Chapter 2 Shelter for a few days
Adrien's POV:
Adrien thinks, why is this family outside? He sees a few storm clouds begin to form and worries for Marinette's safety now more than ever. He feels about it since he barely met her.
"What brings you out here in this weather?" Adrien asks her.
"I could ask you the same question," Marinette remarks.
"I ran away from home, but I rather not talk about it," Adrien says. He can tell the girl's father does not approve of him.
Tom's POV:
"Rich boy, get your hands off my daughter," The girl's father says angrily.
"I meant no offense, sir," Adrien says.
"You say this when you touch her without any permission from me," He snaps at him.
Tom is distrustful of strangers least of all those who come from the rich community. He does not like them since it reminds him of things he did in his past that he regrets now.
Marinette's POV:
"Adrien, do not pay him any mind. He is so grief-stricken he speaks out of his head," Marinette explains.
She can Adrien means well but wishes her father could see as much.
"Yes, I can see that is for sure," Adrien says.
"I grew up here, what about you?" Marinette replies.
"Oh, same, but I am from across town," Adrien remarks.
Marinette smiles at him in confusion as if that is the strangest thing she ever heard in her life. She can not understand why he should his wealth to come out here.
Tom's POV:
"See told you he is a good for nothing rich boy," Marinette's father scoffs.
Tom points his fist in the air to show his hatred towards him at once. "Now, get out from here, boy, you hear me?" He asks. The question more a statement since he is angry with him for paying so much attention to his only child.
He rather the blonde boy move along and forget all about them.
Adrien's POV:
"Marinette, I am sorry. I did not know," Adrien responds.
"Adrien, it is not your fault," Marinette says as the rain comes down on them and soaks them all to the bone.
Adrien notices Marinette shivers. He helps her to her feet. "I know, it is not much, but here take this," He says.
"Wh-what? I could never take your money," Marinette answers.
"You need it more than I do, " Adrien replies. He worries that she will get sick soon if she does not get out of the storm.
Tom's POV:
"You heard her now go," Tom scowls.
Tom shakes his head to show he is not too happy with him. He goes to crawl inside a small cardboard box for the night. This is where he usually sleeps and he is not about to change now just because some good two shoes come around.
Adrien's POV:
Adrien grabs up Marinette and despite both her and her father's protest carries her to a hotel.
He pays for a room for her stay overnight in for a few days. He tells the desk clerk, "See to it she has breakfast every day, and plenty of orange juice inside the refrigerator inside her room."
"See you in a few days," Adrien tells her.
"Thank you, and see you then," Marinette responds.
Adrien leaves to go speak to Tom but finds him nowhere in sight. He shakes his head at the sad situation he has gotten himself into and wonders what it would be like to be homeless if only for a day? He goes back to the hotel and checks himself into a room. He grins when he finds out his room is across the hall from the one his new friend, Marinette stays in now.
