Chapter 16: Pokerface
The Red King stood in the ashes of the forest he burned down.
An area the size of 5 New York cities was reduced to ash from The Red King's actions, setting fire to the forest and willing the volcano to erupt. All to find 11 kids.
Red took a look at the scorched remains of a carnivorous tree.
"Looks like I'm the one making the nightmares now." The Red King smirked.
"Was it worth it?" An angry voice came from behind the King.
Red turned around to see one of the raptor scientists who had worked at the Bsepotican research facility on the planet.
"Well shit, I don't think so." Red Said. "The Louds escaped."
"The Louds?" The scientist scorned. "What about the damn forest? Do you have any idea what kind of damage you've caused here? The scientific data on this planet is worth more than the metals found in a hundred dead planets."
"Do you have any idea what those kids mean to me?" Red said.
"I DON'T CARE!!!!" The scientist shouted. Then he picked up the fried carcass of some sort of animal. "This gooble gobble, was an endangered species. And now it's extinct thanks to you and your search for those kids! I don't give a crap who you are, a king or a freaking hobo, you can't just go around destroying entire ecosystems whenever you feel like it."
"Relax?" The Red King said. "I can fix this."
"Fix this?" The scientist said. "There is no fixing this!"
"That's what you think," Red said. Then he took out a communicator. "Guys, begin cleanup operations immediately."
Then an army of saucers came down from the sky and began to suck up water from the nearby lakes and rivers and poured it on the fires to put them out.
"So you think just putting out the fires is going to..."
Then a group of saucers flew over the massive flows of lava and started sucking up the lava.
"What do you want with all that lava?" The scientist asked.
"I have a few projects I'm working on." The Red King said.
Then a saucer flew over the still living part of the forest and started to abduct some of the trees and wildlife. The saucer then took the specimens up to the cruiser orbiting the planet, where the raptors quickly started to clone the flora and fauna of the jungle planet.
In a few moments another group of saucers descended into the atmosphere. The saucers started firing seeds into the ground.
"We're going to want to get out of the immediate area," The Red King warned. "that is if you don't want to be turned into dust."
"What?" The scientist said.
Another saucer escorted the two of them to the research center just outside the burned area.
The Raptors then planted large metal rods all around the burned area, where they have now planted thousands of seeds.
A large force field formed over the area. Within the force field gravity was manipulated in a way that actually caused time itself to speed up by hundreds of years.
Within a few short moments, what was once a barren land of ash, was once again a dense and lush forest. More saucers came down to let hundreds of cloned animals free into the wild.
"What was that?" The scientist asked.
"Reforestation." Red said. "And trust me. My boys have taken on much bigger projects than this. Pretty sure some lesser societies have formed religions fallowing us, but don't quote me on that. But you know you're a raptor too. I'm surprised you didn't know we could do this. Then again you are just a literary device to represent the audience in this situation, so I'll overlook it."
...
Shipzilla had blasted off into hyperspace, heading to the coordinates of an alien casino on a distant asteroid.
The Louds sat on the main deck of the ship.
"Well I'm glad the duct tape is holding up even in hyperspace." Lori said.
"Of course!" Pal said. "Almost 20% of this ship has been repaired using duct tape over the years."
"We picked the right name for this ship then." Lynn said. "Thing's falling apart just as much as Vanzilla back home."
"Home." The siblings all repeated thinking of their lives back on Earth.
"Poor Boo boo bear is probably a literal wreck without me." Lori said.
"Yeah, and what about Mom and Dad?" Luna asked.
"Well they'll all be happy once we get back." Lincoln said. "And we will get back. Hopefully it won't be like some Interstellar type situation where everyone we know back home has aged a hundred years. I don't think Clyde will want to go ghost hunting with me if he's close to becoming one himself."
"And I don't think anyone on my team is going to be able to do many sports if they're all in their 80s." Lynn added.
"So, what's the plan for this heist?" Lola asked.
Lincoln was looking at the blueprints of the casino on his computer.
"Well," He said. "I do have something in mind. But we'll need someone to distract this Vinny the Bug guy."
"How do we do that?" Lola asked. "Should I use my dazzling good looks?"
"Eh, no." Lincoln said. "He's hosting a poker tournament, right? So, we just need someone to enter the tournament and play good enough that the game keeps going. We'll need someone with a good poker face. Someone with a deadpan look, who shows no emotion."
The siblings all turned to Lucy.
"What?" Lucy said. "Why are you all looking at me?"
"I'll also need Lynn's acrobatics, and Lisa's computer hacking skills." Lincoln said. "Hey Pal, do you have any sort of high-tech sci fi device that can store large objects in a small space?"
"I know a place where we can get an infinite storage hyper cube." Pal replied.
"Great!" Lincoln said.
"I have the ship set to a 24-hour clock to simulate the days on your home planet." Pal said. "Humans such as yourselves require sleep. I suggest you go to bed. We'll stop off at that place I mentioned tomorrow."
"Psh, I'm not even tired." Lynn said.
"Hey Lincoln." Lori said. "After what you've been through, I don't think you should sleep alone tonight. How about you share a room with me and Leni tonight."
"Uh, yeah sure, that sounds great." Lincoln said.
...
Back on earth, Clyde McBride discovered that the Loud House was surrounded by cops and reporters.
