Chapter 2
Hello people! What's up? Hope you enjoy this chapter.
.....
Scarlet!!! Someone called. I got out of my bed, I realized that the sun wasn't up yet, I looked out of the window of my tree house. Outside I saw Monti, he was a blue dragon, medium size. Monti was around 4 years of age. He had the biggest heart, he always played with the little hatchlings when no one else would.
"Monti?" I say rubbing my eye.
Sorry to wake you up Scarlet. He says with sincerity in his voice.
"It's okay. Is their something you need?" I say. Monti nods.
If it's not to much to ask I was wondering if you would take me to the ocean. He says. I give a questioning looks and then say.
"Okay. I'll be down in bit" I put on my usual gray dragon scale clothes. I grab my bow and arrows and swing both over my shoulders. Making a cross on my chest. I hop out one of the windows and catch a branch as I fall closer to the ground. I latch on and swing myself to a branch closer to the ground. I drop to the soft dirt.
"Why do we need to go the ocean Monti?" I ask the dragon. Monti sometimes made trips to the ocean but most of the time it was the older dragons that went and brought back food.
Well today is my moms birthday. I wanted to get her breakfast but I don't really know the way to the ocean. Monti tells me. I smile I loved Monti's big heart.
"I'll show you the way." I say. Monti puts one of wings out and down so then I could climb on. I was bit surprised, I had never rode with Monti before. He must of seen the other dragons do it because I've never taught him. I sit at the base of his neck.
"Head west." I tell him. He takes off. Being still young he was a slow flyer but that was something I didn't mind. I was so used to the fast pace of the other dragons that a slow ride was something I missed. The sun was still coming up and the morning fog hadn't clear led out yet. Monti held a large basket that would be used to carry back the fish.
Soon enough we arrived at the glistening ocean. The rising sun reflected on the water. The tide was low and calm. We swooped down and I held my breath as we plunged under water whole scooping up fish in the basket. We broke to the surface. My wet hair stuck to my face. I looked down to see a good amount of fish flopping around in the basket.
"Good job Monti!" I say complementing his catch.
Thanks he says back as he turns and flys back towards the cove. We flew slowly. Then all of sudden a gust of wind came from behind me. It was to much force for it to be normal. The fog around us shifts. I made the mistake of looking back. Behind us was a dragon with black scales and red beady eyes. I locked eyes with the dragon. It stared straight into my soul sending shudders down my back. It roared and flew faster towards us.
"Monti! We need to go." I frantically say and urge him to go faster. I look back to the dragon who's gaining on us with every flap of its wings.
"Monti drop the fish." I say dead serious. He obeys and does what I ask. The fish fall back to the ocean but not before he black dragon swoops down to catch it. With a lighter load Monti flys a little faster. The black dragon might of been after the food and the food only. Hopefully that was the case because I don't think we can out fly it. I've never seen a black dragon before. Of course there were but I've never seen one. The eyes though, those are the eyes of a killer I saw it. We were flying right above the entrance to the cove territory. When a blur of back came up on my left. There was a tearing sound. I saw crimson blood and heard sound of Monti's cries as we fell to the ground.
It was black. I got up off the ground we had landed in the center of then cove. Realization it me as I remembered Monti and the black dragon. I saw Monti laying on the ground motionless. I quickly got up and ran to his side. The ground was covered in Monti's dark red blood. I realized the source of the bleeding. It was his wing or at least where his wing should of been. I screamed for help and I saw Storm, Monti's mother, come out of her cave. Her eyes widened and she ran to Monti's side. I ran to get Tip, she was the medic for the dragons and she too, was in her cave. We watched as Tip took Monti to the lake to clean of his wound. Monti was going to be okay, he was going to live but he would never fly again.
.....
"Like I said the dragon was black." I said to the leaders of the other coves. 1 day after Monti was attacked I called the other leaders to a meeting in the Great cave.
You are sure of the red eyes? Ember asks me.
"Yes." I respond. The older dragons look grim, some of the other younger dragons and myself look at them with confused faces.
I thought they would never come back. Bane says.
We knew that they would it was something we just wanted to avoid. Ember says.
The rest need to know. Cenna says, she was the leader of the cove closest to the ocean. She had deep blue scales that reminded me of water. Soon my thoughts drifted back to the day that Monti and I went to the ocean. How we flew above the blue sea and how that flight was at first of happiness and then terror. It would be his last flight. Of course he could ride with other dragons help but the thing I loved most about flying and the thing that all dragons loved about it was the freedom that went with it. My thoughts were interrupted by Ember.
A long time go there was a group of dragons call the Rogue.
