Chapter 10. Not sincere

I hadn't seen Sunstreaker for three days, and I wished he were just sticking to the agreement, but he wasn't at the base. He's probably out killing people. Why do they even allow him to leave the base, knowing what kind of monster he is? I kicked the wall. He shouldn't be out there. 'You look mad.' I yelped and turned around. My shock was replaced by anger. 'Look who got back!' I snapped. Sunstreaker slightly cocked his head to the side before he started smirking.

'Did you miss me?!'

'No! I didn't miss you. I thought you were sticking to our agreement, and then you just disappeared for three days. So, you can kill and torture people!' I prompted off. 'Hold on! Do you think I've been murdering people? That's what you think I was doing?' He snapped. He was much closer than I had expected. 'Why else do you leave for three days,' I scolded and halted. He almost bumped into me. 'I'm stupid even to think that you can change.' He glared. 'I haven't been killing! I was on a scouting mission! An approved mission. Optimus asked me, so if you don't believe me, ask him!' He spat. 'I will.'
He gritted his teeth. 'They say I have a problem, but so have you!' He snapped and passed. 'Me?' I snapped and marched after him. 'Yeah! All you think I do is kill people,' he hissed. 'Because you're a killer, of course, that's what you're thinking about!' I yelled. 'Why are you yelling!' He yelled back. 'Why are you yelling!'

'Kids! Stop it.' Ironhide grabbed me and pushed me aside. 'Tell her I wasn't killing people, Ironhide! She thinks I've been murdering and torturing people for three days,' he snapped. Ironhide sighed. 'He was on a mission, Sky. Don't be on his tailpipe all the time,' he snapped. 'Why doesn't he stay away from me then?' I hissed. 'I only came to say hi,' he snapped before passing. I watched him storm off. 'You had to do that?' He sighed. I snorted and turned around to leave. 'He was on a mission.' I heard Ironhide walk off.

Sure he was. How do they know for sure? It's not like they're watching him all the time. I shook my head and continued doing my rounds. Around the afternoon, I saw Sunstreaker sitting in the cafeteria. I halted and tried to take note of his current state. He fiddled with his knife while staring at something I couldn't see. It wasn't hard to see that he was agitated and bored. Not a good combo. With heavy feet, I strode over to his table. 'I am sorry....'I muttered and crossed my arms. 'That sound really sincere,' he snapped without looking. 'I am sorry....'I repeated in a different tone. 'Still not sincere.'

I huffed and crossed my arms. Sunstreaker still refused to look at me. 'I am sorry for accusing you of murder.' He still didn't reply. 'Fine, I was a bitch and assumed you were killing because you weren't at the base, and I hate you.' He turned his head. 'That also didn't sound like an apology.' I sat down. 'Then what do you want?' I snapped. 'I didn't ask for an apology. You're not sincere anyway. The only reason you are here trying to be sincere and apologize is that you're scared I will murder you, which will likely happen anyway.'

'Fine... then no apology.'

I got up. 'If you want to make it up to me, you can take me to Starbucks tomorrow morning.' I gazed at him and gritted my teeth. 'I am going to murder you one day.' I turned around. 'Is that a yes?' he called after me. 'Whatever.' I walked into the kitchen, and in my frustration, I bumped into someone. 'I am so sorry.' I took a step back. 'Oh, that's okay....' The soldier smiled. 'Sky, isn't it?' I nodded slightly. 'You're the troublemaker.' He snorted in amusement. I didn't know how to reply to that. 'I am Nate, by the way, and I am not a psychopath,' He mocked. I snorted and shook my head. Nate was smaller than Sunstreaker and less muscled. I guess he was around my age and still a newbie. I grabbed some food. 'You'd like to have lunch together?' I nodded and followed him to the table. 'I totally get it, though... I would also be disgusted.' Nate gestured at Sunstreaker. I sucked in a breath. 'And you got a lot of courage to stand up to him like that... I wouldn't even dare get into a fight with him.' He smiled sheepishly. 'Yeah...' I poked in my salad and changed the subject. 'You're a newbie?' He nodded. 'Six months.' I hummed. Nate turned his head to glance at Sunstreaker again. It only proved that he was curious about him and what was happening between us. There wasn't much to say about it. I hate and dislike him, and I guess the message was clear.

'Have you heard about that party?' I raised a brow. 'Party?' He hummed. 'Yeah, in two weeks,' he explained. 'No.'
'Well, you should come. The parties here are great.' He flashed me a friendly smile. 'What are we celebrating?' I cocked my head to the side. 'Oh, the Autobots are on earth for ten years. At least, some of them.' I hummed and started thinking. 'Jazz's idea, you know how he is.'