"Hey, you're Clyde McBride." One of the officers stopped Clyde. "I understand you were friends with Lincoln Loud."
"Best friends," Clyde replied. "What's going on here?"
"What's it look like?" The officer said. "We're investigating the disappearance of The Loud children."
"I'm not a suspect, am I?" Clyde said.
"BAHAHAHAHA!" The officer blurted out laughing. "You? A suspect? Kid I'd sooner believe aliens abducted these children, before I believe that such a mild-mannered kid like you had anything to do with it."
"Hey, I can be dangerous." Clyde said.
"Mosquitoes do more damage than you." The officer said.
"Well actually, mosquitoes are responsible for more fatalities than any other animal do to the fact that they carry diseases such as..." Clyde said.
"Do you know anything about the disappearances?" The officer cut him off. "Did Lincoln tell you anything about going somewhere or plans to run away?"
"Well, believe it or not. Lincoln and his sisters actually were abducted by aliens." Clyde said. "Me and some of their friends are trying to find out how to get them back."
"You know that's the third kid today to claim the Louds had been abducted by aliens." The cop said to his partner.
"Logic would say the parents did it." The other cop said. "But there might be something to this alien angle. As crazy as it sounds."
Mr. and Mrs. Loud stood at the front porch being interviewed by Kathrin Mulligan, the reporter for the local news station.
"So, tell me," Kathrin said. "How does it feel knowing you may never see your children again?"
Lynn Sr. broke down crying at this.
"We're not giving up hope." Rita said, comforting her husband. "Our babies are out there somewhere."
Just then a long black limo pulled up. A man stepped out of the limo. He had short dark hair and a goatee. He was wearing a black suit with a light blue tie.
The man walked up to the house. He pushed Kathrine aside to talk to Rita and Lynn directly.
"Uh, who the heck are you?" Lynn Sr. asked.
The man handed them a business card. "Tom Pickles, multiple academy award winning director. And I would like to talk to you about a movie deal."
"A movie deal?" Rita said in an unimpressed voice.
"This whole... thing you got going here. This story, it has everything." Tom said. "drama, conspiracy, even rumors of alien abduction. This is a story that needs to be told on the big screen!"
"Well I don't know." Rita said.
"Can I come in?" Tom asked. "I'm coming in." Tom then entered the house.
"He can't just barge into our house like that." Lynn Sr. said to Rita. The parents went into the house to talk to their new guest.
"The vibes in this house," Tom said. "They give me the chills. I love it!"
"Listen um... Mr. Pickles." Rita said. "What's happened to us. It's a really devastating situation, we find it hard to even talk about. I don't think making a movie about this is very appropriate."
"Well how about this then." Tom said. "If you let me make a movie about your missing kids, I will fund the efforts to search for them. I'm sure with more resources we can find your kids and bring them home safe that much faster."
"I um. I'm going to speak to my husband in private." Rita said.
Rita and Lynn Sr. went into the kitchen.
"Maybe we should let him make that movie." Rita said. "If he's going to help us find our kids."
"Yeah, but have you even seen a Tom Pickles movie?" Lynn Sr. said. "He's not exactly subtle. And he's never made a film based on a true story. Well actually I should say he's never made an accurate film based on a true story. The guy tends to glorify violence and tragedy. And I don't know that I want him to be showing our kids being shot down or ripped apart by some cultists, or neo Nazis, or whatever the heck his twisted mind can come up with."
"Well I think we should at least think about it." Rita said. "I'll do anything to get our kids back."
The couple returned to the living room to see Tom staring at an old pocket watch.
"Believe it or not I know what you guys are going through." Tom said.
"You've lost your kids before?" Rita said.
"No, I don't have kids." Tom said. "However, I have been lost myself. Years before I became a multi-millionaire. When I was just a toddler. Me and a group of friends got lost in the woods. I don't remember a whole lot about it, but I remember how I felt. I also remember that a pocket watch makes for a terrible compos."
"Well if he's been in this situation before," Lynn Sr. said. "Maybe he'll treat this with some respect for his movie."
"Fine you can make your movie Mr. Pickles. But on one condition." Rita said. "You have to let us see the script before you put it on the screen. I do not want you making this movie unless we ok the script."
"You got a deal." Tom said, shaking Rita's hand.
Then someone knocked at the door.
Rita opened the door to find Bobby.
"Sorry, Bobby, but Lori is still missing." Rita said.
"I know," Bobby whimpered. "I just miss her so much. I thought I might feel better if I came to her house for a bit. Hey is that academy award winning director Tom Pickles?"
"Multiple academy award winner," Tom corrected. "So, you're Lori's boyfriend. I can see it now, the love of your life, vanished without a trace. The heartache the desperation. The determination to see your one true love no matter the cost. The audiences will love it!"
"Uh what's he talking about?" Bobby asked.
"Mr. Pickles here is making a movie," Rita explained. "About Lori and the others. And what's happened to them."
"Oh that's um..." Bobby said.
"Bobby my boy," Tom said. "You are about to become a household name. We just need someone amazing to play you. I'm thinking Carlos PenaVega."
"Who?" Bobby said.
"He was from that old Nick show Big Time Rush." Tom explained. "Trust me you'll love him!"
...
Back on Shipzilla...
