A few dragon tips in general
Here's some tips for drawing dragons Owo
1) SCALES- tips:
VARY the size, width, and that stuff to show muscles, texture, and natrualness.
For example, let's see a real-life picture of MR. IGUANA:
Look at that varying texture and size! and how scales are bigger around the chin, neck, and nose/eye plates Owo
for shading, it's much better to shade as the scales INDIVIDUALLY for a neat and good overall look. try not to use airbrush aahhh
2) BASIC SHAPES:
These are the basic shapes to dragons (sorry for all the messiness!) The wings are just fingers, and the neck is an S.
Tip: the body is WAY larger than the head- much more than expected!
3) COMMON ISSUES!
1) Fat neck syndrome.
Sadly this is a HUGELY common problem, aahhH! It's where the back of the neck is ridiculously bigger than needed, and the chest is really small.
CURE: Make the neck more.... Welp, try to make it skinnier than it seems like it needs to be, and make the chest much, much bigger and the back of the neck much smaller.
2) Knife horns of glory.
Just... Round the end. When have deer or mooses or rams had perfectly angular, sharp, intersecting horns?
CURE: Add bluntness to the end, and add some curves or imperfections, not just 2 straight lines. For a much better and unique character, have some fun with making crazy horns!
3) The mosquito dragon
The eyes are really far up the head, so it looks like the forehead is oversized. The horns and cheek are WAY too pushed back. This makes for a really weird insect-looking dragon.
CURE:Move the eyes back and the horns above the eyes, and the ears and cheek forward.
That's all for this chapter- sorry for the shorter chapter than expected! I hope this helps you guys somewhat :)
(Time to go to swim ;-; i don't wanna but i have to cri)
