Before the Aftermath
Your health is down to 1 HP. Chara holds on to the knife shakily. They look out of breath. Despite your injuries, your hope of beating Chara fills you with determination.
"You... You still want to go at it?" Chara heaved. Although no damage has been inflicted on them, they seem to be growing tired. "When are you going to realize that the only way you can survive is to fight?"
Act: Refuse. You shake your head, refusing to fight.
"You goody-two-shoes. How stupid can you get? When are you going to wake up and face reality?" Chara swipes their knife vigorously at you, but you dodge each move. "You're too naive to face the world. Just give up! That bag of bones did."
Mercy: Spare.
Chara glowers at you. "You stubborn..." They then start to chuckle. "You know what?" Chara drops the knife. "It's not like I need to kill you. If I do kill you, then it would mean the end of me too. If you die, then I would no longer have a soul to rely on to be whole. But that won't be a problem. Seeing how weak you are now, it'll be a lot easier for me to take control."
You feel a malice darkness surrounding your soul.
Act: Struggle. You struggle, but you can't break lose.
"You're going to take a nice long nap now. It'll get kind of lonely without you to talk with, but don't worry. I'll be sure to pay all of your friends a visit... once we reset again. And again... and again... and again. It'll be a never ending playtime."
The light is fading away. You feel as if you can't do anything but give in... But it refused.
Your soul regains its strength and shines through the clutches of Chara's darkness. "What? Are you really that determined to stop me?" Chara picks up their knife from the ground. "He-he-heh. Doesn't matter. It's not like you're going to fight me anyway."
Act: Talk. You tell Chara that fighting doesn't always have to be the answer.
"Still so innocent and naive. No matter what the conflict is, it'll always resort to violence. Why do you think humans always have war?" Chara swings their knife some more. You avoid the attacks, taking zero damage.
Act: Talk. You tell Chara that Asriel didn't choose to fight the humans. Chara frowned.
"Asriel was weak... spineless... and foolish. Just like you. But you're gonna wish that you were dead." Chara plunges their weapon at you once more, but was a little off.
Act: Talk. You tell Chara that even though the humans hit Asriel with everything they got, he refused to fight back. He managed to stagger back to the underground with a smile.
"Stop saying his name! You don't know Asriel the way I did!" Chara swings their knife viciously. Their shoulders are shaking.
Act: Talk. You ask Chara if they still believe in goodness in the world.
"Of course I don't! Why do you think I want to erase the world?" Chara slices the air with their knife. It is becoming easier to dodge their attacks.
Act: Talk. You tell Chara that if that's so, why do they keep bringing it back?
"Don't you see? It's their punishment for being rotten! They hurt me more than I could ever hurt them. At least their deaths are quick, and they wouldn't even remember when we reset." Chara swings their knife around ferociously, but doesn't watch where they're swinging.
Act: Talk. You ask Chara if mom and dad were rotten.
Chara remains silent.
Act: Talk. You ask Chara if Asreil was rotten.
"... No... Asriel wasn't rotten, neither were mom, or dad. They treated me like family. They gave me more kindness than I deserved. He-heh. Even monsters can be more nice than a human like me. I only wanted to repay their kindness. I wanted Asriel to kill the humans so that he would bring back six souls to break the barrier. I wanted to free all monsters. Was that wrong of me to do?" Chara looks down. "Doesn't matter. Why am I wasting my breath on you... when it's all going to reset anyway? Just give me your soul!" Chara drives their dagger toward you once more. You move but not quick enough. You take some damage.
Act: Talk. You tell Chara that they keep resetting because maybe they just wanted to see them again. That maybe they didn't want to let go.
Chara starts smiling. "Heh-heh. You're right about one thing. I do like seeing them again, but not because I miss them. Oh no... I reset because I find them amusing. It's fun seeing the looks on their faces." Chara lunge toward you and push you. You feel the weigh of Chara pinning you down.
Act: Talk. Talking doesn't seem to work anymore.
"Your soul is mine. Just be a good partner and hand it over." Chara prepares to strike down their weapon.
