Chapter 4 Adrien's Sister

           Adrien's  POV:

Adrien sighs now that it has been three days since he ran away from home. He knows he should return how.  The question is how can he get his father to understand him.  It is not his fault he does not want to marry for wealth. The whole thing disgusts him.

He gets a knock on the door to the hotel room. He thinks odd I thought Marinette said she was not feeling well. He frowns as he goes to the door and looks out the peephole. He sees his sibling and opens the door.

"Hey, sis, come inside," Adrien says.

"Nice to know you are okay," She says.

"Oh, sorry I did not contact you," Adrien remarks.

"Yes, well you did leave your phone back at the house," She says.

"House, it is a mansion, " He blurts out.

Adrien starts to argue with her because he can not believe she insists he speaks to their father right away.  "I will not go because Marinette is not feeling well," He explains.

     Rachel's POV:

"Adrien, father just worries that is all," Rachel remarks.

She can see that Adrien does not believe her.  She smiles just the same.

"I know you do not want to go back, but you need to," Rachel says.

She thinks come on brother do it for me.

Adrien shakes his head no, "I already told you I will not abandon Marinette when she is sick."

"Marinette, she better not be your girlfriend," Rachel blurts out.

"Father would be furious if you kept a girl a secret from him," She goes on to explain.

Rachel sees Adrien's scowl and laughs. She always did think her sibling to be a bit of a drama queen.

"Goodness, you should see your face now, haha," She states.

    Adrien's POV:

"It is none of anyone's business who Marinette is, but you should go home," Adrien scoffs.

"Why so I can tell father you are not coming back?" Rachel asks with a disapproving look.

"No, so he will not send a search party out for you," Adrien retorts.

Adrien hears a yawn across the hall and smiles. He knows this means Marinette must be up from her nap.  He walks out of his room and over to the other door. He knocks on it lightly.

"Hey, Marinette, could I come in now?" Adrien asks.

"Adrien, I am not so sure that is a good idea," Marinette replies as she sneezes.

"I have something for you," Adrien tells her.

Adrien smiles as Marinette comes to the door, and looks out.  He can tell she seems a bit nervous which is silly, right?  He hands her the box of crackers, some microwavable soup, some disposable bowels, and plasticware.

"Thanks, A-Achoo!  Achoo! A-Adrien," Marinette says. She covers her mouth with a kleenex.

"Oh, and take these too," He remarks as he hands her some more kleenexes, a bottle of nasal spray, a bag of cough drops, and a few other items.

"You should not have b-brought so much st-stuff, " Marinette says. Achoo!  Achoo! "Adrien, it is too much."

         Rachel's POV:

Rachel none too happy to be left in the dark watches as Adrien knocks. She smiles when the bluenette opens it. She thinks that is the girl my brother speaks about huh. She decides then not to say a word about her to their father.

She walks in that direction to tell him.

"Adrien, do not worry, I will keep her, a secret," Rachel says.

Marinette looks up as the other girl speaks and looks from her to Adrien and back again.  She has no idea who she could be but notices she has green eyes like Adrien's and hair that is blonde too. She notices the girl's hair comes to her shoulders.

"I am Rachel Agreste, Adrien's sister," She says.

"I can see by the look you give me that he did not mention me," She scoffs.

        Marinette's POV:

Marinette looks up as some other girl who looks similar to Adrien speaks. She does notice the young ladies' hair falls to her shoulders. She thinks who is this girl.  She is about to ask when the woman answers her thoughts.

"I am Rachel Agreste, Adrien's sister.  I can see by the look you give me he did not mention me," She scoffs.

"He did not but you are so much taller than him," Marinette responds.

She wonders why Adrien's sister is a few inches taller than he is and why she looks more mature than him.  She waits to see what happens next.

"Are you twins?" She asks when she gets no immediate answer.

     Adrien's POV:

Adrien scowls, then sees Marinette glance in his direction.

"Twins, goodness no she is my older sister," Adrien says.

"We look a lot alike, but I assure you we are not the same age," He explains.

"He is right, I am 19  and Adrien here is only 18," She remarks.

Adrien thinks sis, why did you go and tell her this. He knows Marinette is nice, but he only met her three days ago.  The last thing he needs is for his sister to ship them together.  Goodness, that would make things complicated for him.

        Marinette's  POV:

"Adrien, how could you did not tell me about your sister?"  Marinette asks.

She sees him put a hand over his face.  She thinks what is that all about now.

"I do not have any siblings, so I can not relate," Marinette reminds him.

Marinette hears Rachel blurt out, "Yes, and you probably do not have a boyfriend, either."

She shoves Rachel out the door and closes it behind her.  She locks it to make sure no one else barges into the room next.

Now, she turns to Adrien, "Is she always this way?"

      Adrien's  POV:

Adrien does not say a word when Marinette shoves Rachel out of the hotel room.  He remains silent as she closes the door and locks it.  He smiles as Marinette speaks.

"Yes, she always tries to set me up with a girl, and father is even worse," Adrien says.

"How so?" Marinette asks in between sneezes and coughs.

"He wants me to marry someone of his choosing.  The only thing is I rather pick out the one for me.  Besides, I do not care about riches.  At least not like he does, I  think it is best to marry when I ready too.  Also, for love, because that is how Mom met him," Adrien says with a sigh.

Adrien wonders if he makes any sense and feels silly for telling something this personal to a friend.  He sure hopes she thinks of him as a friend anyway.

Marinette blows her nose, then as she tosses it into the trashcan nods her head in agreement.  She thinks marriage for love makes sense even though she can not say she knows what is like.
