to confess but I couldn't. I'm such a hypocrite..."

"I pushed Futa, well kind of. So...wanna get coffee tomorrow?"

"Y-yeah...sounds good." He smiles, which Kamasaki returns. They continue to stand there, perfectly content in this moment until Moni's alarm goes off.

He grumbles, reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out his phone before his eyes widen "Crap. I missed the bus. I better call Luc to come and get me."

"I can take you home."

"A-are you sure?"

"Yeah, I mean" He shrugs "It's my fault you missed it. It's the least I can do."

"Okay. Thank you." Moni couldn't help but slip his hand into the taller ones as they walked.

"Thank you again. I really appreciate it." Kaname said as the other parked outside his apartment.

"Hey, like I said. Least I could do." Moni gave him a soft smile as they sit in silence.

"So...coffee at 10 tomorrow?"

"Y-yeah sounds good."

"...You gonna go?"

"Oh right! Sorry!" He got so caught up in the moment he almost forgot where he was. Kaname unbuckles his seatbelt and opens the door. He starts to get up but stops. He sits back down before Kamasaki can react, he kisses his cheek before finally leaving.

"Bye Kamasaki!" he says rather quickly before shutting the door. He can't believe he did that.

But as Yasushi watches him go inside, he touches the area he kisses before smirking.

'Suck it Futakuchi'

Succulents: Tenacity, strength, and selflessness love.
Orchid: thoughtfulness, refinement, fertility, beauty, charm, and of course: love
Oh, and Moni's flower crown is made of daffodils cause....idk. They mean rebirth, new beginnings, and hope. I just picked them cause I thought they were pretty.
Same things with Lilies. It's a pretty and graceful flower that fits Moniwa to me. They mean purity, fertility, beauty, and devotion.