Lori and Leni had pushed their beds together so Lincoln could sleep in the bed with both of them. (And not like that. They're siblings you sick mother fuckers!)
Lincoln had awoken the next morning having fallen asleep in his sister's arms.
"Morning guys." Lincoln said with a smile fallowed by a yawn.
"Oh, hey Lincoln." Lori said in a groggy voice as she sat up.
Lincoln got up and opened the bedroom window, letting in the eerie blue light of hyperspace.
"What the!" Lori said in shock but calmed back down in an instant. "Dang, I don't think I'll ever get used to this whole outer space thing. Can't wait to get back home. With clear blue skies, our loving parents, and my Boo boo bear. Not to mention we won't have to deal with man-eating trees, talking space raptors, or a psychotic space god."
"Well it's not all bad." Leni said. "Michael seemed really nice. And those rock guys Zack and Guy. They seem a little off, but they have a good heart I can tell."
"It's Zax and Gaya." Lincoln corrected her.
"I thought Guy was a weird name for a woman." Leni said. "And you guys gotta admit. Red is pretty cute."
"For a guy who nearly got us all burned alive in a fire that destroyed an entire forest." Lori added.
"I don't know. Despite everything, I just don't think Red is all bad." Leni said, getting out of bed. "It's something in his eyes, you know."
"No." Both Lori and Lincoln said at once.
...
"Ugh, man I was having some terrible nightmares last night." Lynn groaned as the siblings piled into the main deck of Shipzilla. "Then I woke up and the nightmare was still going on."
"We are about to come out of hyperspace at our first stop." Pal said.
The ship dropped out of hyperspace at a space station that was orbiting a planet that looked kind of like Saturn, only the planet was a strange blue-green color.
After docking Lincoln, Lori and one of Pal's drones entered the station.
The inside of the space station looked almost like some sort of alien convenience store. The walls were lined with what looked to be some sort of alien snacks and trinkets.
A strange creature stood at the counter. It seemed to be just a tall neck and a head. Its wild eyes darting every which way, its flesh seemed to be made out of some gelatinous yellow/orange substance.
"What is that thing?" Lori whispered.
"I think it's a cashier." Lincoln replied. "Hey excuse me." Lincoln walked up to the creature.
"Blah! What do you want!?!?" The creature screeched. Its eyes wiggling around as its head swayed back and forth.
"Hi um..." Lincoln said, nervously walking up to the counter. "We're looking for um..."
"A trans dimensional hyper cube." Pal said, through his drone.
"Yeah, that." Lincoln said.
"YYYYEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!" The creature screeched.
"Oh, sorry I..." Lincoln panicked.
"Blah!" The creature hacked up a small metal cube, about the size of a Rubik's cube. "That'll be 20 credits."
"Gross." Lori said. "Is that the cube thingy?"
"Yes, it is." The Pal drone said. Then the drone flew over the counter and dropped a pile of what looked like blue money.
"and I'm guessing those are credits." Lincoln said.
A yellow slimy tentacle extended from the creature's thin body. It grabbed the credits and placed them in the register. "Thank you, come again. NOW GET OUT!!!!!!!!! RRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"
Lincoln grabbed the cube off the counter with a gaging look on his face.
The trio headed back to Shipzilla.
"Now we are sure that is the hyper cube, right?" Lori asked. "And not that thing's version of a hairball."
"It sure is." Pal said in a gleeful voice.
"Is 20 credits a lot?" Lincoln asked.
"Kind of," Pal said. "But that thing can store anything. Even that giant space laser we want."
"We should literally wash that thing off before we use it." Lori said. "And I really do mean literally."
...
Moments after the Louds left, a dark figure entered the store and walked up to the register.
The cashier creature's eyes instantly focused on the figure with sheer terror.
"Allow mate." The figure said in a deep voice.
...
After a few more hours in hyper space. Shipzilla once again dropped out of hyperspace having reached the coordinates Zax had given to them.
It was a desolate moon orbiting a planet made of molten lava. The swirling orange, red, and yellow light of the lava planet bathed the ships cabin in a hellish orange glow as the Louds looked out in awe.
As the ship flew closer to the moon, they could make out a large glass building inside a purple force field.
"The casino is covered in a protective force field, so you won't need any sort of space suits" Pal informed the family. "In fact, Zax has supplied us with something a little more glamorous to blend in."
As Shipzilla began docking, Lincoln went over his plan with his sisters.
Once the ship landed within the safety of the force field the sisters emerged in their new outfits.
Lori had on a gorgeous blue gown, that sparkled like an iceberg reflecting the stars on a clear night.
Leni was next. She had a green dress that flowed like long grass in the summer breeze. She wore her sunglasses over her eyes and had on a fancy white hat and white gloves.
Then Luna walked out of the ship, sporting a purple dress that came down to her knees.
Luan had a yellow dress and had her hair in a more elegant style.
Lynn then arrived on seen looking far, fancier than she ever had in her life. She had on a long sparkling red dress and red gloves. She wore her hair down with a red head band.
"I'm not usually a dress kind of gal," Lynn remarked twirling around. "But I do feel pretty."
Lucy was next. She had on a black dress that would be more at home in a funeral than a casino.
Then it was the twins.
Lola, who usually liked to dress like a princess anyway had on an even prettier pink dress than her normal one, complete with a jewel encrusted tiara.
