Chapter 18. the Inkling Conspiracy

"Do you blame me?" Lincoln asked.

He and Luan were sitting in Lincoln's room on the ship. They had moved one of the beds from Luan's room (which she had shared with the now late Luna) into Lincoln's room so she could sleep in there until they got back to Earth.

"No, I just." Luan looked out the window. Into the darkness of space. The ship wasn't moving. No one knew where to go. It was a time of morning on Shipzilla. "I kind of wish you had made the other choice. To go back to Earth and help Zax fight the Red King."

"We don't know if that would have saved Luna." Lincoln said.

"You didn't even care." Luan said. "When Crow threw those boots on the ground, all you cared about was that stupid computer. All you wanted was to know The Red King's name. you didn't even react to Luna being dead."

"Luan of course I care." Lincoln said. "It's just, a lot was happening all at once. But believe me, I miss her too."

"The Red King is a murderer," Luan said through her tears. "That's all I need to know. I want him to pay for what he did, for what he took from us."

"I want him to pay too." Lincoln said. "but we can't just go on a mindless revenge trip. Especially not against a guy like The Red King. He can make you explode just by thinking about it."

"you have the same powers he has." Luan said. "You can kill him."

"Luan, I don't even know how these powers work." Lincoln said. "They just showed up out of nowhere. And if I'm being honest, they scare me. Plus, whatever happens to him, happens to me. What do you think will happen to me if I kill the Red King?"

"Then we'll just have to break that quantum entanglement thing." Luan said.

"Then I'd lose my powers." Lincoln said.

"We can take him." Luan said. "If we all work together."

"Luan he would rip through us like toilet paper." Lincoln said.

"I don't care," Luan said. "I don't care if I die. I just want the Red King to suffer."

Lincoln had never seen Luan like this before. It scared him.

...

Meanwhile in Lisa's room...

Lisa starred at the DNA scanner she had used to scan a sample of the Red King's blood. Even after all this time, it was only 70% complete.

"Hey, Pal." Lisa said. "Why is this thing so frustratingly slow?"

"Probably because it's older than the ship." Pal replied.

"Goo?" Lilly said.

"I don't know if it's a gift or a curse," Lisa said. "That you will likely never remember any of this."

Lincoln woke up the next morning... or the next best thing to morning as there was no morning in space.

"Morning Lincoln." Luan said.

"Morning."

"About last night." Luan said. "I hope you don't think I'm mad at you or something."
"I don't." Lincoln smiled.

The group gathered in the main deck.

"Ok guys, we really need to talk about something." Lori said. "We need to discuss what to do next. I know we're all really sad, but we can't just sit around in space waiting to starve to death."

"I think we should go to that inkling place." Lynn suggested. "Put a stop to what's going on there."

"No." Luan said. "We should head to the Singularity and kill the Red King."

"We'd need to go to Earth before we do that." Lori said. "Even if we could hurt the Red King. We can't kill him while Lincoln's still connected to him, or else Lincoln dies too."

"Yeah, I'm all in favor of any solution that doesn't kill me." Lincoln said.

"Look we've been out here for months Luan." Lori said. "And in a beat up junker of a ship, No offense Pal."

"None taken Lori." Pal said.

"I get that you want revenge Luan. We all do." Lori said. "But, without some super technology like the raptors have, it'll take months to get to the Singularity."

"I don't care." Luan said. "He killed Luna. All that's left of her is her severed legs. He can't get away with that. Michael, you've been silent this whole time, what's your deal?"

"I don't know." Michael said. "I just... I didn't think Red would be the kind of guy to do that to Luna. Something don't seem right."

"Nothing about this is right." Luan said.

"Well Alpha Centaury is the closest star to Earth." Lisa said.

"So, we could go back to Earth and rescue the inklings on the way." Michael suggested. "It'll take longer though."

"Well what's happening to those inklings is absolutely unacceptable." Lynn said. "We can't let that go on.

