Bad Timing!

I have a fever. That's just great.

I scowled at the thermometer that read 37.7°. Of course I got a fever today of all days. Today's the day of the U.A. entrance exams. I had been studying and practicing for months to prepare for this!

"Sakura! Are you done yet?" My older sister poked her head in the bathroom. Her long white hair fell down perfectly straight and she eyed the thermometer in my hands with curious red eyes. "Uh-oh. What's the damage?" She asked, swinging the door wide.

I sighed and showed her it. She winced for me. "Ouch. That's rough. Well, can't be helped. You should rest in bed for today." She told me, plucking the thermometer from me.

I just snorted at that. "I'm still going. And you better not tell mom and dad, Ume-Nee." I warned, narrowing my light golden eyes at her.

She raised a perfectly plucked eyebrow at me. Ume-Nee knows how hard I've been working for today. This is my chance to attend the number one Hero School in Japan.

I would have applied for Shinketsu, but this school still produces more Heroes than any other school. There's no way I'm giving up over something as trivial as a fever.

"Are you sure? You know your Quirk doesn't work well when you have a fever." She warned, her eyes begging me to stay behind.

While she didn't choose to attend U.A while in school, she did go to Shinketsu. Although after graduation she just kind of dropped out of the profession. She still has her license, but she didn't choose a Hero to work under.

Every now and then, mom will let her work for her when she thinks her Quirk will come in handy.

Ume-Nee who inherited an evolved Quirk from both our parents had every option she could possibly dream of. She had her pick of the litter from the Hero Agency pool.

But she didn't do anything with her degree and just decided to work in a hair salon around the corner.

I ignored my sister and walked past her, brushing her arm as I went to my room to get ready.

It'll be fine. I'll just have to push past it. I quickly rummaged through my closet. Most of my clothes are trendy traditional japanese clothes, but the other half is more modern wear since Ume-Nee doesn't support my preference.

Speak of the devil and she shall appear.

Ume-Nee came striding in my room without any hesitation. "At least stop by the convenience store for some medicine-no." She gave me a flat look upon spotting the taisho kimono in hand. "Just no. Why do you have such weird style." She whined.

I scowled at her. "Dad wears kimonos all the time." I stated. She snorted, snatching the clothing from my hand and rummaging through my closet.

"Dad has yet to accept that we don't live in the Edo Period. Besides, it goes with his Quirk." I was about to protest but she stopped me. "And you're a teenager. Wear these. You have some workout clothes in your bag, right?" She asked as she pulled out black tights, a blue colored skirt, a pink sweater and a matching blue scarf.

I blinked. "When did I get those?"

She glanced at them with mild interest. "I bought them."

I shook my head, crossing my arms over my chest. "No. I just need to wear something to take a test in. It's not a fashion show Ume-Nee." I stated. She let out an exaggerated sigh before going back to rummaging.

I sighed and closed my eyes. My body is all warm and aching. My mind is a little fuzzy too. I should be able to at least get through the written exam. I just hope it doesn't get worse.

"Here." She tossed me a pair of skinny jeans, a beige sweater, and a dark colored scarf. Not wanting to waste anymore time, I quickly changed into the clothes. Double checking I had some school supplies and my workout clothes, I headed out.

"Sakura! Stop by the convenience store for some-" I ignored my sister and took off in a sprint. I can't be late to the entrance exams. I just can't.

Hopping onto the train, I sighed in relief. Keeping my eyes closed I leaned my burning face on the cool window of the train.

I can't let a little cold get me down. U.A. doesn't take any students mid-semester unless they are special transfer students from other Hero Schools. They don't have make up exam days like normal schools.

This is my one shot. And I'm already at a disadvantage what with my Quirk. And the fact that they don't allow those applying for the Hero Course to bring any items or weapons doesn't help me either.

Depending on how the physical course goes I might be pushing my abilities to attend the Hero Course. I'm nervous. I wonder if mom, dad, Ume-Nee, and Nakahara-San were nervous when they entered their school of choice.

Even with all the studying and preparing, I should feel a little bit more confident. But I don't.

But I refuse to fail. I'm getting into U.A. Nothing is going to change that.

When I had arrived at the large school, it was a bit overwhelming. But I had gone in and went through the written test without any hesitation. I was doing great. Until we went onto the second part.

As Present Mic explained what the second test would include, I felt my fever rise a bit. My mind became a disoriented mess and the sweater I was wearing became unbearable on my scorching skin.

I was relieved when they allowed us to change into our sportswear. But even the athletic shorts and thin t-shirt I wore was too much. My body felt like it'd melt away waiting in this crowded mass in front of my gate.

I had to keep on telling myself just a little bit more. Just a bit more and I can go home and rest.

Just a little more.

"Are you alright?" A masculine voice asked. I glanced over at the boy next to me. He's taller than me, with messy purple hair and tired matching eyes. He's also pretty pale. "Yes." I lied with ease.

He didn't look convinced.

I offered a polite smile. "Just a little tired. But I'll be fine." I assured. He still didn't look like he believed me. But the siren went off and the gate opened.

Immediate chaos took place as everyone rushed in. I wasted no time either. I took off in a sprint.

The way this test is designed is a bit of an inconvenience for me. But even with my Quirk, I should still be able to get some points off these robots.

I seperated from the main group and took off. The set up inside is like a city with roads and alleyways. Fairly narrow, especially with these robots. Immediately I spotted a one point robot.