Even Lana was dressed up in a blue-green dress. Though she did not seem to enjoy her knew stylish clothes as much as the others.
Last was the mastermind of the operation, Lincoln.
He had on a black suit with an orange tie and black dress shoes. He was also sporting a pair of black sunglasses.
Lisa and Lily stayed onboard the ship with Pal.
The Louds gazed at the casino. It looked much more massive from the ground. A huge building covered in glass windows. Outside the building was an enormous pond with water sprinklers shooting into the sky.
A red carpet led to the front door of the casino. The whole scene looked as if they had arrived in loss Vegas. That is aside from the giant ball of swirling lava that painted the sky a fiery orang color.
"Woah!" The siblings all gasped in amazement.
"This is literally a HUIGE step up from the jungle planet." Lori remarked.
"And the desert planet." Luan added.
"I preferred the jungle." Lana grumbled.
"Maybe next we can find a planet that's just one big basketball court." Lynn said, half joking.
"Guys! You made it!" Zax joined the group. "Now I would like you all to meet our gracious host. Vinny the Bug." Zax pointed to a man who was for some reason standing behind a potted plant that obscured the lower half of his body.
"Well howdy." The man said. Surprisingly the man looked completely human. He had a square jaw bald head and blue eyes. And his voice sounded somewhat like that of someone from Texas. He had on a white suit, and a white cowboy hat. "They call me, Vinny the Bug."
"So why do they call him that?" Luna asked.
Then Vinny stepped out from behind the plant and the siblings gasped in shock.
From the waist up, Vinny looked like a normal human. But below his waist was the thick hairy thorax and eight spindly legs of a giant spider.
"Pleasure to meet you folks." Vinny said making his way to the group.
"S-s-SPIDER!" Leni said.
"Is there a problem?" Vinny asked.
"Forgive her." Lori said. "She's just afraid of spiders."
"Oh, don't worry little darlin, I don't bite." Vinny said. "I hire others to do my biting for me." Vinny winked.
The group was escorted into the casino. It was a rather classy looking establishment with classical music playing as aliens gambled away their money.
"I have arranged for Lucy to enter the poker tournament." Zax said. "Vinny will escort you to the poker room."
"I'm going with." Lori said. "Lucy's only 8 and I don't feel comfortable with her being alone in that room with all those space criminals."
"I perfectly understand." Vinny said. "Right this way ladies."
"Make sure no one leaves that room." Lincoln whispered to Lucy.
...
Lucy and Lori were escorted into a room full of strange and dangerous looking alien creatures. They were all sitting around a round table, each holding a couple playing cards in whatever their equivalents of hands were.
"Don't let these guys intimidate you." Vinny said. "They may look vicious, but we're all just here to have a good time."
Vinny took his seat at the table as did the Loud sisters.
"Gentlemen, we have a special treat tonight." Vinny said. "These two lovely ladies are named Lori and Lucy. They are members of a race called humans, who just so happen to come from the very same planet this fine card game originates. So be on the lookout for these two, they're probably experts."
"Well golf is more my game." Lori said.
"I'm pretty good at poker though." Lucy said.
"Sorry I'm late fellas." Came a dark voice.
Lucy and Lori gasped at the alien who had just taken the seat next to Lucy.
"Crow?" Lucy said.
"So, you remember me I take it." Crow said with a smug grin.
"You know Crow?" Vinny said.
"We've met" Lori said.
"So, we gonna chat, or we gonna play?" Crow said, taping his metallic claws on the table. "Deal me in mate."
...
A large muscular alien with red skin and four arms stood guard at a door marked "Employees only."
Luna waked into the crowd and pulled out her guitar.
"You the music here sucks!" Luna yelled. "Let's kick things up a notch!" Then she jumped onto a roulette table and started playing her guitar as loud as she could. The four-armed guard walked away from the door and headed toward Luna.
"Rock and roll will never die dudes!" Luna yelled before making a run for it.
Meanwhile Lincoln, Lynn, and the twins snuck into the employees only door.
Once inside the four siblings changed outfits. They each now wore a black long sleeve shirt, and black pants.
"Glad to be out of that girly dress." Lana said.
"Speak for yourself." Lola added.
They headed down a flight of stairs that lead into a hallway in the basement of the casino.
"Lisa, Pal, did you get into the security system?" Lincoln said into the communication device in his ear.
Lisa and the ship's computer Pal had hacked into the security system of the casino. Lisa had then programmed the security cameras to play the last 15 seconds on a loop. An idea Lincoln had gotten from a Keanu Reeves movie.
"Roger that big brother." Lisa said. "You should now be completely invisible to the security cameras."
"Ok, Lola, you're up." Lincoln said.
Then Lola sprayed a gust of perfume into the hallway revealing a series of red lasers.
"Lynn, do your thing." Lincoln said.
Lynn effortlessly hopped and twirled through the lasers and landed at the far end of the hall in front of the door to the weapons vault.
"Ok, that red button by the door should turn off the lasers." Lincoln said.
Lynn pressed the button and the lasers shut off. The group walked to the weapons vault door.
"Lana, if you could. Go make sure no one else comes down here." Lincoln said. "You know what to do."
"Yes sir." Lana said, quickly changing into a plumber outfit.
