Handy Anne
The last few days were rough, but Anne, Sprig, and I were sitting on the roof to enjoy the first moments of spring in Amphibia. "Ah, spring is finally here." I sighed. "Alright, guys, new season, new possibilities, I'm ready to blossom into my best self." Anne said. "So, you're feeling better about the whole Sasha incident?" Sprig asked. Anne was silent. "Yup, totally fine!" Anne lied. "Okay, cool, because if I had a fight like that, I'd be devastated." Sprig sighed. "Heck, I'd be upset just hearing someone talk about it..." "Hey look, Hop Pop and Polly!" I interrupted to change the subject. They returned pulling what looked like a motor home. We got off the roof to check it out. "Whoa, Hop Pop, what is this thing?" Sprig asked. "Impressive, huh?" Hop Pop replied. "This here is an all terrain, custom model family wagon, I'm calling it the Fwagon." "Fwagon?" Anne asked. "Really?" "Cheap too!" Hop Pop exclaimed. "The previous owners died in it." Polly added. "So, why do we need a new wagon?" I asked. "Fwagon." Hop Pop corrected. "Not calling it that." I mumbled. "Well, with the snow melted, and the mountain pass open, we can finally travel outside the valley, to Newtopia!" Hop Pop explains. "Oh my FROG!" Sprig exclaimed. "We're going to Newtopia?" "What's in Newtopia?" Anne and I asked.
Hop Pop took us inside the Fwagon to reveal a map of Amphibia. "It's the beating heart of Amphibia, a bustling metropolis full of ancient knowledge, run by the wisest of newts." Hop Pop explains. "If anyone can help you two get home, it's them." "You mean that this could actually be our ticket home?" I asked. "And not only that, but maybe out on the road, we'll find Marcy." Anne added. "You betcha!" Hop Pop exclaimed. "Pack your things, kids, we leave tonight!" We all cheered as we walked out of the Fwagon. "We're going to Newtopia!" Sprig and Polly shouted. "Say, girls, since you both don't have a lot to pack, could you give Chuck the spare key when he swings by?" Hop Pop asked. "Who's Chuck?" Anne asked. "I can't believe you don't remember Chuck." I replied. "We played bugball with him." Sprig said. "He grows tulips." Polly added. "Nope, not ringing a bell." Anne said. "Why does he need a key?" I asked. "Because I hired him to protect the house from all the things waiting to destroy it." Hop Pop replied. "Wait, what?" Anne gasped. "An empty house is vulnerable, girls, needs protecting, not to mention our crops, the very soul of a farm, left alone to face wildfires, locusts, tornadoes, flaming locust tornadoes." Hop Pop explains, handing us the key. "Anyway, here you go." "We didn't realize you guys were risking so much to help us." I said as the Plantars started their packing. "Are you starting to feel guilty about this?" Anne asked. I nodded. "But at least Chuck will handle it, whoever that is." Suddenly, a muscular frog was riding on a snail with a taxi sign labeled on it. "Chuck!" Anne exclaimed. "Actually, I'm Dave, that's Chuck." The driver corrected. Chuck gets out of the taxi. "I grow tulips." Chuck said as the taxi left. Anne and I looked nervous around Chuck as he was attacked by a bug. "There's no way this guy can do the job." I said to Anne. "The house is doomed and it's all our fault, unless..." I grabbed my driver and Anne grabbed her tennis racket to fight off the bugs. "Chuck, buddy, turns out we don't need you after all, because we're gonna disaster proof this house by ourselves." Anne explains to Chuck. "Tulips." Chuck groaned as he fainted with his thumbs up. "But first, we need supplies, but they can't just be any supplies, they have to be the best supplies." I suggested. "Because the Plantars are risking everything for us."
