Chapter 5. Stalker
'Sky?' Ratchet caught up with me as I entered the lobby. He had been waiting for me. 'Have you thought about it?' I shook my head. 'There's nothing to consider. He's hopeless, and I won't waste my time trying to befriend a psychopath. Someone that murdered so many people just for fun! He can rot in hell—' he grabbed my arm and pulled away from the crowd. 'I know you're angry and that you dislike him...' he said with a quiet tone. 'But I need you to try.' I shook my head. 'Why? Why would you even consider it? He's just...' he cut me off. 'Misunderstood.' I snorted and wanted to pass, but he grabbed my arm again. 'His behaviour will only worsen... I don't want him to get hurt.'
'Because he ends up in your medbay? Why do you even care?' I crossed my arms. 'I have an oath; it's my job to help everyone, regardless of their actions. I take that oath really seriously, and I've treated him for as long as I can remember and in the only medic he trusts. I wish I could cure him, but I can't.' I snorted and shook my head. 'I'm on his list. He will kill me; he tried to kill me before.'
'No, you have 30 days. He was just messing with you.'
'That's just sickening. My answer is no, and it stays no,' I snapped before passing him.
I left Ratchet standing in the lobby and headed for the locker room. I banished the experiment idea from my head and started my day. Besides feeling watched, nothing happened. I was pretty much aware that he was stalking me, and it frightened me, but I didn't want it to affect me all day. This is probably how it will be for the next couple of weeks. The scary part, I know he's watching me, but I can't see him. My growing paranoia isn't doing much good, either.
I decided to leave the base and Sunstreaker watch during my break simultaneously. He won't try to hurt me if people surround me. At least, it seems highly unlikely for any psychopath to kill or torture e people in daylight and on the streets. I grabbed my coat and quickly left.
There were a few small lunchrooms across the street. I looked over my shoulder at the sound of a powerful V-12 engine. Sunstreaker left the base and hit the road. I wanted to assume he was going out for a patrol, but he followed me. I turned into an alley he couldn't go through and took a few more turns to lose him. I eventually managed to sneak into a lunchroom and sat down at the very end, far away from the windows. It was crowded, so I don't think Sunstreaker would see me immediately.
A lady walked up to me and handed me a menu card. 'Can I take your drink?' I nodded. 'Y-yeah, can I have Ice Tea?' She nodded and walked off. I scanned the room before picking up the menu card.
As time passed, I started to relax and was sure Sunstreaker wouldn't dash in. After my lunch, I left the lunchroom. Pushing the door open, I was welcomed by seeing a yellow Lamborghini parked right in front of the shop. 'Stop following me,' I hissed while passing. His engine came back to life. He followed me back to the base.
'Get away from me!' I yelled as he drove after me into the hangar. His bumper was just inches away from my legs. He didn't respond. As a response to his ignorant behaviour, I kicked his bumper. Hard enough to leave a few scratches. He roared and transformed just 2 seconds after. 'What the hell!' he yelled back. He raised his servo to hit me. 'Hey!' Ratchet marched over to us and shove Sunstreaker against the wall. 'She scratched my paint job!' he sneered, pushing Ratchet away. 'And you are stalking me! Stay away from me, you dickhead!' I screamed glaring daggers. I was boiling, and I was pretty sure he was too. 'This is enough. Leave Sky.' I turned on my heels and marched off.
((Sunstreaker's P.O.V))
'Leave her alone, Sunstreaker.'
'Did you see what she did? She scratched my paint job! I spend hours buffing my paint job, and she has the guts to kick me! Apparently, she didn't get the memo! She's dead meat–' he cut me off. 'Then don't be on her tailpipe all the time. I am bloody serious about it... leave her alone; stop chasing her around.' I turned away from him. 'Who do you think you are, Ratchet? I am going to murder her... stupid piece of broken meat,' I grunted. 'Give her some slack... both her parents were murdered, and she can't standdon'tact you are killing people too and didn't get any punishment.'
'No punishment? She clearly has no idea of what the humans made you do... my Energon levels are so low that I am in pain every single second. My systems are messed up, and the mood stabilizers make me sick. After you give it to me, I have been sick for three days. I don't have human money because they froze my bank account. I can't even buy a pencil!' Ratchet approached me. 'You need to calm yourself down, Sunstreaker.' I glared. 'I am done. I am so done with all of this...' He shook his helmet. 'Please, I know you're in pain, that's why I am trying to give you my part of the Energon sometimes... just– I can't have you be fed up.'
