62 | Bastard Child
May
I wasn't sure who it was that said it, but I know that somebody told someone else that Maddie was pregnant, and in the blink of an eye, it spread like a wildfire. So, seeing that I'm starting my own little series, I figured why not talk to the girl in question.
"Madison Park," I said as I approached her with my camera out, "is it true that you're having a bastard child?" Maddie looked at me as if I had lost my mind, "May, what the hell is this?" she asked, looking at my phone with judging eyes. "What are you doing?"
"Um, vlogging" I answered, as if Maddie should've known exactly what was going on. Catch up."

Aubrey came to school, but left halfway through the day, because she had a routine checkup at the doctors. That wouldn't be so bad if Hailey had came to school, but she fucking didn't, so I had no gal pals to go home with. Instead, I was stuck with Nick, May, and Jason, whom weren't so bad, but just weren't "let's go home together" material.
I became overcome with more and more anxiety as the day came closer to an end, which was weird because I've walked home alone many times before. Maybe it was my Haitian senses tingling, but I ignored it because I was in pretty good standing at this point, so nobody was gonna confront me about anything, and even if they did, Nick was here.
When the bell rang I texted Nick to see where he was. He told me that I could just wait for him, and I completely forgot about football. "Maybe I could" I texted back, but as I did so Aubrey texted me, telling me she was home. Did I really wanna stick around for a few hours and do nothing?
"Sorry, but I have something I really need to do before five" I lied in text to Nick. "I'll see you tomorrow though, stay safe babe." Nick hearted my message, and returned the "stay safe" bit. I grabbed my stuff and hurriedly rushed out of school, because my anxiety was piling up in me like a football time after winning the state finals.
Once I got outside, I took a deep breath, "calm down" I said to myself, "you have nothing to be internally freaking out over." I saw a red car in the parking lot that I've never seen before. It was parked awkwardly in the corner. I looked to my left and saw a white cat that was most likely a stray, passing through. You notice a lot of shit when you're paranoid.
I put my head down and went on my phone. As I left the lot and got on the main road, the red car that I had noticed before pulled up next to me. "Hi Nova!" an older, somewhat heavy set, brown lady said to me. "Do you remember me? I'm auntie Janice."
I sighed, realizing that I did remember this aunt. I had these two aunts that were twin sisters, one had a dead child, and lost her mind, so she ultimately killed herself. For a while everybody believed that she killed herself because of this aunt that sat in a red car right in front of me right now. She was dubbed "the evil aunt" amongst our family.
"Why don't you come in? Let's go for a ride!" Aunt Janice suggested, but I shook my head. "I have somewhere to be right now" I lied, "but I can catch up with you later." Aunt Janice stared at me blankly, "your mom told me to get you" she admitted, which I didn't believe because why didn't my mom call, text, or even alert me that my aunt, whom isn't even from Orlando, is getting me?
"I don't even talk to my mom anymore" I stated, "so I doubt that. But I really have to go somewhere." I began walking again, but Janice slowly followed behind. I stopped once more and turned back to face her. "Do you need something?" I asked, and she didn't speak for a moment. "I don't wanna do this the hard way Nova" she said, "get in the car."
"So you're gonna fucking kidnap me?" I asked, getting annoyed. "I'm not getting in the car. I have stuff to do and even though I know you, I barely know you, and I'm uncomfortable. Leave me alone."
Before I could react, I was hit with what I believe is a stun gun, and dropped to the floor.
"Help!" I yelled like my life depended on it, which it might've. We were still pretty close to the school and kids were all over the place, so I had hoped that someone would help me. "Help! I'm being kidnapped! Call the police, help!"
May
"Sophie!" I yelled, "look!" I pointed over at a girl rolling on the floor while being dragged into a red car by a bigger lady. The girl's yelling was faint from where Sophie and I stood, but I could still understand her. "Wait, that's Nova!"
"Damn" Sophie said with a lack of enthusiasm in her voice, "then maybe we should let her handle that. Karma is one bitch aint it?" I looked at Sophie with disgust, "now you're acting like Brynn" I told her, as I folded my arms. "Nova and I talked about that situation, I'm not mad at her. Karma will never come to someone in a life or death situation."
Sophie sighed, "you're right" she said, "I'm sorry, I've been around it for so long that I still have Brynn tendencies. But how are we supposed to help her?" I looked at the incident unfolding for a moment, thinking. As the lady practically threw Nova into the car, I turned back to face Sophie.
"I'm gonna call the police" I said, "in the meantime, you contact anybody you know might have a connection to Nova." Sophie nodded, "Nick is probably at the football field, I'm gonna go there."
Nick
"Nick!" Somebody yelled in the distance as they ran towards the football field, "Nick!"
"Oh hell no" Jason said as we all stopped what we were doing to watch some bitch run over, "that better not be the crazy heffa from sophomore year. Remember when she wrote 'I love Nick' on her ass and then streaked across the football field?"
