Part 1 - The Games Chapter 1

Breathe in
Breathe out

I stick the string of my bow to my lips.

Breathe in
Breathe out

The deer is in front of me. 10 meters. Be quiet.

I put the bow into a perfect position. I haven't seen a deer in these parts for 2 years. My hand slowly lets the string go and it gets through the air with a silent sound. A scream. Then quiet.

I walk to it and take my arrow back, placing it in the gag. I take the lifeless body by the legs and start pulling it. I get soon out of the forest and then to the non-electrified fence that was supposed to be electrified between the small city of Vault and the outside world.

It wasn't always like this. When I was born, we were a free Galaxy, but after the Clone Wars finished, everything changed. The Rebel Games appeared. I like to call them Rogue, because you are kind of free in the games. No rules. The only objective: survival.

I throw the killed deer over the fence and I get throgh the metal strings. I start pulling it again to the city. On the way there I see my sister waiting for me. She takes the other pair legs and we carry it to the butcher's. We will have food for tonight.

We get out of there with the money for three breads and 1 leg of the animal. "You go home and prepare something with it. I go take some bread." I say and she nods. Her face reminds me of our mother. Her eyes, her nose, her mouth, everything is there. In the same thing, I look like our father. I used to be told I have the same eyes as him. He thought in the there was stardust. That was my nickname for him.

I turn a sharp left on the way home to the baker's area. I open the door and see the baker himself. "Have you got any animal for me?" He asks.

"Yes." I say and get out of my other bag a bird. "I also have money." I say as I put the coins on the glass. "I want every single bread that this is worth." I say. He nods and gets out 4 breads.

"Wait a second." He says. He gets something from behind him. "I know in two weeks it's your birthday. I made a cake for you if you get into the games during that time."

"You shouldn't have-"

"You deserve it." He says. I smile for a few seconds and get the foods.

"Thank you." I say as I get out of the shop. I walk the half of mile to my home: an old house with a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. I open the door and get to the kitchen. I place the breads on the left and put the cake in the middle. I sit down in the chair and stare at it. 16 years ago, I was still in the belly of my mother. 16 years ago the Empire didn't even exist. 16 years ago we were a happy family.

"What's that?" She asks, pointing a few seconds to the cake.

"The baker. Free. For the day in two weeks. Not that I care so much about it." I say and look outside the window.

"Don't be so rude to yourself."

"You cut your skin 3 centimetres last year with a knife. You still have a wound." I say. She doesn't say anything amd gets back to the food.

"You know I'm only 1 year younger than you."

"I know. That's why I care so much about you. You know too much to give up." I say. The sky is grey and the grass outside is a darker green.

"So the extraction tomorrow, huh?" She says. "How many times is your name?"

"30 times." I say and look at her. "At you?"

"1 time." I nod.

"Good." She stops the cooker and puts the meat into the plates. She turnes around and I get two peaces of bread for each other. I push the cake to let the plates some space and take our forks.

Silence.

In two minutes we finish. She cooked only a small part of it. She learnt well.

I place the plates into the sink and wash them. I put them on the table again and take a knife to cut the cake. I'm curious what a cake tastes like. My sister has that spark in her eyes my mom had when she was happy.

I place the two pieces on the plates and put my fork into it. The juice from it starts to get in the plate. I place the small piece I took into my mouth and feel a fantezy of tastes together. I close my eyes. I slowly get another small pice to savurate the simple moments of happiness I have in my life. The pieces I cut out for me and my sister are small. We need to have for many other days. I bet that we won't go to the games.

I wash the plates again and place them in the cupboard. My eyes are starting to close. I need sleep. I only wake up at 4 a.m. and fall asleep at 1 a.m.

I get into my pijamas and throw myself in the bed near my sister. I wrap my hands around her and push her thin body next to mine. She huggs me back.

"Goodnight, Jyn."

"Goodnight, Katniss."

