Chapter 22

"What's next then?"

"We're flying to that mountain,"

...

Scarlet

"I don't understand why they're so persistent," I say frustrated. Aaron and I rode on Bullet. She and a few other dragons came with her.

"You said they were after your power," Aaron mentions and his grip tightens as speed up.

"How would they go about getting that, it's not like I would ever join them..."

"Does it matter what they think?"

"No..."

The mountain was much clearer now and we would be able to land soon. From above us I could hear dragons in the distance. There was no way to tell if we had heard friends or enemies. Bullet hearing it too pushed herself harder and we swooped down the ground. The landing wasn't smooth, my grip slipped slightly and Aaron had to grab me so I wouldn't be flung forwards. We both slid off Bullet. I quickly scanned my surrounds, some of it looked familiar... I couldn't be sure though. My time spent here was hazy.

"There!" I shout and point out the cave where I saw the riders last. That I did recognize, I remember this clearly.  Aaron and rushed off that way. I was running there but my head felt weighed down slightly. It was as if I could feel the presence of every dragon in the area. I could almost map out where they all were. It was faint but something told me there were plenty of dragons coming back to the mountain. Whether they the Rogue or not I couldn't tell. Needless to say I didn't want to be here to find out.

"Hello!" Aaron called out in the dark cave, something moved. I looked forward and in the dim light  I could barely make out their silhouettes. There were many staring back at us.

"I can get you all out of here," I said offering my hand out to the darkness. I'm surprised by how fast someone grabs it. A small hand enclosed in mines.

"Let's go," I lead them out of the cave and back into the sun. The tiny hand belonged to a young girl, dressed in rags and dirty all over. There were less than 30 riders. All of them dress in shabby clothes. They ranged from all ages. There were a few children, most were adults, and a couple of elderly. There was less then what I thought, maybe I was seeing double back then. With Bullet and others that should be enough to fly them all out. I kept moving forward toward where we landed but they stopped in their tracks. The little girl pulling me back. I could see they were terrified they looked at Bullet with fear. Dragon riders scared of dragons. What were the Rogue like with them...

"They won't hurt you, I promise you are safe," They didn't seem convinced. None moved

"These dragons listen to Scarlet, if you cannot trust them... then trust her," Aaron speaks up. I looked at him, he nodded. The riders didn't seem any less afraid but they continued on. Warily looking at the dragons as they got closer. Aaron began helping the riders onto dragons. I lifted the young girl onto Bullet. When I set her down my head began to spin. My vision became blurry and my surroundings faded. Then when everything became clear I wasn't... Was I flying? Looking from someone else eyes or eye. I could only see from one eye. I dawned on me. The rogue leader, I was looking through his eye. He was flying fast towards the mountain with at least 3 dragons with him. I tried to pull away from this 'vision'. It was as if I was glued and needed to pry myself away from it.

"Scar?" I could hear a voice, "Scarlet,"

I came back and was standing on the ground at the mountain base. Aaron was right in front me.

"What did you see?" Aaron asks holding me steady. It felt like the ground was swaying beneath me.

"The rogue are coming back, we need to go," I tell and climb onto Bullet. We're going to take off but something stops me. I realize Dylan isn't here. I tap the little girl.

"Do you know where Dylan is?" She slowly nods. She points at the cave where I was being kept. I give my thanks and hop off Bullet.

"Scar! What, Where are you going?" Aaron calls out to me as I rush towards the cave. I didn't respond.

The inside smelled of smoke and something else... blood. I gagged at the next scent, I coughed. This smell, definitely burned flesh.

"Dylan?" I ask no one in particular. Then I see him, in the same spot where I was tied up. He laid there possibly unconscious. He was covered in dirt but even so, I could see the burns. His arms, legs, and on his side. On his chest was on large gash, that was talon, no doubt about it.

"Holy shh-" I kneel down beside him. I pick up his arm and put it around me. He winces, at least he was still alive.

"You owe me big time..." I mutter to myself and help carry him out of the cave. His legs half walk and half drag on the floor. He tried to support himself but can only make it a few steps. I lug him forward trying to be gentle.

"Scarlet... you need to leave," He mumbles.

"Yeah no shit," I answer. Aaron sees me with Dylan and slides off Bullet to help. He takes Dylan's other arm and carried him with me to Bullet.

"They're after, your power..." Dylan is barely audible and trails off.

"Yes, yes, we're getting out of here," I say reassuring him. I pull him upwards and Aarons lifts him up. This dude is not light

"Scarlet, they, they have a way to take your power," Dylan is fumbling over his words and his eyes were shut still.

"We're leaving," I tell him. I could feel dragons getting very close. Dylan opens his eyes for the first time. His dull eyes started into mines before he spoke again.

"Scarlet they'll take your soul,"