"So, you gonna become a vegetarian after this?" Michael said.

"No," Lynn replied. "A cow and a person are completely different things."

"Well I come from a race of hunters and carnivores." Michael said. "So, I won't argue with that."

Shipzilla once again jumped into hyperspace, heading for the Inkling home world in the Alpha Centauri system.

...

The Inkling's planet was not that different from Earth, plenty of oceans and forests. As Shipzilla entered the atmosphere, the Louds could make out hundreds of lights from many cities on the ground.

"Ok so those are CLEARLY modern cities!" Lynn said. "How could anyone think these guys aren't sentient?"

"Let's land in a field somewhere, we don't wanna cause a panic." Lori said.

Shipzilla touched down just outside of a small town.

The group headed down the ramp to the ground. They could see a group of houses in the distance.

"Wow, this looks a lot like our neighborhood back home." Luan pointed out. "Are you sure we're not on earth?"

"Yes, I'm sure." Lori said. "So how do we start here? We need to find out where that meet plant is. The one Yog Sathoth told us about."

"He did give us coordinates." Michael said. "And I wrote them down. Shouldn't be too far from here."

They quickly hid behind a nearby house.

"What do we do when we get there?" Lynn asked. "Do we have any weapons?"

"I brought my lightsaber." Lincoln pointed out. "I tend to bring it everywhere lately. I'm practically a Jedi."

"Shh..." Lori said as a figure stepped out of the front of the house. It looked like a young woman, but the light was low, so no details could be made out. She seemed to be taking out the trash.

The louds ducked back behind the house.

"Is she still there?" Luan asked.

Lynn poked her head around the corner. "I don't see her... GAH!"

Something hard hit Lynn in the back of her head and knocked her to the ground. She looked up to see one of the Inkling creatures standing before her, holding a bat.

The Inkling was female, most likely the young woman they saw just moments before. She had black hair (or at least the tentacles that Inklings had in place of hair) and gold colored eyes. She wore a pink knit cap with a pink sweater over a white t-shirt.

"Don't move alien!" The Inkling said.

"Whoa!" the other siblings came out from behind the house.

"Uh... I'm not an alien." Lynn protested.

"Actually Lynn." Lincoln said. "To them, we are aliens."

"Wow, mind blown." Lynn said.

Michael walked up to the inkling. "We come in peace ma'am."

"WWWAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!" The Inkling shrieked in terror at the sight of Michael.

"Was it something I said?' Michael asked.

"Uh Michael," Lori said. "No offense, but you literally look terrifying."

"Psh, nah I'm not scary." Michael said.

"You're a talking raptor who's also part robot." Lori said.

"Fair point." Michael said.

"He's right though," Lori said to the inkling. "We do come in peace."

"You guys are visitors from another planet, right?" The inkling said. "Aliens?"

"Yeah basically." Lynn said, getting back to her feet, rubbing her head.

"You guys don't look as scary as I thought you would." The Inkling said. "Aside from the robot guy. He's pretty scary."

"Don't worry." Lori said. "Michael's actually really nice. Don't let his looks fool you."

"So, you guys aren't here to take me away?" The Inkling asked.

"No," Lori said.

"We're actually here to stop the bad aliens who are hunting your people." Lynn said.

"Oh, well in that case. I'm Callie." The Inkling extended a hand.

Lori shook Callie's hand and introduced herself and her siblings.

"So where are you guys from?" Callie asked. "Like, what's the name of your home planet?"

"We're from a place called Earth." Lori said. "Except for Michael, he's from another planet."

"Bsepatica." Michael said.

"Well I must apologize. I can't really take you to our leader." Callie said. "I don't have those kinds of connections. I'm just a singer."

"A singer?" Luan said. "man, Luna would be so happy to hear that."

"Luna?" Callie said.

"Another one of our sisters." Luan said. "She's gone now."

"We're not here to see your leaders." Lori said. "We just came to do this one thing, and then leave."

