Chapter 23 The Help
Marinette's POV:
Emilie came and helped me get Adrien to the hospital and checked him in right away. She explained her son had collapsed and that he was badly ill.
The doctors rushed him back to a room.
I sat there feeling sad. Why? How could this happen to him? Adrien was everything to me, but he is unconscious. He has a high temperature and he is in an unexplained coma. I already called for help. He is in the hospital and I am afraid for him.
"Marinette," I hear someone say. I look up to see Rachel standing there. "How did you know to come?" I ask. "The doctors called me, and I came right away," She tells me. I sob as she hugs me.
Soon, I heard another voice say, "Let me through, I am his mother." I am relieved Emilie came too. She looks at my hand and smiles. "Marinette, you are engaged to my son, Adrien," She says. "Yes, " I say. "I am happy for you both. Listen, I know it is hard to see it now but believe me when I say Adrien will find his way back to you," Emilie says.
The doctors and nurses enter the room. They frown. One of them says, "Out of here, now." He sounds gruff. We leave, not happily, but we do. Rachel, Emilie, and I stand near the exit to the place. We can't understand why were ordered away from Adrien's room. Doesn't the hospital staff know Adrien's sister, mother, and fiance came to see him?
I stood there angry. Why wasn't anyone telling me anything? What was wrong with Adrien?
I could not believe they had been so uncaring. How could they be this way? It was not my fault he collapsed. I had no idea what could have caused that sort of thing, to happen to him.
I was so afraid for him.
The doctors and nurses continued to work with him. One of them insisted they give him more fluids. So, more fluid medicines were attached to him. The doctor explained that Adrien's condition was serious as the medicine flowed through his veins. "If you hadn't brought him in, he might have died before we could help him," The doctor said.
I gasped in terror. "I helped her see he was given the proper medical attention," Emile explained. "Then, both of you saved his life," The doctor said.
He walked off.
I felt so hopeless. "Do you think he will be okay?" I asked Emilie.
"Yes, he will be fine," Rachel said. "I am sure he will be awake and ready for wedding plans in no time," Emilie told me. "Fine, I will hold onto the hope that he will press on," I said.
Two days later, I enter his room and he moves his arm. He does not move anything else. I smile.
"He moved his arm," I tell the nurse.
"Ah, yes, that is a good sign," She explained.
His mother and sister frowned. They did not feel his arm movement meant much.
The nurse left and Adrien started to blink, before we knew it he was looking right at me. "Marinette," I heard him say. "Adrien," I whispered.
"I am here too," Rachel said. "Same here," Emilie added.
"Sister, and Mother, what brings you here?" He asked. "To see you," Rachel said.
The doctor enters the room and sees that Adrien is awake. "Ah, good you are awake," He said. He checks his vitals and runs some more tests. "We are know for sure, once we hear back from the rest of the test," The doctors said.
"Know for sure what?" Marinette asked. "yes, what?" Rachel asked. "I would not like to know as well," Emilie remarked.
The doctor only smiles and leaves the room. He comes back a few moments later. "It is not diabetes. We have cleared off cancer too as all the tests come back negative for it, and we know for sure it is not the swine flu." The doctor told the group.
"What is it then, doctor? What is wrong with him?" Marinette asked.
"Shh, don't interrupt woman, "The doctor said. "We will know more once the rest of the test results come in," The doctor explained.
I smiled. I was glad Adrien was improving even if no one was sure what made him sick in the first place.
