Nova Final Arc

NOVA

My legs burned as they worked overtime to reach home. I was moving much faster than I ever did when I was alive. The world became a blur around me as I raced through the woods to get home.

Dark clouds loomed above my head as the few droplets of rain began to fall. I rammed my shoulder against the door, sending it flying off of its hinges.

Thunder roared outside, the blinding flash of light lit the corridors of the house.

Aside from the pouring rain, the house was as quiet as the grave. I waded cautiously through the house, fists clenched at my sides.

"You're home late!"

The lounge.

Dad sat in an armchair, staring into the fire which burnt in the fireplace. The flames danced around, clicking subtly as the wood fed them fuel to burn more.

"Where's my mother you sack of shit!" I yelled.

Dad laughed, his gaze shifting to me. "You got some balls now boy?"

"I'm going to kill you...I'm going to kill you."

Dad suddenly vanished from his chair, reappearing in front of me faster than I could react. His fist crunched into my gut, with such force that I was sent careening backward. I flew out of the lounge,my spine colliding with the kitchen counter. I was barely able to regain my bearings before dad grabbed a hold of my collar. He picked me up,throwing me over the counter right back onto the kitchen floor once again.

I quickly popped up to my feet, feeling his arms snake around my neck. I kicked at the air as he hauled me off of my feet, trying my best to get him off of me. I fired elbows back into his rib cage, trying to break free from his grip. Dad grunted, tightening his grip round my throat.

My hand reached round for anything I could use, and I grasped at the dish rack. Grabbing a plate, I smashed it against dad's head, sending deadly shards of glass flying in all directions.

He let go of his grip and I fell to my knee's. I grabbed hold of one of the many broken shards of glass which littered the floor, turning around,I plunged it into Dad's kneecap.

He yelled out in pain as his left leg shot out, boot slamming into my face as the force sent me careening back into one of the lower cupboards.

I felt his grip on my ankle as Dad pulled me out from the cupboard, throwing me around like a rag doll, my head slamming against the edge of the counter and knocking over the dish rack before throwing me back into the lounge.

I shook my head, trying to clear it as I rose up. I felt rage bubble in my chest as dad's eye's widened.

"You...you're a revenant?" He asked.

How can he tell?

He burst in a fit of laughter, clutching his chest. "Wait! The ring around your neck! Hah! You killed yourself?! Hah! Haha! What a fucking weakling! I think they confused your gender! I might have got a daughter instead of a son!"

Rage bubbled in my chest as I charged my father once again. He stood firm, anticipating my next attack. I bashed my shoulder into his gut, sending him flying backward.

Once dad was away from me, I made a break up the stair case. Taking them two at a time, I stopped at the top, quickly dashing around the corner and waiting patiently. Dad's heavy footsteps came not too long after. When he arrived at the top, I buried a heavy right cross into his jaw. I felt it snap against my knuckles, and dad was lifted off of his feet. He fell back a few feet and I quickly moved forward, closing the distance between us. The soles of my boots collided with his face, and I stomped his head straight into the ground. I kept stomping, raising my foot and bringing it down atop his skull until the floor caved in beneath his head.

I turned round, running to each of the doors in the room, kicking them open one by one until I found mom. I hesitated before I got in. For a few moments I was frozen. Mom lay on the floor, her face bloody and battered.

"You're next boy!" Dad's voice came.

I turned on my heel then rolled to the side. Dad brought down a large axe which burrowed its way into the wooden floor, sending splinters of wood flying everywhere.

Where the fuck did he get that thing from?!

He had laid hands on my mother for the last time. I wasn't weak anymore. I wasn't someone who couldn't fight anymore. I could win. I could win.

We clashed again, with dad swinging his axe at blinding speeds. Both his eye's were pitch black, and he had a gaping hole in his chest. His attacks were a flurry of clumsy strikes, making them easy to avoid, yet they remained fast enough for it to be extremely difficult to find an opening to counter attack.

I hated being on the defensive. Each time I evaded,my rage bubbled in my chest, boiling until it spread throughout my body. Every dodge, every step back made me feel so...cowardly. So weak. I've been moving back my whole life. Forward...I must push forward. No more running away...fight head on. No regrets.

So I let my rage fuel my decision. If I couldn't find an opening,I would make one. When dad's strike came again,I didn't move, instead, this time,I took it directly. His axe buried itself into my shoulder, molten crimson splattered everywhere. I yelled out in agony as his axe cleaved into my flesh, yet, almost as soon as it made impact,he was unable to pull it out.

I didn't know why, yet I never complained. I took the oppurtunity, slamming my forehead against Dad's nose. He was staggered as I pulled his axe from my shoulder with ease. I grabbed it with two hands, dragging it across the floor before swinging it with all my might. I nearly threw my entire tiny body with it when I let go. It spiralled toward my dad, piercing his gut with the momentum carrying him into the wall. He coughed blood as the axe pinned him to the wall.

I couldn't give him a chance. Like a bolt of lightning I advanced to my father, grabbing his hair in my fists and slamming his skull repeatedly against the wall of the house. The collisions echoed through the house, and with each thud, my rage burned deeper in my chest.

Kill him...kill him!

That was the dominant thought in my mind. All the times he'd beaten me. All the horrible things he'd done. I wanted to just kill him. He deserved to die. He deserved death.

But, another thought slowly creeped up into my mind...

Mom...

Mother...my mother...a thought about my mother...

Save mom...

Save mom...

Save mom...

Save mom

My homicidal thoughts disappeared as I snapped back into reality. My mind focused on the task at hand and I immediately left my father there, pinned and helpless against the wall.

I ran to the room, dropping to my knee's as I placed two fingers on my mothers neck and checked for a pulse. Relief washed over my body when I found one. She was still breathing. My mother was still alive. That was all I needed.

I hauled her up, struggling to keep her above me with her towering size at the time.

I made my way out of that hell house with mother that night. I left Dad pinned in the wall, never looked back. I know he survived. I know he's still alive. But I don't care. He's not in my life anymore. I admitted my mother back into the private hospital, and with my new rank as commander,I was able to pay off the hospital fees with little effort. I was being paid in platinum rather than gold which made stressing about money a thing of the past.

I would spend the next few years training, honing my skills as a fighter, teaching others how to fight as well. I'd meet you, and train you to fight as well. Then...we slowly progressed to where we are today...

Your father knew about me being a revenant...he's one of the only people who knows...

That's about it...all you need to know about me.
