Chapter 6 : Is he gone?
Yu's POV:
Were you fucking kidding me? First my best friend, then my brother. And me? I am cursed. I don't deserve anything good ever happening to me, I guess. And why would it? I am the unlucky and useless bastard who hurt his mate, who didn't even acknowledge him. How many times had I ignored Rain? How many times had that bond gone unnoticed? Why hadn't Rain said anything? I tried to recollect every single moment I could as to why something like this could have happened, but nothing came to mind.
Sky's POV:
I was furious. What the hell was taking them so long? He had been in there for more than an hour now. They should have been able to tell us something by now. Right? Or was he gone? No, no, I wouldn't think that way. I was going to stay positive. I needed to be strong. I was supposed to be his protector. And look what a dandy 'job' I had done. I was literally beating myself up. As I made my millionth turn in front of the operation theatre, the doors opened and two of the doctors walked out. We all just crowded around them. Everyone started asking about his condition. The senior healer put up his hand for silence.
"He had a severe head injury. We were able to put his leg back into position and adjust his spine," he said. "We almost lost him three times in there, but we managed to get him back. His brain and other body functions are perfect, but.... he is in coma. And it is not a medically induced one," the younger doctor continued.
I felt broken. Then P'Rick asked the question that was topmost on everyone's mind at that point. "When will he wake up?" "We don't know. We can't say. It could be as soon as tomorrow. It could ever be never," the older doctor was blunt. No, no, he couldn't go. He couldn't leave. I had to go behind him. I had to stay with him. I was his protector, and I would definitely not leave him when he was in this condition. "I am going in with him," I announced. Everyone turned around to look at me. "No baby, you can't. We don't know when he will be back. And you can't tie your life to his and end yours," Uncle Type spoke up. "You know I can't do that. I have to go in. And I WILL go in," I stated, defiantly.
"What do you mean by that? Going in?" P'Phayu asked. I was not very willing to respond to him, but thankfully P'Fah responded. "So, Sky is a 'Walker' and a guardian. That's his power, right Sky?" he said. I nodded. "What is that supposed to mean?" he asked, a very confused look on his face. "I have never heard of a power like that." "It's a unique power given to the protector of the bearer of the mark of true prophecy. There has been only one in existence," P'Chai spoke up. "Only one?" This time it's P'Rick who looked confused. "I mean, Sky is here, right?" "Yeah," Khun Kinn took up my story. "He is the only one. One soul that changes form each time, walking through the eons, carrying the prophecy and protecting the bearer of the mark."
"Which is him, Rain," I said. "Apart from his mate mark, Rain has, around his hips, a tattoo in the form of two thin bands, with the words for truth, justice, chastity, honour and love in old Thai written in between them. This tattoo formed within two days of him receiving the mate mark. Finding his mate woke the prophecy." Everyone stared at me. "Why didn't either one of you tell us this?" Khun Pete asked, his voice soft and devastated. "We could have, but something happened and Rain decided not to. And I had to honour his wishes," I said. "What exactly happened though?" Khun Chai asked. "It's his story to tell," I said, glaring daggers at P'Phayu. Everyone nodded, respecting my words.
"But how will you go with him?" Rick asked suddenly. "Well, as P'Fah pointed out, I am a 'Walker'. That means I can go anywhere, in dreams, into hell, into heaven and even into limbo, if that is what it takes to bring him back," I vowed. "Okay, agreed, but still, how will you reach where he is?" the boy standing at the back of the room piped up. I looked at her quizzically. "I am Pharm." He pointed at one of the guys standing next to him and says, "this is my mate P'Dean and his younger brother P'Don. We are friends of Rain. P'Dean is also his skating partner."
I smiled at him and said, "that's where my cousin Zander will be useful." I turned to the doctors. "I need to be in the same room as him, linked to all the life machines he is linked to. Everything," I said, authority lacing my tone. The doctors looked at each other, I knew what I had asked is highly unusual and they were wary of risking it. "You will give him what he wants," Uncle Porche spoke up. And now they couldn't refuse. He is one of the members of the Theerpanayakul family. And they had no choice but to follow his orders. Looking at the faces of people around me, I knew that they were not happy with my decision. But they really couldn't do anything. But before I left, there were things to be done and to be said.