We picked up some stuff from all over the town. We had to stop by Loggle's place to get some more supplies. "Hi, Anne, hi, Rowena, let me guess, disaster proofing your house?" Loggle asked. "Oh, yeah, we got everything we need for the house, just need something for the crops." Anne replied. "The very heart and soul of a farm." I added. "You got anything for that?" "As a matter of fact, I do." Loggle replied. I was shocked when he said that. "Huh, that was weird." Anne said. Loggle took us to the back of his shop. "Behold, my latest concoction, this gunk won't just protect your crops, it'll awaken a power within them, a power some would say is better left..." "We'll take it." We interrupted Loggle. "Wait, really, don't you want to hear the rest of my cryptic warning?" Loggle asked. "We nodded." "Works for me, cash or credit?" We payed Loggle and left his shop to go back to the house.
When we returned, Anne and I started working on the house. After we finished the house, Anne poured all of Loggle's invention on the crops. "Well, let's get the Fwagon loaded." Hop Pop said as he, Polly, and Sprig, who looked like he lost four days of sleep, grabbed their stuff and brought it all to the Fwagon. "Sprig, are you okay?" I asked. "Yes, great, how are you?" Sprig replied in a weird tone. "Wow, Chuck really outdid himself." Hop Pop commented. "Ain't nothing happening to this place while we're gone." All of a sudden, the ground started shaking like an earthquake. It was the crops, they were all coming to life? "Holy frog abuse!" I exclaimed. "Veggie monsters!" Hop Pop gasped. "I've had this nightmare before!" Polly panicked. "Oh, wow, how could this have happened?" Anne asked sarcastically. "Don't worry, fam, I've got this." Sprig said as he was about to use one of his slingshots, but it broke and hit his face. Polly burst into laughter, but shortly gets captured by one of the monsters. We prepared for the attack. Anne, Hop Pop, and I fought off the monsters while Sprig goes to rescue Polly. "We did it, and the house is un damaged!" Anne cheered, when suddenly, all of the monsters fused together into one giant veggie monster, bigger than the house. The monster pushed the Plantars out of the way. The accidentally stepped in one of Anne's traps, but ended up destroying the house. "No!" We cried. "The house." I grunted. "Everything we worked so hard to protect." The monster tried to squash us, but luckily, we moved out of the way. I felt a strange feeling, a feeling I haven't felt since Anne fought against the tax collector toads. "Oh, you just made a big mistake, buddy." Anne added. We grabbed each other's hands and stabbed the monster in the eyes as it collapsed. "Eat your vegetables." "Guys, that was amazing!" Sprig cheered. "You saved our tails." Polly added. "Yeah, but the house." I frowned. "The important thing is that we're all okay, it's not your fault that mysterious green energy turned the crops evil." "Actually, it is." Anne sighed. "Say what?" Hop Pop exclaimed. "Funny story, we got rid of Chuck, then we fortified the house, set the crops with some cursed magic Loggle made." I explained. "You what?" They asked. "We just wanted the house to be safe while you guys were taking this big trip for us." Anne added. "Girls, we're not taking this trip for you, we're taking it with you." Hop Pop said. "We got your backs no matter what." Sprig added. "Thanks, fam, that means a lot to us." I thanked. "We can hold off on Newtopia, we'll fix the house first." Anne added. "No need." Hop Pop explains as he blows a horn to send a signal to Chuck, who repaired the house instantly. "I grow tulips." Chuck said. Anne and I were speechless. "Why do you think I hired Chuck in the first place?" Hop Pop asked. "Sorry we doubted you, dude." I apologized. "I grow tulips." He repeated. "Yes he does." Hop Pop said. "Alright, kids, it's a two week journey to Newtopia, so we better get going." Sprig and Polly got into the Fwagon. "Hey, Hop Pop, we were thinking, wouldn't it be a good idea to bring the music box with us on the trip?" Anne asked. "I mean, that was how we got here." I added. "Oh, no, no, no, it'll be safe with my contacts for the time being." Hop Pop stuttered. "Alright, HP, we trust your judgment." Anne replied as we got in the Fwagon. "Alright, kids, let's get this Fwagon on the road." Hop Pop said. "No turning back now!" "Did we give the key to Chuck?" I asked. "We're turning back now!" Hop Pop announced. I wonder what surprises are in store beyond the valley.
