Chapter 6 Adrien's Place
Adrien's POV:
Three days later, Adrien is out of the hotel and inside an apartment instead. He is glad to see that it is not fully furnished yet. This way it will be more like his place. He can not wait to get stuff ready for him to live here. He already unpacked the things he brought with him from the hotel.
Adrien has not seen Marinette since she got better a few days ago. He knows he hugged her the day she left and recalls how sad he was to see her go. He also remembers she went back to the homeless side of town.
He wishes he could have done more for her. He is not sure what though. It is not like he can without a job. Sure, he is the son of a rich man. Yet, he is no longer welcome at home. He can not compromise his beliefs on marriage just to suit his father.
"Oh, Marinette, please be alright," Adrien says. He feels the guilt reach him again as he speaks to himself.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette wakes up with one black eye and a broken arm. She notices her father is nowhere to be found. She can not help but wonder what could have happened to her. She vaguely recalls the argument she and her father had recently over Adrien. It was because her father brought up his distrust in the guy. She does not care what he thinks she knows Adrien better than this.
She feels a sob reach her eyes. She grabs up a small sack, places the few things she owns into it, and decides to run away and never turn back. She can not. It is time to make something of herself.
She walks far enough to read a sign that points to the rich section. She smiles as she thinks Adrien here I come. She hopes he does not mind if she crashes as his place tonight.
"Kind sir, could you take me to see Adrien Agreste," She says.
Marinette recalls the last message he gave her. It was on a small note that told her where he was to move too after he left the hotel. She shows it to the random stranger.
"Ah, yes, I know that place well," He says.
"So ,could you take me there, please," She remarks.
The man nods his head in agreement even though he knows she can not afford to pay him. A few hours later, they arrive outside Adrien's home. "Well, this it, Miss," He states.
Marinette feels bad she can not pay him. She hands him a stick of gum, then, adds the small coin someone gave her out of pity a few days ago. She sees him tear up and smiles. She grabs her bag, climbs out of the car and rings the bell.
Adrien's POV:
Adrien hears the bell ring. He has no idea who it could be on the other side to the door. He opens the door and smiles when he sees her.
"Marinette, wow, do come inside," He says.
Marinette does as he says and struggles not to drop her duffel bag. She sets it down on the bottom of the stairs.
"Marinette, your eye and your arm," He remarks.
Adrien hands her some ice for the eye and insist he call a doctor to take a look at her arm. He sees her shake her head and says, "I will not take no for an answer, Marinette."
"Fine, but I am not sure I can be of much help as I do not recall how I hurt it," She tells him.
" I am sure the doctor can help," Adrien tells her.
Adrien says all this to assure himself more than her. Deep down he worries for her as she is the first real friend he has had in years.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette is glad when the doctor arrives as he is nice man.
The guy examines her eye and frowns. Then, he takes a look at her arm, and wraps it up In a tight cast. He adds a sling to it. "It might take a few weeks, maybe even months for it to heal," He says. Then, he is on his way home.
After the doctor leaves, Marinette remarks, "I would like to take a look around more."
"Sure that is fine," Adrien says. He shows her around the first floor, and the garden. Then, shows her the tennis court, the baseball field, the swimming pool, and the small attic area.
"Adrien, thank you," Marinette says.
"For what Mari?" Adrien asks.
"For letting me stay at your place, at least until I find a job and a place of my own," She says.
Adrien's POV:
"Do not mention it I was happy to help," Adrien says.
"I am glad,"Marinette responds.
Adrien blushes as the young lady hugs him. He feels rather silly at his reaction since it was not the first time she hugged him. Why should this time be any different?
He hugs her then, hands her some food. "Here, eat you must be starved," He says.
Marinette eats some of things he offers to her, then drinks some water. "Ah, that was great, and it was some of the best food I have ever tasted," She says.
"I am glad you think so," Adrien says.
"Oh, I do so compliments to the chef," She tells him.
"Good cause you are looking right at him," Adrien answers.
Adrien laughs when Marinette gives him a look to show how surprised she is at his announcement. He can not wait to see how she reacts to tomorrow's breakfast. Somehow, he has a feeling, she will love it too. He is glad she found him before he went to go ask for her.
This way Adrien knows she is alright and will be for a while now. To bad he can not say the same for her father. He can only imagine the man still hates him. Well, tough, he still intends to take care of Marintte anyway.