"Yeah, we'll have to get going quick." Luan said. "We have a score to settle."

"I'm guessing you guys have had a lot of reports of people going missing." Lisa asked. "Perhaps accompanied by reports of strange lights or UFO sightings."

"Well yeah." Callie said. "Strange beings too."

"Did they look anything like him?" Luan pointed at Michael.

"No... I've never hear anyone mention no robot bird men." Callie said.

"Giant bugs?" Michael said.

"No, but that does sound terrifying." Callie said. "I'm no reporter or anything. I just know what I see in the news. A lot of what people claim varies. And I'm sure a lot of the reports are hoaxes. Then again I am looking at a group of aliens right in front of me."

"Well we have coordinates to where your people may have been taken." Michael said.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" Callie asked.

"Uh, yeah sure you can come with us to help free the other inklings." Lori suggested. "and Lisa. How about you take Lily into the ship until we get back. This is too dangerous for her."

"Sounds good, I've been meaning to check my DNA scanner anyway." Lisa said.

"DNA scanner?" Lori said.

"Yeah, remember? I was scanning a DNA sample of The Red King." Lisa said.

...

Lisa checked her DNA scanner once she got into her room on the ship. It was at 90%.

"We're getting close Lily." Lisa said. "Once this scan is complete, we will know exactly what sort of creature The Red King is. I'm sure Lucy with her superstitions and everything would claim that The Red King is something beyond our understanding, that we can't just scan to find the answers to. But as she and the rest of our siblings will find out. There is nothing that science can't understand."

Lily let out a confused, "Goo?"

"Oh, sweet baby sibling." Lisa said. "You'll understand all this one day when you're older. Though I'm sure you won't remember any of this. Sadly, you probably won't even remember our recently passed elder sibling Luna. But worry not, our siblings and I will make sure to tell you all about her when you're older. I suppose I should go say a few words to her. I never really did get to say goodbye."

Lisa left her room and headed to Luna's.

She opened the door to see Luna's boots sitting on her bed.

Lisa climbed onto the bed.

"Oh, elder sibling." Lisa said. "I'm not usually very good at these things, and I know at this point you're just a pare of severed legs standing upright in a pair of blood-soaked purple rock boots, that really should be stored in some sort of cooler, so you don't start to rot. But perhaps there is some part of you left out there floating in the cosmos that can here me. I uh... I really don't know what to say. I know we weren't the closest siblings in the family. But it's not like I didn't care about you, and it's not like I won't miss you... ugh... what I'm trying to say is... hey wait a minute..."

Lisa moved closer to the boots to get a good look.

"Holy Heisenberg!" Lisa exclaimed. "And I am of course referring to the German scientist, and not the main character from the award-winning TV show breaking bad."

...

"Wow, I can barely even tell we're not on Earth right now." Lori said as the group made their way across an open meadow. The sound of some sort of bugs chirping could be heard in the distance, and the sky was filled with stars.

"This place even has their own version of fireflies." Luan pointed out a group of tiny glowing bugs floating in the air.

"Careful around those." Callie warned. "They have powerful sting."

"Ok so we avoid the fireflies." Luan said.

They soon came across an old warehouse surrounded by a metal fence.

"These are the coordinates." Michael said.

"Why this just looks like an old warehouse." Callie said. "Not what I would expect from some evil alien base."

"Hiding in plain sight." Michael said. "Something space pirates often do. Galactic authorities don't tend to look for old rundown places like this."

"And it's just guarded by a fence?" Lynn said. "You'd think they'd have more security."

"Well if no one thinks anything is going on here, there not likely to look." Michael explained.

"It's not even electrified." Lynn said.

"Well I can get past that easily." Callie said. Then she pulled out what looked like a squirt gun full of ink. She shot the ink at the fence creating a puddle on the ground below the fence. Then Callie transformed into some sort of tiny squid creature and vanished into the ink. She popped up on the other side of the fence turning back into her humanoid form.

