Chapter Thirteen
Ashara tensed as she held onto the gunship. They were going down and they were going down fast. She was grateful when they crashed to a halt. She was about to call out to her squad when she remembered that Anakin had asked them to stay behind, to take care of the ship.
Speaking of Anakin, he had disappeared long ago, having jumped out of the ship to play with some droids. Ashara sighed, knowing that that was one of his favorite past-times. Ever since she'd known him, he'd been playing with droids.
The Jedi jumped out of the gunship onto the falling cruiser. She ran down the hallways, not bothering to see if Rex and Ahsoka were following her. She dodged past blaster fire, cutting down droids as she went, but mostly she was aiming to find Anakin. Knowing him, he would be surrounded by droids, only being able to defend himself and not go on the offensive.
When she found him, he was indeed surrounded by droids. She rolled her eyes, before taking out the ones that were coming up behind him.
"You're a bit overwhelmed, I see", she said as she joined his side as they continued to take down droids. She could see flashes of another lightsaber through the droids and knew that that had to be where Master Secura was.
"What are you talking about?" Anakin asked as he used the force to push a super droid onto a bunch of B1 battle droids, clearing a path to Secura. Ashara rolled her eyes, but kept up with him as he joined the twi'lek Jedi in fighting more droids. Ashara caught glimpses of Ahsoka's green lightsabers, and was glad to know that the little togruta had kept up after all.
"Nice entrance, Skywalker", Secura said as they ran forward. "How do you plan to get us out of this mess?"
Ashara deflected blaster shots from the droids while Rex ran close behind her, shooting down the droids as they got closer to them. She smirked, knowing that they made a good team.
"Well, I have a ship docking in the lower hangar as we speak", Anakin explained while cutting through some droids. Ashara noticed that they were close enough to the droids that they could cut them down but she figured that would take too long. So she decided to take Anakin's trick, and use the force to push them all over. Secura sent the Jedi Knight a grateful glance. Ashara merely nodded once and they found themselves able to run through more of the ship with ease.
They turned a corner, and saw a singular battle droid standing there. Ashara saw Anakin ignite his lightsaber, ready to take it down, but he hesitated when several more droids appeared. Luckily, that wasn't the way they needed to go, so they turned another corner, and found themselves at the door to lower docking bay.
"We made it!" Ahsoka said as she opened the door. Ashara heard a rumbling and looked back to see an big explosion coming towards them. Her eyes widened, but without hesitation, she used the force to push everyone back into the docking tube, and closed the docking bay door. She turned back to the explosion and closed another door before it reached her, and then used the force to push it back for as long as she could. However, that wasn't very long, and she was thrown back against the docking bay door. The last thing she remembered seeing was a fiery orange wash over her before everything went black.

Ashara wandered around a field with tall grass. She didn't know where she was, but there were these cute little cats that liked to chase after her. She nearly tripped over them many times, but they didn't seem to care that she kept accidentally kicking them. She chuckled and shook her head at them. A loud howl filled the air, and Ashara looked up from the cats playing around her feet. She saw a large white wolf standing on a hill not too far away. She was surprised when she felt that she should walk toward it. As she got closer to it, the wolf started moving closer to her. She tilted her head once she got within five feet of it, pausing as to not get attacked. She wasn't sure he would attack her, but she didn't want to risk it.
"Dume", he said in a low voice. Ashara tilted her head.
"Dume?" she asked. The wolf nodded.
"Find Dume", he said before he turned and ran away. Ashara frowned, not understanding what the wolf was meaning. Who or what was this "Dume"? The Jedi Knight figured she would figure it out later. She turned away, intending to go back to playing with the cats, but she gasped when the scenery behind her had changed. Not by much, but she could see her ship, The Ghost, not too far away. She inched closer, noticing that there were people she didn't know laughing by the ramp into the ship. She narrowed her eyes as she studied each one of them.
One was a green twi'lek female, who looked like she was maybe a pilot. Next to her sat a weird looking purple creature. She hadn't seen any of his species before, and she wondered what he was. She saw a human girl, wearing what looked like... mandalorian armor? Ashara frowned, remembering from her studies that Mandalore was a peaceful planet, having given up their warrior ways many years ago. Did something happen and they returned to their warrior ways?
Ashara frowned before turning her gaze to the last two. They had been sitting with the others, but now they were standing up and walking a short distance away. The older one had brown hair and something covering his eyes. She frowned, was he blind? How was he able to get around without bumping into everything? The younger one had dark blue hair, that almost appeared black. It was cut short.
Ashara's eyes widened when they both ignited lightsabers. The older one held a blue lightsaber, and the younger one had a green lightsaber. They were force sensitive. A master and a padawan. Why hadn't she seen them before at the temple. And why did they have her ship?
"I know what you're thinking", a new voice spoke. "I was in the same place as you not that long ago."
Ashara whirled around, her eyes widening when she saw a familiar togruta standing behind her. She leaned forward, studying the white markings against her yellow skin. They were the exact same as her own. It was an older version of herself.
"I also understand your surprise", the older Ashara said. "You're seeing the future. You join up with this group of rebels here after the clone wars end."
"There is an end to this war?" the younger Ashara asked, her voice lighting up. The older Ashara gave a pained smile.
"Yes. But not in the way you expect it to. I can't tell you anything else, or it will change what must happen. All I can tell you is that you need to learn to let go of your attachments. You must let go of Rex, and of Anakin and Ahsoka. You can't hold onto them any longer. You need to let go of your squad."
The younger Ashara closed her eyes and sighed. "I know. I've been trying. It's hard though. They're some of my closest friends. Anakin is family."
The older Ashara rested a hand on the younger ones shoulder. "I know. I know exactly how you're feeling right now. I know everything that will happen to you from where you now to this moment you're seeing. And that is why I know that you need to let go, right now."
The younger Jedi Knight nodded, and let out a breathe. "I'll do my best to let go of my attachments."
"Good. Now... it's time for you to wake up."
Ashara frowned, only to wince when her head started pounding. She doubled over when her stomach started crying out in pain to, and her eyes clenched shut. When she got adjusted to the pain, she managed to open her eyes.
There was a crude metal hut formed around her. She winced as she stood up, only to fall forward, face first into the ground. She heard footsteps running towards her.
"General", a relieved voice said. Ashara looked up to see Rex. He started helping her up, but she got a glimpse of a large creature behind him.
"Behind... you", she trembled out, pointing to the creature. Rex turned around quickly, letting out a surprised shout as the creature charged towards him. Ashara tried to get up to help him, but she was too weak to stay balanced on her feet, and fell back to the ground. She managed to keep her head up long enough to see him fire his blaster, scaring the creature off. He rolled over, and sent several shots after it, but all of them missed. The Jedi Knight let her head fall back to the ground, wincing as the movement caused it to pound painfully. She closed her eyes, but opened them again as Rex walked over to her. He was clutching his arm, but he didn't say anything as he helped up get back into the shelter.
"Get some rest, general", he said softly before moving to leave. Ashara grabbed his hand before he could, and squeezed it gently. He automatically squeezed back, and the Jedi Knight smiled.
"Thank you, Captain", she said softly before her eyes closed, and she passed out.