Act: Struggle. You catch the knife before it makes impact. You push back as hard as you can.
Chara's grin widens. "Come on, Frisk. Don't fight the inevitable. Embrace what we have become."
The knife drives closer, but you refuse.
Fight: You quickly punch Chara in the chin. Chara staggers back shocked. You tell Chara to get dunked on.
"Ow! You punched me." As Chara rubs their chin, you pick yourself up. Your increased heart rate fills you with determination. Chara is confused, but then grins in amusement. "Wow. You actually hit me. I didn't even think you had it in you. Are you going to..."
Mercy: Spare. You embrace Chara in a warm hug. Chara gasps in surprise. "W-what are you doing?"
Act: Talk. You tell Chara that they are not what they say they are.
"What? What are you talking about? I know who I am. I am the embodiment of evil. I am the demon that comes when people call it's nam-"
Act: Talk. You keep telling Chara no. They are only just a kid who was lonely and confused. Chara struggled to break free from the hug.
"Quit that! I'm a monster! I have no soul!"
Act: Talk. You tell Chara that although they had no soul, they still had a heart, and right now you can feel both your hearts beating as one.
Chara clenched their teeth, gripping the knife firmly in their hand. "I'm growing tired of your shenanigans! Quit lying! I'll never be good! No one will ever love me!"
Act: Talk. You tell Chara that they don't have to reset. They don't have to feel alone.
Chara pokes the end of the blade on your back. "I can literally end this right now. What makes you so sure I won't?"
Act: Talk. You tell Chara that you still believe there is still good in him.
Chara hesitates. "What? How could you say that?"
Act: Talk. You tell Chara that it is because they were once best friends with Asriel. If they were that important to Asriel, then surely they were good once. Even when Asriel lost his soul, you still saw the goodness in him.
Chara begins wheezing. "I just want all of this to end! If you're going to stop me, strike me down now while you still have a chance!"
Mercy: Spare.
"I'll take your soul. I'll reach the surface. I'll destroy everything!"
Mercy: Spare.
"I'll kill everyone you love!"
Mercy: Spare.
"I... I..." Chara drops their knife. "I can't do it..." You both drop to the ground on your knees.

Mercy: Spare. You continue to comfort Chara.
"Why? Why do you keep being so nice to me? After everything I've done, after everything you've seen, after everything you've been through... you still think I'm worth it?"
Act: Comfort. You rub Chara affectionately on the back, telling them it's okay.
"Heh. You really are a weird kid, Frisk. You know what?" Chara breaks away from the hug. "I give up. You're too good for me."
Mercy: Spare.
Suddenly, Chara's feet starts to dissolve into particles of dust. You ask them what is going on. "I don't have the will to stay here any longer. Your determination outmatches mine. You'll gain control over your body again, but I'll be expelled. And without a soul host, I'll disappear.
Act: Beg. You tell Chara that there has to be another way.
"It's okay, frisk." Chara smiles while the lower half of their body is disappearing. "I was already gone once. I shouldn't even exist anyways. I already had my fun. To be honest, I got bored resets ago. The reason why I kept on going for so long was because..." Chara begins to cry. "I didn't want to let go. I didn't want my life to end. I wanted to see my family again. I thought resetting would set things back to... those times, so that I could set things right again. But I was only able to reset as far as your starting point. I was so frustrated that I manipulated you just to vent out my anger. I wreaked havoc just so that I could feel good... feel something."
Act: Comfort. You give Chara a hug, despite them fading away.
"You know... I'm glad I got to meet you. If I have never met you, I probably wouldn't have met all those kind monsters, seen so many places, and go on a lot of adventures. Thanks for accepting me, Frisk."
You feel Chara hugging you back warmly.
"Oh, and Frisk... I... I'm sorry... for everything. You've been a great friend."
You tell Chara you forgive them.
"Ha... It's been a while... since I've felt something like this. At least... I won't be alone... until the very end..."
You feel Chara fade away from your arms. Chara disappeared.