'I am still going to slaughter the piece of meat like a pig in a slaughterhouse,' I scolded. 'Let me handle her; if you hurt her, you get into more trouble. Is that what you want?' I squinted my optics. 'I can't keep defending and saving you, Sunstreaker... please, calm yourself down, and we'll talk later when you've calmed down.' I snorted and shook my helm. 'She shouldn't have killed me...' I scanned the hangar to see who was following what was happening, but to my surprise, almost no one was around. 'You stalked her...' I shot him a glare. 'I will talk to her; just leave her alone.' I snorted and marched off.
((Sky's P.O.V))
I was so mad. If Sunstreaker keeps being an ass, I will leave Washington DC and return home. That mech is disgusting. I shook my head and tried to do some paperwork, but I was too angry. 'Sky?' I turned around with a pile of papers in my arms. 'I am working, Ratchet.' I tried to pass, but he didn't let me. 'You can't yell or kick him... you will make things worse.' This only pissed me off even more. 'So I should just let him stalk me like prey!?' I almost shouted. He shut the door. 'Sky, you will make things worse. If you want him to stop, you should start ignoring him. He will kill you if you keep up this attitude. 'Then keep that monster away from me.'
'He's not a monster... he's misunderstood,' he corrected me. It doesn't matter what he is; I don't want anything to do with him. 'If you want to make it up to him, you should buff out the scratches you made.' This was the limit. Buffing out the scratches I made for stalking me? I glared, and I was trembling. My anger was pretty evident by now. Ratchet spoke before I could make an angry statement. 'And you will because if you don't, you will be dead before these 30 days are over.' I couldn't believe it. I stepped closer. 'Tell him he can rot in hell... if Satan even wants him.' I shove him aside.
'Do you want to be here or not?'
His question caught me off guard. 'Well?' I turned around, eying him. 'I wouldn't be here if I didn't want to be here.' Ratchet took the papers from me. 'Then you will get the scratches from his paint job,' he stated. I snorted and shook my head. 'Or do you want to be dead tomorrow?'
'Fine, but only under one condition.' He hummed. 'You keep that ugly piece of shit away from me because next time, I will shoot him, and I don't care about the damn consequences.' He nodded. 'sure...' He waved his hand. I snitched the papers back. 'I will do it when I have time.' I left him standing in the conference room.
By the end of the day, when I was about to go home, Ratchet searched for me again. 'You said you would do something about these scratches...' He stated, crossing his arms. 'Did I?' I muttered, banging the locker shut. He nodded and gestured or me to follow him. 'How long will it take? I am not going to waste my evening on that monster,' I muttered. 'He's not a monster.' I rolled my eyes. Ratchet pushed open the door to some storage room I had never been in and grabbed a few things. 'He will explain to you how it works.'
'This feels like a punishment. Do I need to remind you that that thing was stalking me?' I snapped. 'And before you remark, he didn't harm me... he did! You have seen it,' I scolded. 'It's not a punishment... this getting on his good side so you won't die,' he muttered. I rolled my eyes and followed him into the hangar. He stopped and gestured at the yellow Lamborgini. With a cranky expression, I made my way over to him. 'Do you want those stupid scratches out or not!?' I snapped. There was a brief silence before his holoform fizzled in. 'I do...' he looked at what I was holding. 'Good, then move aside and stay two yards away from me,' I snapped. 'You are going to buff my hood. That's the first thing people see when I drive into the hangar; of course, I will not stay two yards away.' We glared.
'Come on, kids. Play nice.' Ratchet approached and raised his hands at peace. 'Sunstreaker, why don't you tell her how you want her, and there's no need to yell.' Sunstreaker and I glared at each other. 'Fine...' he choked out with gritted teeth. He told me how to do it, but he wasn't making it easy for me. Even when I was doing it, he constantly walked behind me, pointing at parts he wanted to be buffed or repainted. I stopped and looked over my shoulder. 'Can you fuck off? Be happy I am even willing to do this because, believe me... I rather shoot both your optics out.'
Ratchet stepped up again. 'Sunstreaker, give her some space to work.' He pushed the mech aside, and I quickly wrapped it up. 'Done. I am going home.' I got up. 'This is sloppy and rushed!' Sunstreaker pointed at his hood. 'What the hell are you talking about? Why don't you see it yourself then!' I yelled. 'Because you're the bitch here, and you're supposed to do as you're told.' I pushed the buffer in his hands. 'And you're the monster... a killer, and I don't care about your feeling or wishes.' I grabbed my purse and jacket. 'Rot in hell, Sunstreaker!' I screamed before I stormed off and went home.
