A judge can only go so far
As I stood, I heard the murmurings of the people because I looked so healthy. 'Umm..." I stuttered, not knowing what to do. "Well, I am Samantha, and I was taking corn because me and my family need grain. This year, we couldn't grow any because we were busy with hunting. My parents were teaching me to shoot a bow. So we picked corn for a little, until that girl caught us." In all of this, my tone grew even, my eyes stopped darting, and I sounded proud. Jabbing my finger at the judge, I pointed out his one major mistake in trying to prove me guilty, "Would you have done the same, if your family was starving and you didn't have a village? Answer me this judge, would you choose to save your family and live, or stay with the law and let your family die? If you decide what I did, than I suppose either both of us are guilty, or I am innocent."
Sophia is sobbing, but gives me one last token of farewell, a stone so carefully designed, On my way! Of great beauty and splendor. I will never forget this girl...
Three hours later, I am standing at the forest ridge, ready to go home. Smiling, I laugh with the freedom of the wind. A flash of bright light astounds the crowd of people watching me go. Seconds later, I am howling, true to what my spirit form is. For I am not fully human, I am a magical being, the last of my kind. One last howl, and I leave, forever knowing that they will remember me.
