Chapter 24 The Hope

    Marinette's POV:

I hoped that Adrien would come back to me. He moved his arm and then opened his eyes.

"Marinette, Mom, Rachel, what are you doing here?  Where am I?" Adrien asked.

"Adrien, you came back to us," I said with relief. I hug him. He smiled. "Yes, but where am I?"

"You are in the hospital, you collapsed, you had a high fever, and no one knows why," I explained.

The doctors and nurses enter the room. They look at him amazed. I smile as they explain he does not have cancer, or the swine flu. That is a relief. I can tell they are puzzled. "We must run more tests to discover what made him pass out," One of the doctors told us.

Rachel and Emilie exit the room to give Adrien and me some alone time.  The other doctor explained, "We hope to find out soon what happened so he can go home in a few days."

"Oh, thank you, doctors," Marinette says. "From what we hear, you and his mother were the ones to save him by bringing him in," The nurse said before she exited the room.

The doctors exit the room next leaving me alone with my fiance, Adrien.

"Adrien, I love you," I tell him. "I love you too, Marinette," Adrien said.

I can see tears in his eyes. I sense he knows something is wrong. I wish I knew how to help him more. I pull the chair closer to his bed. I sit in it and hold his hand. "Adrien, you don't know how relieved I am you woke up. You were out for a long time," I told him.

   Adrien's POV:

"I'm sorry I made you worry. I didn't mean to, you know," I said to Marinette.

I saw a few stray tears fall. I was truly sorry that I made her cry.  I recalled how I proposed to her and she said yes. I blushed. My fiance is beautiful. I was blessed to have her in my life. I am glad that my sickness whatever it is did not make me leave her. I love her too much to abandon her.

"Marinette," I whispered her name. I squeezed her hand. "We will get through this together," I tried to assure her. "Yes, together," She responded. I wiped her tears away with a finger to my other hand. I hated that I had caused her pain.

I wanted with all my heart to make her happy. I knew she deserved happiness after all she had been through. I sighed. "Marinette, I will find a way to make it up to you somehow," I told her.

Marinette smiled, "I know you will that is one of the things I love about you, Adrien."  I winked at her. "Adrien, you know how to make me smile. " She said. I smirked. I saw her blush. I knew at that moment, she would never give up hope on us. Well, neither would I.
