chapter twenty-one

“So your bird disappeared in the magic ball, right?”

“Yes.”

“And this was the outcome?”

“Seems like it.”

Aisha settled her hand on her friend's forehead, to check how much fever she had because to her eyes, she was just going crazy and the mysterious baby might be just a lost one who got separated from their family. “Flo, you sure you're fine?”

“No! Too much is going on. I-I don't even know what's going on!” Flora sighed in exasperation. “Where did Nabu bring Helia and Lilian?” The nature fairy sat on the bed, shaking her leg up and down in stress, looking sad as she missed her daughter.

“I recommended him to bring them to see the royal doctor, considering he's one of the best. I'm sure Lilian's going to be fine, she's a strong, tough, little girl. I mean, have you seen her mother?” The Queen sat next to her friend to side-hug her and friendly kiss her cheek.

Flora smiled at the compliment. “Thank you.”

“Okay. Where's this baby you're talking about? I'll make sure to bring it to the authorities and find the parents.” The water fairy stood up and tried to look around, but with the long gown she had on, it was kind of hard moving around.

Flora put her strand of blonde hair behind her ear as she noticed something move. “I think she's behind you.”

“Behind where--” From the ceiling, an invisible shape crawled, giggling the entire time. She opened her wings, now showing herself up and started flying around, butt naked. “Wha-- This baby can fly?!”

“Oh, didn't I tell you she does that?” The nature fairy said it so calmly, Aisha unhurriedly turned to her, with a glare of confusion, about how didn't she say such information earlier because now this changes the whole story. “She's so enthusiastic for her age.”

Aisha sighed in desperation then glanced something. “Flora! Look! She has feathers on her back.” The water fairy stated, implying as Flora frowned cluelessly.

“Yeah, I know that.”

“Sis, doesn't she remind you or glimpses like someone?!”

“...Uhm, who is she supposed to remind me of? Listen, suddenly I'm so tired.” Aisha wanted to facepalm herself so bad of how Flora didn't get it so quickly. “Can you help me with her?”

“Flo, listen. She looks like a freaking angel-- oh my, imagine if...” Aisha suggested, to hint her nature friend something and see if they had the same idea of the situation.

Flora shook her head immediately. “Oh good grief, no. Again with this angel story? No, no, no. She's no angel, okay?”

“Oh, then confide me what she is?” Aisha raised her eyebrow.

“The baby bird!” Flora told, hesitantly, while they both watched the strange baby fly around, having fun. “I mean, I guess that's who she is... I don't know!”

“That's it, we need to have the call with the girls now and discuss this situation-- get this baby!” The two fairies, mostly Flora since the Queen's gown was slowing herself down, were in a mission to catch a hysterical flying, short blue-haired baby.

They carried running and jumping around the room, in the hope to catch the baby. Flora didn't pay attention to where she was putting her feet, she fell over one of her bags that was next to her bed and fortunately landed on it. “Ugh!”

“You know, currently preferring Zale eating all the candies and running around instead,” Aisha panted, making Flora snicker a little at her. Abruptly, there was silence as the baby's laughter faded away too. “For the love of Andros, where she gone now?”

“Shh, let me attempt something.” Flora used her powers to close every window and curtains, not letting any access for daylight to get in, just darkness surrounding them for a few seconds. Aisha didn't move or made a sound as she interpreted whatever her friend was accomplishing.

Flora put her hands together as a few glooming blue petals materialized and roamed around, to fascinate the little one. One petal fled which meant the baby must have reached it and Flora promptly put her hand in a fist; the petals increased in size and joint together in a bigger blue flower that sucked in its target.

“Caught her!” Flora reopened the curtains and slowly made the blue flower float back down on her arms. Once it touched her, the plant reduced in size and vanished as a sleeping baby rested on the brunette arms. “Aw, she's sleeping.”

The baby burped then started crying. “Maybe she's hungry. I have Aqua's bottle here,” Aisha used her powers to make emerge a bottle of milk and passed it onto her friend to feed.

“This reminds me of the old days when Lilian was just as small as she is,” Flora smiled, at the cute memories of her firstborn. “Dear! She was sure hungry.” Flora and Aisha chuckled and as the baby swallowed the last drop of milk, she grew in size of an average one-year-old.