"Well we can't do that." Lori said.

"I guess that's why they call them inklings." Luan said.

"So, what can you guys do?" Callie asked.

"We'll just climb over this thing." Lynn said. "it'll be super easy."

The siblings and Michael all climbed the fence.

They made their way to the building.

"it's locked." Callie said, trying to open the front door. "And I don't see any way I can slip through this."

"I think I can open this." Lincoln said. He pointed at the handle and a blue laser shot out of his finger and melted the lock. The door swung open.

"Wow," Callie said. "So, can you all do that?"

"Unfortunately, no." Lynn grumbled.

"It's just me." Lincoln said. "Really I'm not exactly sure how I got these powers. Something about being quantumly entangled with the... with someone else who has them."

"Quanta-what?" Callie said in a confused voice.

"It's complicated." Lincoln said. "Even I don't understand it."

The group entered the building.

"WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" Callie shrieked in horror.

The group was horrified at what they had walked into. The building was one large room. From the ceiling hung the bodies of hundreds of dead inklings. The room was lined with grizzly machines one would expect to find in a slaughterhouse.

The machines were covered in some sort of blue goo.

"Ew what is this stuff?" Lynn asked, stepping in a puddle of the blue liquid.

"Lynn, that's blood!" Callie said.

"Uh, no it's not." Lynn said. "Blood is red, not blue."

Callie raised an eyebrow.

"Your blood is red." Michael said to Lynn. "Callie and her people aren't human remember."

"So, you guys have blue blood?" Lynn said.

"You have red blood?" Callie said.

"Hey look." Lori pointed to a rusty old cage with a group of inklings trapped inside. The inklings were asleep. Until one woke up.

"Hey guys." The caged inkling said to the others. "It's Callie... and some other people."

"Let's go see if we can free them." Lori said. "Before whoever owns this horror show notices us."

"Well whoever's doing this is probably in bed now." Leni said.

Suddenly they heard footsteps from behind them. The group turned around.

"Oxites?" Michael said as a group of rock people (the race that Zax and his sister belong too) closed in on them.

(Note: I had originally called these creatures "Oxan" which was a randomly generated name btw. But in this chapter, I decided to change the name to "Oxites" as "Oxan" sounded too close to the real life animal "Oxen" which are a completely different beast all together. So I changed the name to avoid confusion.)

"So Zax is behind this?" Lynn said.

"Zax knows nothing of this." A voice came from behind the group. "This is my doing."

The siblings turned around to see Zax's sister Gaya standing in the middle of the room.

"Gaya?" Lori said. "But... what? Why?"

"We are at war with The Red King." Gaya said. "And our nation is outnumbered and outmatched. Sure, we may be a tough and strong people. But the raptors, they have such greater technology than us, and they are far more fearsome than we are. We may be able to regenerate from our injuries, but the raptors have powerful machines that can incinerate and entire army. What are you going to regenerate from when you've been completely turned into dust?

And then there is the Red King himself. A brutal and determined leader. An absolute brute of a man who can make a volcano erupt with just a snap of his fingers.

If we are to have any hope against... against THAT! We need resources, we need money. I saw how much inkling meet is worth on the black market, so I started this side project without my brother's knowledge, in order to fund the war efforts.

I know how bad this is... I had doubts myself. Butchering these people like cattle, I know is not the best thing to do. I was starting to feel remorse, until I saw The Red King insult nature by burning down an entire forest.

Then I knew that defeating the Red King is the only thing that matters in this universe. He must be destroyed by any means necessary. At any coast, at any sacrifice, the Red King's rule must end."

There was a few moments of silence.

"I understand." Leni said.

"You do?" Gaya said.

"Yeah I understand," Leni repeated. "I understand... THAT YOU'RE A FUCKING PSYCHO! YOU LITTLE BITCH! AND WE'RE GOING TO STOP YOU!"

Gaya chuckled.

