Miranda (4)

Annabelle instantly stiffened. Startled, she spun around quickly, and found herself staring into the face of the pink girl from yesterday. Annabelle gasped.

"What ARE you?" she asked, horrified.

The girl just laughed.

"You humans are SOO funny. As well as ignorant, stupid, and fairly evil. But I guess you didn't choose to be born a human, so I will explain," the girl paused, an amused grin on her face. Annabelle bit her lip, very confused. "I am a Being, and you have found yourself in our little world of candy. My name is Miranda. I will be your... ah... let's call it employer," she said, still wearing the crazed grin.

"Can't I just go home?" Annabelle pleaded, getting increasingly scared.

"Nah. I've always wanted a servant," the girl said with a shrug. Annabelle's furrowed her eyebrows.

"Servant?" she asked.

"Yes, servant."

"I won't be any servant!" Miranda snorted.

"You kinda don't have any choice..." she trailed.

"What do you mean-" Annabelle started, but she suddenly found that no matter how hard she tried, she could not talk!

Miranda laughed.

"Much better."

Annabelle suddenly found herself walking towards the mansion, but she was unable to do anything about it.

"What's going on?" she wanted to scream, but of course, she had no choice.

Her legs kept moving of their own accord, not even slowing, no matter how hard she tried.

She had reached the manor. Her hand, still not under her control, lifted up and opened the door.

Annabelle entered a spacious room made of light colored gingerbread. It looked to be a parlor room, with several marshmallow chairs and couches of different colors, supported by gingerbread or chocolate, and trimmed with frosting. Some had cotton candy blankets or gummy pillows.

There was a sparkling sugar-crystal chandelier hanging from the slanted ceiling above a dark chocolate table

with matching chocolate chairs.

Also in the room were a few dark colored cabinets, most likely storing plates, dishes, or other dining items.

But Annabelle didn't stop in the parlor room.

She also didn't stop in the white-and-yellow-wafer tile kitchen with a white wafer table set and yellow wafer appliances.

No, her feet marched right on up a set of gingerbread stairs, through a gingerbread hallway with several chocolate doors, and up a pretzel ladder into a dark room.

When Annabelle's eyes had grown to the dark, she could make out a small, licorice frame bed covered with a thin layer of marshmallow and one lone marshmallow pillow. The light was too dim to see what color the bed was. Beside the bed was a licorice bed stand with and old sugar lamp. There was a cracked chocolate wardrobe on the other side of the room. Other than that, the attic (or that's at least what Annabelle thought this dark room was) was empty.

Miranda suddenly appeared in the room. Annabelle watched from her position as Miranda switched on the lamp, nearly blinding her, due to the fact that she could not close her eyes on command. Miranda smirked.

"I told you that you didn't have a choice, but humans are just too stupid to face the truth. And that's the truth right there, so prove to me that you are no ordinary human,

Annabelle."

Annabelle blinked.

Then, she realized that she had regained control of her body.

"Wait a second, I never told you my name," was the first thing she said. Miranda shrugged.

"I have my ways."

"Which are...?"

"Funny, ignorant, stupid, evil AND nosy. Quite a list of characteristics you've got there."

Annabelle scowled.

"Can you cut me some slack? I mean, look. I've been kidnapped, imprisoned, trapped in total darkness, then controlled? Not your average weekend, in my opinion," she told Miranda pointedly.

Miranda shrugged again, causing Annabelle to scowl even deeper. "Where even am I? And what do you plan to do with me? And can I ever go home? And-" Annabelle fired out, but was cut off again.

"Slow down, Little Miss Nosy."

Annabelle glared.

"If you were suddenly brought into a place completely different than anything you'd ever known, you'd want to know some basics about it, wouldn't you?"

Miranda shrugged again.

"I guess."

Annabelle shot her a look of sheer ice, and Miranda rolled her eyes.

"Alright, FINE. You are in a place on Earth, that humans can't access unless brought to it. And I'm still undecided about what to do with you. And... no." Miranda said, getting her smirk back.

Annabelle sighed and slumped against the wall, a disappointed look on her face. "Oh, come on now, don't make me feel guilty!" exclaimed Miranda, exasperated.

"Well, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU SHOULD BE! YOU BROUGHT ME AWAY FROM MY FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND LIFE, JUST TO BE SOME SORT OF SERVANT OR SOMETHING! I THINK YOU SHOULD BE FEELING VERY GUILTY RIGHT NOW!" Annabelle screamed, making her throat sore.

Miranda's eyes glistened, and she too lost her temper.

"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, AND YOU NEVER WILL!" she shouted, equally as loud. Annabelle lost control of herself again, and was forced to watch Miranda open the door, climb down the ladder, and lock the door behind her with a fateful click.