"Galen, we were this close in providing peace and security to the Galaxy."

"You're confusing piece with terror." My father says to a man in a white costume. He rolls his eyes. Suddenly, my mom runs there. I cover Katniss's mouth with my hand .

"Oh, look, it's Lyra back from the dead!" The man in suit says as my mother shows the gun she had at her chest.

"You won't take him!"

"Lyra, put it down."

"Oh, of course I'm not. I'm taking all of you. You, your children-"

"As hostages."

"As heroes of the Empire." My mom grips the weapon tighter in her hand. "Do it." He says. As she fires, one of the black troopers that were with him shots her and she falls to the groud. I press my hand harder onto Katniss's mouth as I try to hide her scream from the man in the suit and the troopers.

I woke up with a bang. The dark still visible outside. 3:54 a.m.

I lift into a sitting position and feel the tears running down my cheeks. I bring my legs to my chest and burry my face into them. That's the day I lost my parents. She died and he was captured. Saw Gerrera, the guy that won the games at once got us here. He saved us. My father never came for us, like he didn't even care. I was 6. Katniss was 5. I raised her. Saw never had time for us. He stayed with us a month, as long as he tought me how to fight. I learned Katniss. Saw was always busy with the games. Or drunk.

I wipe the tears from my cheeks and get up. The Coruscant ship flies over us to the city hall. I open a wardrobe and look for my mother's dresses. She had only two. Her wedding one and a blue one. That one is for Katniss. She always looked good in blue. I prefer one that Saw gave me. It is a brown-green one. And it was in two pieces: the dress and a tunic above it. He always knew I was born to be a fighter.

I place the blue dress on the bed, near her, and the kyber my mother used to wear at her neck. Trust the force. That were her words when she gave it to us. She put it around my neck and kissed our heads.

I get to the bathroom and warm some water. If all the Galaxy is going to see the mudd on me they'll know I went hunting. That means death. I can't live Katniss alone.

I get into the water and with a sponge get all the dirt from my feet, legs, arms and hands. As I breathe, my chest gets out of the water, making me feel cold.

After all the cleaning process I made to myself, I get out of the muddy water and wrap the towel around me, I see the sun starting to rise. I enjoy seeing this nature wonder. I throw the water outside and get into the dress. It still suits me. I put my hair into my usual one bun and prepare breakfast: two slices of bread and some tea.

I sit down and look at the clock. 6 a.m.

Katniss starts to move slowly and gets up. "Morning." She says.

"I've already warmed you some water." She nods. I look at my hands and wait for her to finish.

7:30 a.m.

The selection starts in half an hour. We've already eaten and I was fixing her hair. "Ready?" I ask her.

"Yes." She says. She's hiding something from me because she looked down at her shoes.

"Let's go." I say. We walk in silence to the city hall. More teenagers come with us and we soon arrive to the square in front of it. They check our presention and put our blood as signature. Katniss gets near me. "My name is 15 times." I stop.

"What?" I turn to her. "Katniss, you are the most important person in my life!"

"I thought it would bring us more food!" I put my head in my palms as a few tears go down my cheeks. She's the only one I have. I take her hand hardly.

"Get into your line. We'll talk after." I say to her and I get to my line. My eyes hurt and my hands shake. Hope it will all be well.

The Empire song starts and on stage walks Mara Jade, the representant of Coruscant. She has her hair died red this time. Last year it was green. "Welcome, welcome, to the 14th edition of the Force Games! May the Force be forver in your favour! The ladies first!" She says and walks to the bowl there. She takes one ticket and goes back to the micro. She opens it and I freeze at her words. "Katniss Erso!"

A.N.

So, many people requested this, sorry for the delay.

First of all, I would like to thank SergeantJynErso and her description of Jyn. Helped very much on building Jyn and Katniss.

Second, I would like to say that in the first part, no Jassian is happening, ok?

May the Force be forever in your favour.