"Oh that's Sophie" I said with relief, now being able to see her better. "She's May's friend."
"Nick" an out of breath Sophie said as she approached the team, "I don't have your contact information so I had to run here, but your girlfriend just got kidnapped." My eyes shot wide and I dropped the football that I had been holding.
"What?" Lewis, Cannon, Wilson, George, Jason, and I asked in unison. Matt took his helmet off and began walking towards us. "Are you sure she got kidnapped?" he asked, "because that's serious."
"She got hit, or shot with something and wasn't able to run away" Sophie began, "she was yelling and screaming for help and the person dragged her by the foot into the car." My heart sank, "were you with someone?" I asked, "did someone already call the police?" Sophie nodded, "May is in front of the parking lot, she called the police but she told me to get you or whoever could help."
"Football could wait" Jason said, "let's go Nick" I nodded, "Lewis if you wanna come, you can." Lewis nodded, "I might as well. Matt, Cannon, y'all are the captains tonight. Try your best." Matt nodded, "good luck you guys" he said, and I put my hand up like a driver would when given the right of way, "thanks man."
Aubrey
"Why won't this fucking hair come out?" I said aloud as I used my eyebrow plucker to attempt to remove a hair on my shin. "I hate this stupid metal thing."
Just as I was about to put down the plucking device, my phone began ringing beside me. It was Jason.
"Shouldn't he be at practice?" I asked myself aloud as I picked up the phone. "Hey Jason, why aren't you at practice right now?" Jason was breathing heavily as if he had been running, "Where are you?"
"I'm home?" I said in a confused tone, "why? Where are you?" Jason tried his best to control his breathing, "Nova got kidnapped, you need to come down to Norwood like now Aubrey."
"What?!" I asked, standing up. "What do you mean she got kidnapped?" I could hear Jason clearing his throat on the other end of the line, "some lady in a red car forced her to get in, she shot Nova with a stun gun and all. Nova was screaming for help."
"O-Okay" I replied in a shaky tone, "I'm coming." I hung up and walked over to the bathroom, where I looked into the mirror for a quick second. "God, spirit above, whoever, whatever, please let Nova be okay" I pleaded, with tears nearly forming. "Please!"
A tear finally rolled down my face, and once I saw that one tear, I let loose and began crying like a baby. I was just getting to where I wanted to be with Nova. I never felt this way about anybody else.
I took deep breaths and threw on a dress shirt type of thing. I wore spandex shorts under just because, and sneakers in case I needed to run at any given moment. I've never really been in this situation, but I grabbed a knife from the kitchen as well.

"Calm down!" my aunt yelled at me, "you're not gonna die or even get hurt. I'm taking you to Tallahassee." I tried to sit up correctly, but my body was still tingling bad. I managed to put my phone in my bag so that I wouldn't lose it though.
I was laying in this awkward position, not even buckled in. If I could kick the door open, I could roll out, but I just had to be smart about where I did it because if it was on the freeway, I'd be fucked.
I couldn't hear skidding, and I was seeing dust particles, so I realized where we were soon enough. "Mountain Bike trail" I thought, "I'm good!"
As if my life depended on it, which in a way it kinda did, I used both of my feet to kick the door open, and basically just slithered out. My aunt was evidently new to this kidnap shit, because I didn't have any ropes or wires tying me down, and the doors were still incredibly easy to open.
"Help!" I yelled as I limped, and saw that my aunt stopped the car. "Get back here!" she yelled, as she too left her car and attempted to jog towards me. Even though I could barely feel shit, I knew I had to just power through it and run as much as I could.
Aubrey
"Hi" I said to an officer that had been talking to Nick, "Nova currently lives with me." Nick looked at me funny and shook his head, "that's just her friend" he assured the officer, "I'm her boyfriend." I rolled my eyes, "my name is Aubrey Bryant, I live on 72 Summerville Avenue, and if you don't believe me I can have my mom come. Nova's mom hurt her one night so she came to live with me." The officer nodded, "whats Nova's mom's name?"
"I don't know" I said, "I believe they have the same last name, and I know where they live, but I don't truthfully know her real name. Want me to call up my mother?" The officer nodded, and Nick looked at me in pure annoyance. It then donned on me that Nick never actually knew that Nova lived with me.
I walked away for a moment to call my mother. Thankfully she wasn't asking a million and one questions like she normally would. I just asked her to come to Norwood, and she said she was on her way. I also mentioned that she should come from a side street and not the direct one because the road was blocked off by law enforcement.
Nick approached me as soon as I had gotten off the phone with my mom. "You live with her?" he asked rather rudely, "and since when did this happen?" I shrugged, "I can't remember how long" I answered, "maybe a month?" Nick folded his arms and clicked his jaw, "so a month and nobody said shit to me about it. Do you two sleep in the same room?"