Lana headed back out the door they came in. She placed a yellow sign in front of the "employees only" door that said "Caution."
Some sort of alien walked by.
"You don't wanna go in there." Lana warned the passing alien. "A toilet backed up and there is some major flooding."
...
Back in the poker room...
"Hey Vinny, I ever tell you what a nice place this is?" Crow mentioned.
"So, do you guys know each other?" Lori asked.
"Sure, Crow here has been coming to this Casino for years." Vinny said. "He's one of the few people I can call a real friend."
"Um... may I use the rest room." Lori asked.
"I need to go to." Lucy added. "It's sort of a uh... sister thing."
"Yeah totally." Lori said. "It's like a twin ESP thing."
"But you ain't twins." Crow pointed out.
"By all means" Vinny said. "Bathroom's over there."
Lori and Lucy rushed to the bathroom.
"Holy crap. What are we gonna do?" Lori said. "We are literally playing cards with an alien raptor cyborg who wants to kill us!"
"We need to lay low." Lucy said. "So long as we keep Vinny and Crow distracted. He's not going to try to kill us in front of his friends, right?"
"We should warn Lincoln." Lori said. She pressed a button on the communicator in her ear.
"Lincoln come in."
"Lori? What is it? Are you guys aright?" Lincoln asked.
"That psycho Crow guy is here." Lori said.
"Oh crap!" Lincoln said. "Just stay calm, we're almost done here. Then we can get you guys out."
The two sisters sat back down at the table.
"So, I take it you girls have meet the Red King." Crow blurted out.
"What?" Lori said.
"Yes, we have." Lucy said.
"What do you think of him?" Crow asked.
"Well he um..." Lori and Lucy both stammered, unsure of what to say.
"Don't worry, you can be honest with me." Crow said. "I'm not a fan of him either. I'm a mercenary, I work for whoever pays me."
"you mean you kill for whoever pays you." Lucy pointed out.
"Lucy!" Lori whispered.
"Mostly yeah." Crow said. "I'm a bounty hunter. I hunt down those who have a price on their heads. Sometimes they are wanted alive. Other times... not so much."
"Do you even care about the morality of what you do?" Lucy asked. "Working for anyone who has the money you want. How many dirty low lives have you worked for? Crime bosses, dictators, do you even have a line to cross?"
"You should be the won to talk, mate." Crow said. "Working with that Zax fellow."
"Hey, the Red King is the bad guy here." Lori said. "Zax is trying to stop him."
"From doing what?" Crow asked.
"Uh... taking over the universe." Lori said.
Crow chuckled. "How cute. You think you're in some sci fi space opera. Like what's that movie you humans like? Space wars? Star Battles? But you blokes don't even know what game you're playing."
"We do know the Red King burned down an entire forest." Lucy said.
"You know he fixed it as soon as you left right?" Crow said. "It's as good as knew now."
"He fixed a burned forest?" Lori said. "You can't just fix that much forest that was burned to ashes. The damage he caused is irreversible."
"Maybe to a human," Crow said. "But we raptors have technology you monkeys can't even imagine. I'll raise."
"Huh?" Lori said.
"The game," Crow raised an eyebrow. "You haven't even looked at your cards mate."
"Oh!" Lori said. She looked at her hand. She had a 3 and a 2. "I fold."
...
Lincoln handed a welding helmet to his sister and put one on himself.
"Time to put this primal energy stuff to good use." Lincoln said. He pointed his finger at the door handle and a beam of blue energy shot out of his finger, cutting through the steal door.
...
"Got some mighty big balls for a little girl, eh Lucy." Crow threw a couple more chips into the pot. Crow and Lucy seemed to be dominating the table, each with a mountain of poker chips beside them.
Vinny the bug, on the other hand. Was losing.
All but the four of them; Lucy, Lori, Vinny, and Crow, had left.
"Man," Vinny said. "If I lose just a few more hands I'm gonna call it quits. I have a few things that need my attention."
Lucy saw she had a pair of aces, and a pair of kings. She could easily win with this hand. But if Vinny lost, then he would leave the room, and Lincoln could get busted.
"I fold." Lucy threw he cards on the table.
"Me too." Lori said.
Lori leaned in to whisper to Lucy.
"Good call Luc'" Lori said. "Now we just gotta worry about Crow, If he beats Vinny then."
"I fold." Crow said.
Lori and Lucy looked at each other, puzzled. Crow had been betting like crazy the entire round. It was clear to anyone he had a good hand. But he decides to fold now? Didn't make sense.
"Well looks like my luck has changed." Vinny said with glee as he gathered the mound of poker chips from the middle of the table.
"This is a very beautiful location to have a casino, Vinny." Crow said, as he dealt cards to everyone. "I love the affect that that lava planet has on the lighting in here." Crow looked up at the Lava planet through the massive glass windows of the casino. "How hot is that ball of magma anyway?"
"Oh, it's hot." Vinny said. "Even rivals some of the stars out there."
"This moon is rather close, in' it?" Crow asked. "Surprised we ain't rostin' our bloody behinds just being this close."
"Well you can thank my state-of-the-art force field for that." Vinny said.
Crow looked at his cards and threw a couple chips into the pot. How well you think this force field can hold up?"
"Well it's got a v28 series force field generator." Vinny said. "Best on the market. So, I'd say this force field will last to the end of time."