“Oh-oh, now that's weird.” Aisha nervously laughed while Flora was just in plain surprise and confusion. “Now we know for sure, she's not a normal human being.”

“Uhmmmmm, ummmmm...” Valiana meditated, her legs crossed and palms rested on them as she floated above the old grasp dead grass, that was supposedly her garden, as she was tidying her mind. “Uhmmm--”

“Lady!” Icy shouted, approaching the purple-haired woman, interrupting her meditation.

Valiana sighed, irritated by the ice witch and her annoying self. “What, Icy?!” She replied coldly, trying to not let herself distract or all her progress would just go to waste. “I don't know if you need prescribed glasses but can't you see I'm busy.”

“Pfft, who cares!?”

“Then go away.”

“I don't listen to you, remember? Anyway, what kind of brainwashing spell are you using on my sisters?! They agree with your stupid plan for tomorrow night!” Icy complained, against Valiana's will of leaving her alone.

Valiana scoffed. “I didn't use any brainwashing on any of them. They just agree with the way I work when it comes to these things.”

Oh, give me a break Valiana!

A strong feeling of nostalgia hit Valiana in so many ways she felt she was about to break down and cease. Giving attention to those words made her recall of a lost memory she believed she eventually got rid of it and neglected it but instead, it all succeeded getting back to her.

How- How could you?!” The Knight man screamed, in disbelief and the hall reverberated his voice.

You know I did what I had to do!” Valiana cried out, responding back to the man standing in front of her, who had a mix of disgust and anger towards her. In the meanwhile, behind the huge curtains, a girl, with her platinum hair wrapped in a braid, witnessed the whole scene.

“No, you're totally being selfish right now! Don't you see all the people around you are suffering because of you!

The reality hit her. I... I did not want it to end this way. I swear...

Oh, give me a break Valiana! This is what you always planned and wanted to do. You know what, get away from me and my world. You are banned to ever enter foot again. For life!” He declared, shocking the woman.

Valiana put both her hands in a fist, trying to contain herself. What!? You can't do that! The Gods--

After all the trouble and let's not forget all the pain you gave, I think it would sound reasonable to them. Now, leave and never come back, abomination! I never, and I mean ever, want to see you again. Go, you are dismissed.Valiana couldn't talk instantly, she felt betrayed by her own lover.

“As you wish.” Valiana turned on her heels, commencing walking out with her dress swinging along her hips.

He frowned and immediately stopped on her tracks. Where do you think you're going? If you think Alena will come with you, drop that idea out of your head.

Wait what?! Who do you think you are? No, I won't agree with you on this!” Valiana turned back around, to the man and looked straight into his orange eyes that now looked evil to her, not full of the usual love and lust she always saw.

Oh, last time I checked I think I can do that.” He explained confidently.

The purple-haired woman wanted to take her jewel out and challenge him to a battle so she could finally finish him once for all but unfortunately, she couldn't just kill the love of her life so she just used her own words to stand up for herself.

“You might be better than me, having better self-control than me or be more powerful than me, but you won't take Alena away from me.” Valiana broke down and could not hold back tears from her cherry eyes, that unsurprisingly darkened because of her emotions.

All this chaos made from them, a tear escaped from the girl's ruby eyes as they didn't know she was listening all along.

“Icy, for the last time, go away.” Valiana looked down. Now she lost control of her mind. A strange black flame surrounded the woman, looking like it was burning her skin but it wasn't. “Or I'll lose it.”

The witch gulped, quite scared of what was going on with her. “Ugh-- whatever.” She took the chance to leave.

Valiana took a few breaths, fighting to regain control of herself before it's too late. She concentrated on pushing back all the memories that were definitely useless to her because she has her own mission to focus on.

“Think about pain, think about pain.” The black flames slowly evaporated as Valiana kept repeating those words to get her head drew away.

How can you think about pain when you're in pain yourself. Let me help. A voice echoed in Valiana's mind and laughed at her.

“This is none of your business, get back, you're not coming out. I can control myself.” Valiana clenched her teeth and pushed the voice away so she wouldn't come back again anytime soon, well, as long as she doesn't get too much angry or build a huge amount of rage inside of her.