Okay, go!

I jumped up, feeling the cherry blossom petals leaving my body and warping around me as I took off at a high speed to it. It moved it's arm and I, with the help of the petals, swerved around it, still in the air, and latched onto it's back.

The remaining cherry blossom petals fell as I reached in the cracks of the metal and yanked out a bunch of wires. The machine made creaking noises before collapsing. Alright. One point. Next one.

I jumped off the hunk of metal and took off.

My Quirk is Petal Burst. My body has the ability to either emit cherry blossom petals, or turn my body parts into petals and move at an incredible super speed on the ground or in the air.

It has nothing to do with my parents Quirks, but it was my grandmothers Quirk on my father's side. Except her petals were camelia flowers.

It's not really a power type, but if you use it right, it comes in handy.

Spotting another one, I took off in the air, cherry petals surrounding me. My body grew even hotter and my vision blurred. But I still managed to land on top of it and rip out the wires.

I wobbled on my feet, eyes drooping. This fever isn't going down. These aren't even backlashes of my Quirk. I shook my head and continued on my way. "AHG!" A shout sounded.

I glanced around, trying to find the source. But All I saw were teenagers fighting robots. I pursed my lips and shot up in the sky before landing on a rooftop. I scanned over the teens again, looking for the source of that shout.

My eyes soon landed on teenager with dark shaggy hair and matching slanted eyes. His arm is turning like a drill and he's up against four three pointers that have him surrounded.

There aren't many people around him, and those that are aren't doing anything to help him. He's pretty far.

Normally the distance wouldn't bother me much, but with this fever it may be a bit too difficult.

No Sakura. You have to help him. He could get seriously hurt!

Taking a deep breath, I burst forward at a high speed as most of my body turned into a flurry of cherry petals.

I zoomed over to him. He only had a chance to glance at me before my body hit his and we flew off to the side before tumbling into a narrow alley.

I haven't really mastered the ability to take other people or large objects with me, so the most I could do was knock him out of the way with my body.

The petals returned back to my body and I lay against the cool ground. My eyesight is blurred and my aching body refuses to get up.

"Hey, are you okay?!" The boy asked worriedly, moving my body a bit so he can see me fully. My face, along with the rest of my body, felt like they were on fire. I'm sure I'm a deep shade red.

The teen looked at me weirdly, I think. It's too blurry to tell. But I soon felt his cool hand against my burning forehead. I could already feel myself losing consciousness.

"This is the worst day to have a fever." I murmured before I became dead to the world.

~

When I awoke, all I saw was white. And my body only ached slightly. After a few seconds, I realized I was in a hospital room. I tried to recollect my thoughts. Once I did I sighed.

I totally failed the second test. The fever got the best of me. It seems I need to work on myself more if a little fever could best me like that.

The door to my hospital room slid open and in came my older sister with a coffee in her hand. I blinked, a bit surprised to see her. "Ume-Nee?" I asked, throat a bit dry.

A bright smile stretched across her face before a frown. She walked over and sat in the chair beside my bed. "Really now. Pushing yourself when you're sick. Do you know what happened? Your temperature shot straight up to 41.6° and it turned right into pneumonia."

Although she's scolding me, there's worry in her eyes.

"Recovery Girl said that you had to have been sick for a couple of days and not doing anything about it. Lack of sleep, pushing your body and mind too much, stress, lack of food. Sakura what were you thinking?"

I glanced away, not wanting to be scolded. "I have been eating properly. And I'm not that stressed." I defended weakly. Ume-Nee sighed.

"Well, you're going to be on strict bed rest for a while. Mom's still at work, but dad's coming home early from his trip. He'll be home tonight." Ah man. I didn't want to take dad away from work.

As if reading my mind she smiled at me. "He's just worried. Besides, this is a miracle. Usually they don't come for this. But you passed out during your exam. The most stubborn Igarashi. Hell, when you want something, you do everything to get it. Dad was so shocked when I called him." She said thoughtfully. Then her face brightened up.

"Oh! You had a visitor as well! A boy." She made a face and raised her eyebrows up and down suggestively.

Huh? A boy?

"I was soooo surprised! You only like to hang out with dirty men from the dojo or the mailman. But I was so happy! He was worried about you too, y'know. Said you helped him in the exam. He had asked the teachers which hospital you went to and stopped by, but you were out."

Oh, it was the dark haired boy. I wonder what happened after I passed out? Well, there's the rest of the practical.

I pursed my lips tightly and clenched the sheets in my hands. "I failed the second test. There's no way I'm getting into Hero Course."

Ume-Nee looked at me, sadness in her eyes. "Sakura . . ."

I glanced at the tiled ceiling. "But I prepared myself for the possibility I wouldn't pass and also applied for General Department. I hear that you can move to Hero Course if you show the potential. And I'm fairly confident I passed that much at least." I informed her.

To this, her eyes went wide with surprise. "You . . . you thought that far ahead?!" She shouted at me.

I furrowed my brows as I stared at her oddly. "Of course. You have to think all of the possibilities and then plan for them. This does put a hinder in my plan though. Hero Course gets Hero training. General Department does not." I sighed.

I do hope I can manage to transfer still within my first year. I don't want to be behind.

I sighed again and leaned back against the bed.

I hope I made it in at least the General Department. As long as I have a chance, I can make it happen.