"Or until something happens to the generator." Crow mentioned.
"Why are you suddenly interested in the force field?" Lucy asked, calling the bet.
"Well I just happen to be an enthusiast of force field technology." Crow said. "You know I have the same type of force field on me own ship."
"Well don't worry y'all." Vinny said. "Nothing can happen to that generator. It's locked up tight in the generator room. You'll need to know the combination to get in. And the only place that information exists is in my head."
"Well that and one other place." Crow said. "I'm calling by the way."
"Oh, that ol' raptor legend." Vinny said.
"What legend?" Lucy asked.
"There is this... thing," Crow said. "This thing that has any answer you could ever want. It's something most Bsepoticans know about, but it's kind of a secret. The only non-raptors that know about it, and it's location are the Red King and this dumbass earthling writer who died in what you call the 20s. Don't ask how he found out, but it's a good thing most of his writing is a load of garbage so when he wrote about Yog Sathoth no one suspected it was real."
"Gasp, you're referring to the works of H.P. Lovecraft" Lucy said.
"Yeah, he had a stupid name too." Crow said. "But he's dead, so only raptors and the Red King know about it."
"Well, you literally just told us about it." Lori pointed out.
"Not really," Crow said. "I told you the name Yog Sathoth. But where it is, and what it is are still a secret. Also, I'm gonna raise."
Lucy looked at her hand. "I'll call your, bet. And as a side note, I find Lovecraft's work to be very well written."
"Call." Lori repeated.
"Now things are getting interesting." Vinny said. "I reckon I'll raise."
"I say you're bluffing old man." Crow said. "I raise. And not to change the subject, but what do you suppose would happen if that generator were to stop working?"
"Well then the shield would go down." Vinny said. "The heat from the lava planet would turn this entire casino into an oven, then the glass would shatter. Whoever isn't killed by falling debris will either ignite from the heat or suffocate from the lack of oxygen."
"Well why on Earth would someone want to do that?" Lori said, throwing more chips into the pot.
"Most of us don't live on Earth." Crow remarked.
"I'm all in." Lucy smirked.
Each of them showed their cards.
"Read 'em and weep." Lucy smiled revealing a full house.
Crow dealt the next round of cards as Lucy greedily grabbed the pile of poker chips she had just won.
"You know, even if you did get the combo. There is no way anyone can get past my guards." Vinny said.
"Unless you had a cloaking device." Crow said. "Like the one I got."
"Well you've been one of my best friends for years, Crow." Vinny said. "I doubt you'd do something like that."
"Not even to catch the family that happens to be at the top of the Red King's most wanted list?" Crow said. "Each member of which being worth more than I could ever make in one of these stupid games. Vinny, mate, you know me. Our friendship is way stronger than a few billion credits."
Then Lucy noticed a red blinking light on Crow's robotic arm.
"What is that?" Lucy asked.
"Oh, this little thing right here?" Crow asked, pointing to the button. "Well that's none of your business luv."
"Gasp!" Lucy said. "It's a detonator! He's planted a charge on the shied generator. He's gonna kill us all!"
"I would never!" Crow said.
"Those are some wild accusations little lady." Vinny said. "Crow has been coming to this casino and playing cards with me for almost half a century. And never once has he caused any trouble."
"Well he did just literally tell us how he would get past your guards, and into the generator room." Lori pointed out.
"I was joking!" Crow explained.
"What does that button do Crow?" Vinny asked.
"Nothing important." Crow said.
"Well then press it." Vinny said.
"No, don't!" Lucy said, inching closer to Lori. Even without her eyes showing, Lucy showed clear signs of fear.
"Alright I'll press it." Crow said.
...
The door to the weapons vault opened, and Lincoln and the others stepped in.
"Woah." They all said at once. The room was full of futuristic tanks and cannons.
"So, which one is the one Zax wanted?" Lynn asked.
"He sent us a photo." Lincoln pulled out a picture of the large laser cannon they needed. "That one." He pointed to the cannon at the far end of the room. Then he pulled the hyper cube from his pocket.
"You really think that huge cannon is gonna fit into that tiny cube?" Lola asked.
"Well it is alien technology." Lincoln said. "I guess anything is possible." He walked over to the cannon. He pressed a button on the cube and the giant laser was somehow atomized and sucked into the cube.
"Huh," Lincoln said, softly shaking the cube. "It didn't even add any weight."
"I'm not even gonna try to know what just happened there." Lola said.
...
Crow pressed the blinking red button on his arm.
A couple of speakers extended from his back and started to play that cantina song from a few chapters ago.
"Phew." Lori and Lucy breathed a sigh of relief.
"See, what did I tell ya," Vinny said. "Crow here is an upstanding citizen, probably one of the best guys you'll meet out here. You girls should really learn to be more trusting."
"Yeah, besides," Crow chuckled. "the detonator is on me right arm, not me left." Then he pressed a button on his right arm and the entire building started to shake.
Vinny's mouth dropped. Above them, the shield that was protecting the place dissolved into nothing.
Crow's face darted between each of the other people in the room. All of whom starred at him with looks of shock and horror.
"Well Vinny, I think now would be a good time to tell ya. I've been cheating all these years." Crow said. "Also, I never liked ya mate." He activated his cloaking device and vanished.
