Chapter 4
Aaron's POV
I watched as the black dragon flew away. Some injured, but they fled being greatly outnumbered. They made the right choice to flee. The red dragon that saved me landed right in front of me. The woman riding on top was no where to be seen. I heard a loud thud behind me. Oh I spoke too soon.
I turned around to see lean woman in black scaled armor. I was right the dragon queen has returned and she looked pissed.
"Aaron it's good to see again." Scarlet almost sounded sincere. Keyword almost.
"Thanks... for saving me and the society." I say unsure of what to do next. Scarlet just gave me a curt nod and turned to the 5 dragons behind her. They seemed to be talk telepathically, don't know if that was possible. All Scarlet had to do was look them in eye, they flew off towards the edge of town without hesitation.
"Lets go inside we have some catching up to do." I say.
Scarlet POV
I don't know if following Aaron inside was a good or bad thing. I followed behind him and kept my guard up as we passed men in uniform, with guns at their sides. As I walked past them they got tense, nice to know they remembered me.
I was taken the same office where I jumped out the window and shot Aaron's father. That will be an awkward conversation if we ever get to it, I hope not. I sat down on Aaron't desk, crossed my legs and arms and kept one finger on the hilt of my dagger. You can never be to careful.
"Why did you come back?" Aaron asks me bringing a chair in front of where I was sitting.
"I found out you were going to be attacked by insane rogue dragons, it was the right thing to do to come and protect the place I once called home." I answer simply.
"That makes sense," He pauses for a bit, " I have a couple of generals who want to know what your reason is for coming back. They all know you hate kind of hated this place. Would you be okay meeting with them and talking to them?" Aaron says sounding concerned. This surprised me, a lot.
"I didn't always hate it here..." I say under my breath.
"What?" Aaron questions
"Nothing, I'll meet with your generals."
"Okay, I will take you to our conference hall."
....
I had never seen a table so big in my life. They must have to shout at meetings because of the large size the round and long wooden table. There was 15 men and about 10 women there. Their uniforms were gray and most wore medals or branded symbols on the their shoulders. There gazes were cold and calculating so I sent a look right back at them guess it most of been scary because one of them flinched. Aaron went to the head of the table and took a seat at the head of the table. I on the other hand stood in the corner of the room and leaned my back up against the wall.
"Why are you here?" One man said. He was the closest to Aaron and was most likely held the most respected or the feared the most. His tone of voice was filled with pride, too much pride if you ask me.
"Feel like I just answered this question." I say
"Why have you come back?" A women asks, she seemed nicer then Mr. I have a big ego, that's what I'm naming the first dude who talked to me.
"I wanted to eat something other then fish. I don't have much of anything else where I live." I said and laughed a little."I came back because I found out that you were going to be attacked by powerful dragons and I felt the need to come and help."
"We don't need it." A woman said towards the end of the table. She glared at me, which didn't scare me in the slightest, I mean I live with dragons for crying out loud.
"Are you sure about that?" I spit back. This is exactly why I didn't want to come back. As much as I wanted revenge on the Rogue I still wasn't thrilled about helping these people.
"Yes we are sure. So you can take your over sized flying lizards and leave" Some man said and his glaze shifted towards the exit of the room. I saw Aaron give him a stern look. I'm going to pretend he didn't say that, I was going to say something but was cut off.
"We don't care if the dragons you brought are here to help us."
"Dragons are dragons, they should all be eliminated, it's safer for us humans if they are dead."
"The law has changed you all know that" Aaron says bring attention back to himself. Another general scoffed at his remark and added.
"Even if you were to stay and help us what could you even do without the dragons at your side?"
"That's right, can you even fight without a bow and arrow?"
Oh they are going to wish they never said that. As if by reflex I felt my finger tips brush against the many small sharpened scales at my sides and up my sleeves.
Quick as lightning I pulled the razor sharp knife like scales and threw at the people who made those nasty comments. Of course I didn't hit them but I threw the scales so they sunk into the wood table right in front of where they were sitting. They got what they deserved, no one talks bad about me or my family. I need to make sure they know that.
"I dare you to speak badly of the dragons again and this time the dagger wont be going in the table." I begin, my voice deadly calm." You are right though, in some ways. The dragons are at my side, they trust me and they will listen to me. As far fighting goes I don't think I need you need another demonstration." It got really silent after I was done talking, I wonder why.
"Well I guess if no one wants to talk I'll be leaving now." I say as walk towards the double doors at the other side of the room.
"Scarlet wait-" Aaron calls my name. I don't listen. I burst through the doors and moved my hair so that the flames on the side of my neck could be seen. I showed it proudly as I marched out.