Green crystal spikes rose up around the group, trapping them.

Lincoln sent out a shockwave and shattered one of the spikes so he could get out. The Oxite guards moved in on Lincoln.

"Wait." Gaya said. "Leave the boy to me."

Gaya's eyes started to glow green. Vines erupted from the ground and wrapped around Gaya's body, lifting her in the air to make her look more intimidating.

"You are just a boy." Gaya said. "And I am a goddess. You may think you're tough, but it's time someone put you in your place."

Lincoln ignited his lightsaber.

"Lincoln." Michael said from within the crystalized cage. "These Oxites can grow back limbs. But if you cut off her head, or destroy her heart, you will kill her."

Gaya threw a couple vines at Lincoln, witch Lincoln blocked with his saber.

Vines grew from the ground at Lincoln's feet and wrapped around his body. He created a bubble of energy around him that ripped the vines off of himself.

"Those aren't even your powers kid." Gaya said. "You don't even know how to use them. Give up little boy."

Lincoln shot a blast of energy at Gaya that knocked her across the room. Slamming her into the far wall. Gay got back to her feet. She reached her hand toward Lincoln and shot a stream of green crystals at the young boy.

Lincoln created a shield of blue energy in front of him to block the crystals. Then he used his powers to grab Gaya and smush her to the ground. Then he dragged her across the ground.

Then the roof was torn from the building. The tree that was beside the building had come alive and ripped the roof off with its branches.

Lincoln lost his focus and his grip on Gaya.

"You stupid little boy." Gaya said, getting back to her feet. "You are a child! A little boy who thinks he's a man. But I AM A GODESS!"

The tree reached down with its finger-like branches to grab Lincoln.

Lincoln shot a blast of blue flames at the tree. The tree was quickly consumed in blue fire and reduced to ashes.

"Yeah, but you're using plants to fight fire." Lincoln said. "I thought you were supposed to be wise."

"NO!" Gaya yelled. "NO! NO! NO! I am the embodiment of mother nature. The antient Greeks worshiped me! Even the gods of Olympus would have kneeled before me if they existed! I will not be defeated by some little boy! Lincoln Loud, YOU ARE NOT BETTER THAN ME!!!!!"

Then Lincoln shot a blast of fire in Gaya's face, once again knocking her down. Once the smoke cleared Gaya got to her knees. The hair on the right side of her head had been singed off. Strands of green hair hung down from her forehead in front of the psychotic look on her face.

"You know." Gaya said. "your connection with him goes much deeper than simple quantum entanglement. Look at you, your strength, your determination, your brutality. You are more like the Red King than you know."

Lincoln brought his saber to Gaya's neck.

"Come on kid do it." Gaya said, followed by a psychotic giggle. "Kill me. What? never killed anyone before have you?"

Lincoln put away his lightsaber. "I... I can't do it."

"THEN ALLOW ME!" A deep and sinister voice echoed through the building.

A black rift opened up behind Gaya.

"GAH!" Gaya screamed as a black snake creature shot out of the rift, dug into Gaya's back and burst out of her chest.

What was probably Gaya's blood splattered all over Lincoln's face. It was green and sparkly, almost like toothpaste.

The massive crystals that had enclosed the rest of the group shattered, letting them free.

Gay was lifted in the air by the thing that had just skewered her. The rift grew larger and a massive set of pointy white teeth inched their way out. The teeth were followed by a face as black as tar with red glowing demonic eyes.

It was now clear that the snake creature that had pierced Gaya's body was only the tongue of this much larger creature.

The enormous jaws snapped shut around Gaya's body. Gaya's head, and one of her arms hit the ground with a thud.

Lincoln fell back on his butt. The only thing he could do was watch in terror. A sense of anxiety and dread filled his body, prohibiting him from moving a single muscle.

The monster swallowed Gaya's body and gave a twisted grin. More faces emerged from the dark alongside the big one. The smaller faces slithered out of the darkness like dark twisted snakes or black mutant eels.