"I can't believe it." Vinny said, dumbfounded.
"AND YOUR MUM IS FAT!" Crows voice echoed in the halls.
"We gotta get out of here!" Lori grabbed Lucy and ran for the door. The casino was now filled with the sounds of horrified screams.
Lori and Lucy ran out into the main lobby and met up with Lincoln and the others.
"Where's Luna?" Lori asked.
"Last I saw she was running from that big four-armed guy." Lincoln said.
...
The four-armed alien guard had cornered Luna buy the front door.
"Nowhere to run now you little troublemaker." The guard said.
Then the building shook for a few seconds. Luna and the guard looked to see the force field dissolving.
"Uh... that's bad right?" Luna said.
"GAH!!!!!" The guard suddenly screamed in pain.
"Whoa, what's the deal man?" Luna asked.
Then Crow deactivated his cloak and became visible. He was clinging onto the guard's back with his claws. He had a sadistic smile on his face, and he had dug the spike at the end of his tail deep into the guards flesh, pumping his venom into the alien's body.
The guard fell to the ground riving in pain.
"Hello little songbird." Crow said as the guard stopped moving.
"There she is!" Lincoln called out from across the room. Then a large piece of debris fell between Luna and the rest of the siblings. Trapping her with Crow.
Lincoln used his powers to move the debris. But as soon as he moved the debris, Luna and Crow were gone.
"This place is going to collapse!" Vinny said, joining the group. "We gotta get everyone out of here!"
The ceiling was now starting to crack and crumble. Crowds of aliens rushed to the exits screaming. A large piece of cement landed just behind Vinny, smashing through the floor into the levels below. Vinny fell backward into the hole.
Just before the half man half spider alien fell to his death, Leni grabbed onto one of his creepy spider legs and saved him.
"Good job Len'" Lincoln said.
"Wow, thanks little lady." Vinny said. "And here I thought I creeped you out."
"Just because I'm afraid of spiders, doesn't mean I'm gonna let you fall to your death." Leni said, pulling Vinny to solid ground.
"There's the varmint!" Vinny pointed at Crow who was running away from the casino. Vinny ran after him. "Get back here you bird brained psychopath!"
Vinny smashed through the doors with his powerful thorax and closed his distance on Crow.
Crow stopped and turned to look at his pursuer.
Crow was holding Luna by the arm. He had the young rocker cuffed with high tech handcuffs and had placed a metal clamp around her mouth.
Crow shoved Luna to the ground. "Time to let the grownups talk, kid."
"After all these years, how could you do this to me!" Vinny yelled.
"Can we make this quick?" Crow smirked. "It's getting hot out here, and I didn't bring me sunblock."
Vinny swung his fist at Crow. Crow ducked under Vinny's fist with ease. A blade extended from Crow's arm which he used to slash at Vinny, cutting a huge gash in his back that oozed purple blood.
"Gah! Dang it!" Vinny yelled. "Crow, you varmint! You've crossed a line here! Now I'm about to become a bird eating spider!"
"Yeah, I don't think so mate." Crow said, then Crow stung Vinny in the chest with his tail.
"GAH! CHEESE AND CRACKERS!" Vinny screamed, holding the sting wound. "Ah! It's like I'm being stabbed with a hot needle that's been wrapped in barbed wire and doused lemon juice!"
Vinny fell on his back. His legs curled inward as he died.
Crow picked Luna back up and headed to his ship.
"After them!" Lincoln yelled. He and the remaining sisters ran after Crow.
Crow got to his ship. A black boomerang shaped vessel that was sleek and aerodynamic with pointed ends.
"Huh, it really does look like a stealth bomber." Lincoln pointed out. "But let our sister go Crow!"
"As if I'm gonna take orders from some white-haired little runt." Crow said as a ramp lowered from his ship. Then a shockwave was emitted from the ship that knocked all the other Louds to the ground while Crow took Luna aboard. "I'll come back for the rest of ya blokes later!"
Lincoln got back on his feet as Crows ship began to lift into the air. Lincoln telepathically grabbed onto Crows ship, only for the ship to let off some sort of EMP that caused it to slip from Lincoln's grip.
"What the heck?" Lincoln said as Crow's ship took off into hyperspace.
"Guys! Over here." Zax called out. He was standing near Shipzilla.
Zax and the loud siblings piled into Shipzilla and took off.
As Shipzilla left the planet the casino crumbled behind them.
"Michael was right about that Crow guy." Lucy said. "he is ruthless."
"Did you get the Laser?" Zax asked.
"Believe it or not, it's in this cube." Lincoln handed him the hyper cube.
"A hyper cube," Zax said. "Convenient little things."
"Not even sure how that thing worked," Lincoln said. "It just sucked the whole thing up like nothing."
"It's uh... to advanced for your minds to process." Zax said.
"Well who cares how that alien tech works?" Lori said. "That maniac took Luna!"
"I tried to stop him!" Lincoln said. "I have the Red Kings powers. I thought that meant I could do anything. But somehow, he still got away."
Zax placed his hand on Lincoln's shoulder. "Kid, even a being as powerful as the Red King has his limits."
"What's important now is that we gotta go find Luna." Luan said.
"He's probably taking her to the Red King." Lincoln said. "We should head to the Singularity immediately."
"That's not a good idea." Zax warned.