I first turned to the people I trusted the most when it came to Rain's happiness, P'Rick and P'Fah. "P'Rick, you need to go to my house. In my room, there is an old-fashioned wooden box, which needs three keys to open it. You will understand what I mean when you get there. There are two identical necklaces in that box. You need to get those and put it on Rain and me as soon as possible. Can you do that?" I asked him. "Of course, Sky. Anything you need," he replied. I then turned to P'Fah. "Phi, you know what you have to do. You will find everything you need in the archives of the old library. There are 6 pages in total. You will manage, right?" I asked. He nodded. "Go get him back Sky," was all he said. I looked at Zander and held out my hands. "I trust you to send me in and keep me safe," I told him. "Done squirt. T'inquiète pas. Je t'adore. You will be safe with him," he said, his smile filled with love.
"I need someone to create a shield around the two of us, one that can only be pierced by the doctors and nurses treating us and vetted by you all," I said, knowing this was possible, but not knowing who could do it. I looked at the Theerpanayakul family while saying this, but it was Pharm who answered. "I can do it. But I will need your blood as well as Rain's. And the blood of the doctors and nurses who you need. Dean can confirm who you can trust," he added. "That's his power. He can sense the intentions of a person," he smiled at her mate and his return look was filled with love. "Yeah, true that. That's why he is such a cynic, and always so grumpy," Don piped up. He was so handsome, I thought. But he was not the one for me. I didn't know who was, but, well.... now anyway was not the time to find someone.
I finally looked at P'Phayu. While I hated him for what he had done to Rain, but right now, my need of him trumped my hatred. "P'Phayu," I started, my voice dripping with ice. "As you know, Rain is in limbo. Till the time I bring him back, be it days, months or years, you need to come and see him every day. And please, refrain yourself from cheating on him till the time he is back. Unfortunately, he needs you to stand by him till his healing and journey is completed." I look at him in derision, knowing he could see that in my eyes. But I was past the point of caring. Despite my taunting words, he nodded his head firmly. "I, Venice Theerpanayakul, future leader of Supernaturals, hereby vow to you, Sky Thutanukul, Keeper of the prophecy, that I will abide by everything that you have asked me to do, till as much time you do not return with my mate and beyond." There was a tiny rattling around us, as if the very elements accepted his oath.
Zander's POV:
Coming to Thailand with Sky was probably the best thing I could have done. Finding Rick was a dream come true. But that happiness was a bit marred by the sadness that permeated through my mate and my little squirt. I knew the importance of Varain in their lives. More importantly, I knew what he was for the entire supernatural world because Sky had told me everything about him. He was no normal being. He was a prophecy, that had waited for thousands of years to come into being. And Sky was his guardian. When Sky started speaking, I knew what he was asking each person. Rick had to get him the eternal necklaces, with the spirit binding stones. The person called Saifah, who seemed like the future leader's brother, was to find the exact words of the prophecy, find the binding words, which would then tie Sky and Rain together, with the help of the necklace. He also had to know the words that would end the binding. And I had to ensure that Sky reached where he was supposed to. That was my power. Teleportation. I could not only do it myself, but also help others to move in between worlds.
While everyone started running around doing their tasks, I took Rick to Sky's home. We looked around for the box. And we managed to find the key and get the necklaces back quickly. Saifah was already back with the archived sheets and was learning the spell. Apparently, Don took him. I had a feeling that Don's powers could be similar to mine. Dean had vetted 2 doctors and 3 nurses who he stated were pure of heart. Meanwhile, inspite of all the chaos surrounding him, my little squirt sat in Rain's room, in the lotus posture as he meditated before embarking on his journey.
Soon, Pharm spoke up. "Everyone who plans to see the two of them must give me a drop of their blood." "Where will you put it?" Rick asked curiously. He snapped his fingers and a ceremonial cup and dagger appeared in his hand. "Well, that answers my question," my mate said. "And to respond to you, I think all of us here will want to meet him," he continued. Pharm whispered some words over the dagger and chalice, and they begin glowing. By this time, we all, including the vetted doctors and nurses, are in Rain's room. Rick placed the necklace on Rain and Sky. He then got up and lay on the second bed that had been placed close to the other one. He held Rain's left hand with his right, as Saifah bound the two hands with a glowing purple light.
Pharm passed the dagger and the cup around, as we all put a drop of our blood inside. Before we could even pass the cup to the next person, our wounds were healed. Saifah and Pharm were both chanting. Both were different spells, which would have different outcomes, but the energy in the room was electric. We all watched spellbound as Saifah's spell enclosed Rain and Sky in a bright purple light and Pharm's in yellow. Suddenly, the energy from Pharm's spell was diffused outwards and clung to the room like a cloak. Saifah's had a different effect. It surrounded Rain and Sky like a blanket, cocooning them with an unseen force. "Zander," Sky said. "It's time. Send me to him." And I stepped up.