"Nick, do you hear yourself right now?" I questioned him. "Your girlfriend is missing and instead of focusing on that, you're worried that she lives with me." Nick cocked an eyebrow, "well I wouldn't be concerned if you didn't mention that you two lived together" he said, "it was unnecessary." I squinted my eyes at him, "no it wasn't" I said, "I mentioned that and what happened because who knows, what if her own mother is behind this?"
"I guess" Nick replied, "but I think it's best if Nova lives with me after all this." This time I was the one folding my arms and stiffening my jaw. "She isn't a pet Nick" I said frankly, "she's a human being. If she wants to live with me, she can and will. Stop being so fucking jealous." I walked away again so that I could make another phone call to my mom.
Nova
As I ran into the distance, not even knowing where I was going, my phone began ringing in my bag. I turned and saw no sight of my aunt, so I opened my bag and grabbed my phone. "Aubrey!" I said aloud, as I answered. "Aubrey! Hello, can you hear me?"
Aubrey
"Wait, Nova?" I asked, realizing that I didn't call my mom. "Oh my gosh, Nova! Where are you? We're looking for you everywhere, are you okay?"
"I don't know where I am!" Nova said, "I can send my location, but is there anyway that the police can ping my phone or something?"
"One second" I said as I ran to the police officer. "I was able to reach her" I said excitedly. "She wants to know if you guys can ping her phone and get her exact location." The officer nodded and walked back to his car with my phone. After a minute or two, he came back out with a walkie-talkie and my phone.
"Send an emergency helicopter to TGA airport please" he said into his device, "we have a missing teenager in that area." The officer then spoke into my phone. "Young lady" he said, "help will be there within five to ten minutes. Stay in the area but if you see your kidnapper approaching you, run. Keep us updated."
"Okay" Nova obliged, as my mom pulled up at Norwood, obviously shocked to see what was unfolding. There was crime scene tape everywhere, police officers conducting traffic, and footprints that belonged to either Nova or her kidnapper, that were blocked by small boxes. This whole thing was scary.
Nova's mom
I heard a hard, consistent knock on my door. I didn't think it was Nova, but I wasn't sure of who it could have possible been. "Who is it?" I called out.
"Orlando police department" a male voice answered, sounding stern. "Open the door ma'am."
"Hello?" I said in an attempt to sound innocent as I slowly crept the door open. I had hoped that maybe my looks were good enough to pull me through whatever the officer was about to tell me, although there was no doubt in my mind that it was gonna be something regarding Nova.
"Ma'am are you not aware that your child was abducted this evening?" the cop asked, already seeming annoyed with me, "and not a single call was made by you. Everybody called the police but you."
"Because it's still day time" I said, acting confused. "Why would I report my child missing if it's day time and she could just be out with friends?" The officer folded his arms. "When was the last time she was with you?" he asked, "because you wouldn't have called the police regardless."
"What are you trying to say?" I spat, and the officer looked at me. "I believe you know something about what happened to your child today" he said, "because it just so happens that she was kidnapped by someone she knows, that is related to you."
Nova
"Are you okay? Do you need water? Did someone touch you?" Aubrey asked as she, May, Sophie, Jason, Hailey, Nick and Lewis stood outside of the Orlando police station, where I was being brought. My shirt was soiled from when I had to roll out of the car, I was sweaty from running, and I had several cuts on my face that I don't know the origin of.
"Sorry I just came" Hailey said also approaching me, "I just found out what was happening not too long ago. Are you okay?" Before I could speak, Nick did. "You guys are overwhelming her" he insisted, which wasn't exactly true, but I didn't say anything.
"I'm okay" I said after a brief moment of silence, "I was just in a moving car. Nobody did anything to me. I'm just a little confused." Moments after I finished my sentence, a cop car pulled up. The officer stepped out and pulled my mom out from the back, she was in handcuffs.
"You're sick as hell!" Aubrey yelled at my mom, startling me. "This is your only child, why would you willingly put her in harms way?" I bit my lip, realizing what may have happened. My mom probably just didn't want me near Aubrey and attempted to illegally send me away.
"Wow" Hailey said, as we all stood there and watched my mom, who was clearly embarrassed, walk into the police station. "That's sick."
"Nova, do you wanna spend the night at my place?" Nick asked, which prompted a nasty look from Aubrey. "She stays with me. Stop trying to one-up me or something" Aubrey demanded to Nick, causing me to blush a little.
"Well I see that you two already had a convo about it" I began, "but Nick maybe we can talk about that later. Right now I'm not really in the mood to argue about where I'll be staying, I just wanna rest."

"Okay" Aubrey said as I sat on her bedroom floor, still all bruised and battered. "You can go in now, the shower is room temp because I don't know what you like, but you can always fix it if anything." I smiled, "have you showered today?" I asked.
"In the morning" Aubrey replied as she stood at the doorway of her room, "why?" I shrugged, "I'm in pain" I sorta lied, "and might need help." Aubrey chuckled then smiled, "let's go" she said, seeming to catch on to what I really wanted. I smiled. Aubrey had me take off my clothes before I got into the bathroom, so that she could put them in her hamper.