"Crow is taking my sister to The Red King." Lincoln said. "The Red King lives in that big Singularity ship."
"Well even if we could find the Singularity." Zax said.
"What do you mean, if we can find it?" Lincoln shot back. "It's in the middle of the galaxy. We've been there!"
"The Singularity moves around," Zax explained. "With the Bsepotican technology, Red will be able to sense us the moment we got close. It was a miracle we even found you in the first place.
And even if we did manage to get on the ship. There are armies of raptors guarding that thing. It would be suicide to mount a rescue. I'm sorry but your sister is as good as dead."
"We don't know that he's going to kill her." Leni said. "He didn't kill us when he first met us. He was actually kind of friendly."
"Leni, no offense but, you're an idiot." Zax said. "I know that sounds mean but, it's clear you've fallen for his rugged charm. If you can call what that thuggish caveman has "charm". And you're letting your feelings cloud your judgement. There is no way that The Red King hasn't already killed your sister, in the most painful way imaginable. The only thing we can do now is avenge her death."
"No!" Lori said. "I refuse to believe Luna's dead! Maybe we can cut Crow off before he gets to the Singularity."
"Look, when we get to my ship, we can pinpoint the location of Crow's ship." Zax said. "Then we can bring that bastard to justice before mounting a strike against the Red King."
"How far are we from Earth?" Lincoln asked.
"Not far actually." Zax said. "It should only take about a day to get there. Why?"
"Well I was thinking," Lincoln said. "you can get to your ship and pinpoint exactly where the Singularity is. And while you do that, my sisters and I can got to Earth and get that peanut butter for you. Then You can send us the location of the Singularity and we can meet you there. With both of us working at the same time we may be able to get there before Crow hands Luna off to the Red King and save her.
Plus, we can also warn the people of Earth in case The Red King's forces get past us."
"You really are the man with a plan." Zax said. "Ok you got a deal."
Zax got into one of the shuttles on Shipzilla and departed to the Gem, after giving the Louds the coordinates to Earth.
...
"We're finally going home." Lori said a few moments after Zax had left. "I wish I was more excited."
"Luna's going to be alright." Lincoln said. "I promise."
"Incoming transmission." Pal said.
"Well, let's answer it." Lori replied.
An image of the raptor Michael showed up on the windshield.
"Wow," Lori said. "it's just like Star Trek."
"I told you we'd meet again." Michael said. "Say, you guys seem to be one short."
"Crow... he took Luna." Luan said her voice was cracking as she said it, and her jaw quivered. "She's gone."
"Well it's a good thing I called when I did." Michael said. "I think I know a way we can save your sister."
"You do?" All the siblings perked up at once.
"I know a place where we can access all the information in the universe!" Michael said. "It's called Yog Sathoth. It can tell us exactly where your sister is."
"But we still wouldn't be able to get past the Red King's security." Lincoln said. "You and us are on Red's most wanted list."
"Yeah, but my daughter works close with The Red King." Michael said. "She's already convinced him I'm not a traitor, and she can get you in without being noticed. Besides, that's not all I need to show you."
"Well Zax and Lincoln kind of came up with another plan." Lori said.
"Is Zax in the ship with you?" Michael asked.
"No, he went back to the Gem to pinpoint Crow's location." Lincoln said.
"There is no way he'll be able to do that." Michael said. "Crow's ship is one of the most advanced ships in the galaxy. It's to fast and stealthy to track."
"Yeah, we've seen it." Lincoln said. "And it really does look like a stealth bomber."
"But bigger." Luan added.
"And more alien." Lynn said.
"Plus, Zax hasn't been quite truthful with you guys." Michael said. "We really need to meet in person. I'll send you the coordinates to Yog Sathoth. Meet me there."
Then Michael's image vanished.
"So, what do we do?" Lori asked. "Do we go back to Earth for Zax's plan? Or do we go to this Yog Sathoth place for Michael's plan?"
"It would take about the same amount of time to reach either place." Pal pointed out. "However, they are in opposite directions."
"Yeah and who do we trust?" Lincoln said. "Michael said Zax isn't being that truthful. Then again how do we know Michael can be trusted? How well do we even know either of those guys?"
"Really we don't know either of them at all." Lori said. "Zax and Michael are both super advanced alien life forms whose motives we can't possibly understand. If we make the wrong choice here, we could get Luna killed, we could get us killed, we could get the whole world killed.
However, not making a decision, is a big decision."
...
Back on Earth...
Clyde came home to a shocking surprise.
A strange man was sitting in the McBride living room reading a newspaper. The headline of which said "Actor Steve Buscemi found butt naked in a corn field: Claims to have been abducted by aliens."
"Uh Dads!" Clyde said. "There's a strange man in our house!"
Clyde's dads walked into the room.
"Clyde," His dad Harold said. "This is special agent Jay. He's in the FBI and has some questions for you."
"Hello Clyde." Jay said, lowering the newspaper. "I understand you're friends with Lincoln Loud."
"Um... yes." Clyde said nervously. "What... What did you wanna know?"
"Well for one, why you guys have a newspaper subscription in 2020," Jay said as he crumpled the newspaper and threw it over his shoulders. "But in all seriousness, I actually came here to tell you something.
See that Loud family you guys are so close too. They're not who you think they are."