The following day, Sunstreaker was waiting for me in the lobby. 'There you are, I thought you wouldn't show up anymore,' he scolded. I snorted and strolled towards the hangar where his alt-mode was parked. 'So... that human, huh...' he began as I hopped in and buckled up. 'Yeah?' I looked out of the window. 'I thought you didn't have any friends around here, so I'm just suspired to see you talking to someone other than your uncle or me.'

'The only reason we talk is that you can't stay away from me, and yes, I am making 'real' friends around here unlike you,' I muttered. It came out much meaner than I intended. 'I don't think Nate will stick around you for too long, though.' I glanced at him. 'And why is that?' I snapped. 'Because you're cold, mean, and not looking for friends. You're just looking for a scapegoat, and while I can handle your bitchy behavior, I doubt he can. You chase everyone away; isn't that why your friends blocked you on social media and don't want to talk to you anymore?'

'It's not any of your damn business... I do have friends, and the only reason I am a bitch is because of you,' I snapped. 'Yeah, I bet.' He rolled his eyes. 'And where did you even get that information from?' I muttered. 'I just know.' He shrugged his shoulders while looking for a parking spot.
'Besides, I get free Starbucks because of your behavior.' I rolled my eyes and unbuckled as he cut his engine. Before he could make another statement, I hopped out. 'Just for you to realize... not all psychopaths are tolerant as I am.'

I almost started laughing. 'Seriously? You attacked me twice.' He locked his alt-mode. 'Yeah, well... in most cases, you would've been dead already. I'm not unreasonable.' I shot him a glare. 'Do I need to remind you that I have a twin brother that's the opposite of what I am? I might lack some emotions, but it doesn't mean I don't know what someone can go through. My twin is a very sensitive mech, he's learning me everything that I'm supposed to know about emotions.'

I pushed open the door. 'I bet.' It was crowded, which meant we had to wait longer. 'I can be nice,' he finished. 'Yeah?' I crossed my arms while looking around. 'I'm being nice now while I don't have any reason to be nice to you. Other killers would've murdered you already and I've dreamed about it, believe me.' I met his icy blue orbs. 'Right, and what changed your mind then?'

'I don't know. Perhaps I like seeing broken people.' He wiggled his eyebrows. I sucked in a breath. 'I was gone for three days and you kept thinking about me... I should feel fluttered.' I rolled my eyes. He nudged me. 'Come on... didn't you miss me just a tiny bit?' I shook my head. 'No.' He huffed and looked at the board. 'I've never tried a Frappuccino before... have you?' I shook my head. 'No.'

'Hmm, I'll go for the Java chip.' He looked at me. 'Vanilla cream,' I said stiffly. 'And the blueberry scone.' I huffed and shook my head. 'Take one too, I don't want to be the only one eating.' He ordered for both of us and I paid. We sat down at a small table. I removed my jacket. 'No one calls you Sunny...'
'I don't want to give them my real name. They misspell it anyway. No, Sideswipe calls me Sunny. I hate the nickname but I start to miss it.' The lady walked up to us and gave us our order. 'Well... they even managed to misspell your nickname. They missed an 'n', idiots.' He snorted and shrugged.

'So, just for me to know... you're only here to do your job and then go back to California?' I nodded and sipped from my Frappuccino. 'Right, well... we are stuck with each other...' he trailed off. I glanced at him. 'No, we are not. I'm not stuck with you.' He didn't reply. 'You're just gonna live your life and I'm going to live mine. There's nothing in between. We are not friends and we never will be either.'

'Right...'

A silence fell. I ate the scone. 'Can you do one more thing for me?' I raised a brow. 'And what would that be?' I muttered. 'There's an art store down the street. I only need some pencils and a sketchbook.' I sighed. 'Didn't I spend enough money on you already?' I muttered. 'Come on... I need it.' I shook my head. 'I'm not your money dispenser. Go ask Prime or whatever. You're good buddies with Ratchet, right?' I waved my hand. 'Humans don't allow me to use the money I have on my bank account. What do you want in return?'

'No! My answer is no! Shut up about it!'

Some people looked up. 'Fine, whatever.' He slumped back. 'Are you going to that... party thing next month?' I raised a brow. 'Nate told me a little bit about yesterday. Why? You're going?' I mocked. 'Does it sound strange if I say yes?' I bit my lip. 'You don't look like the party type of person.' He shook his head. 'No, I don't want to be the wallflower, that's something different. Before, I had my twin. I was just curious if you go...' he trailed off. 'I don't know. I don't like parties.'

I gazed at him. 'You don't sound confident. Which is not something that happens to a psychopath very often.' He shot me a glare. 'I don't like to be called a psychopath. Especially not in public,' he snapped quietly and looked around to see if anyone had heard me. 'You're ashamed?'
He glared. I got up. 'I'm done.' I got up and grabbed my jacket. 'You're gonna walk?'
'It's ten minutes from here.' I grabbed my half-empty cup and left Starbucks.