More of the snake creatures oozed out of the ground, slithering through the air, surrounding the loud siblings.

The siblings, along with Michael and Callie huddled closer together.

Everyone in the group was frozen in fear. Lynn broke down crying.

"What...what are you?" Lincoln choked out.

"I'm a fan." Every mouth said at once, in one voice. It was now clear that each of these things were all part of one being.

"What do you mean a fan?" Lincoln asked.

"A fan of you! Of the Loud House." The creature smiled. "You're my favorite show. Well, one of them anyway. You're no Rick and Morty of course, but you know... Tell you what. as a thank you for all the entertainment, I'll do a little favor for you guys."

Rifts opened up behind each of the Oxite guards, and the alien rock creatures were pulled into the darkness by black inky tentacles.

"Now I suppose you want to get back to your sibling." The shadow laughed.

"You mean Luna?" Luan said. "What do you know about Luna? The Red King is going to pay for what he's done to her!!!!"

One of the snake creatures got into Luan's face.

"Oh, you don't know do you?" The Shadow mocked. "Well this is exciting. Oh, the look on your faces when you find out the truth, when you find out who the Red King really is."

"Who is he?" Lincoln asked.

"Uh, uh." The Shadow said. "I don't want to spoil the ending for you."

Then the monster vanished.

"What was that thing?" Lynn asked, her whole body, trembling.

"I've never been so scared in my life." Lola said.

"I think that was the shadow." Lori said. "The monster Zax told us about, when we were on that jungle planet."

"Lincoln, come in Lincoln." Lisa's voice rang out of the earpiece in Lincoln's ear.

"Whoa, I forgot I even had this thing in here." Lincoln said. "Lisa, what's going on. Is something wrong? Are you and Lily ok?"

"We're fine." Lisa said. "But you guys need to come here immediately. I just discovered something that needs your attention."

"Guys we gotta get back to the ship." Lincoln said.

"I'll stay here, and free the other inklings." Callie said. "Thanks for helping me save my people."

...

The Louds and Michael quickly made it back to the ship.

"Lisa what's going on?" Lincoln asked. "What's this urgent news?"

Lisa was holding Luna's boots.

"This." Lisa said. She scooped up a bit of the blood from one of the boots with her finger and stuck it in her mouth.

"EW!" the siblings all cringed.

"Lisa what's wrong with you?" Lincoln said. "That's your sister's blood!"

"Look again brother." Lisa tossed one of the boots to Lincoln.

He caught it and took a closer look.

"Hey wait a minute." Lincoln took a sample of the "blood" with his own finger. He felt it a bit, sniffed it, then finally licked it. "This is just ketchup!"

"KETCHUP!?!?" The rest of the siblings said.

Luan took the other boot and pulled out what they had all until now assumed was a dismembered leg.

"And this so-called leg is made of plastic." Luan held what looked like a cheep prop from a Halloween store.

"Wow," Leni said. "I never knew Luna was made out of plastic and ketchup."

"No, Leni." Lori said. "Those aren't Luna's legs. We've been duped."

"So then..." Luan said. "Luna could still be alive!"

"Um... you have an incoming message." Pal said.

"Patch it through." Lori said.

The siblings all gasped when Luna appeared on the screen.

"Hey guys." Luna said.

"Luna! You're alive!" Luan celebrated.

Not just alive, but Luna didn't even seem to be in any sort of distress. She was clean, she was smiling, she looked to be in better shape than the rest of them.

"Luna, are you ok?" Lori said. "Are you hurt? Are you being held against your will? What's going on?"

"I'm just fine dudes." Luna said.

"Where are you?" Lincoln asked.

"I'm on the singularity." Luna explained. "You know, the Red King's ship."

"That monster better not have hurt you." Luan clenched her fists.

"No, no he didn't but um..." Luna said. "You guys should really make your way back here. We uh... we kind of got everything wrong... real wrong."
