chapter thirty-five

It was the beginning of twilight to occupy the atmosphere, meaning the day was coming to an end, but her time in the cell was not anywhere near to end as she hoped so.

The fairy has fought through many enemies worse than what she was going through, but why did it feel like something was different.

Something was about to end.

“Bloom...”

She stirred up, frantically inspecting her left and right corner.

“Bloom...”

“...What--?”

“Bloom...”

“Uh... Is it you, Dragon?”

And so, the fairy started closing her eyes, in order to continue the communication with her inner dragon. And so, the surroundings changed from the gloomy deserted cell into raging flames. She was spiritually located in its home: The Dragon's Flame's unique home.

The redhead walked towards the mythical creature as she raised her hand and met its head, and gently stroked the Dragon.

The fire was now living around them and under their feet but of course, they did not feel either hot or like they were burning themselves. This was their original environment, nonetheless.

“Greetings, Dragon.”

“Bloom...”

She looked down at her feet. “I'm sorry.”

“I am also sorry.”

“But why won't you come out and assist me?”

The Dragon sat down, swinging deliberately its tail side by side. “It is because Valiana would get access to me easily because that is what she wants. She's using your friends to rage you into transforming.”

“And, what's the bad part about it? Will she try to take the Dragon's Flame-- That would be funny because no one can ever steal it from us, right? Isn't it pretty impossible?” Bloom nonchalantly chuckled.

“Valiana has already got in her hands what she wanted from your friends but you're her last piece.” The Dragon told Bloom with its sad eyes, as it made an unforgivable mistake and tried to blame itself instead.

The redhead shifted closer to the Dragon. “And what did she possess from my friends?”

“The other parts to make up the Dragon's Flame. You recall when you gave them away because the Winx has loosened their powers due to the Legendarium?”

Bloom nodded in guilt.

“Those parts are now influenced with your friends' powers, so that would make up her so-called flower, in other words, the righteous divine weapon she has been longing for.” The Dragon exasperatedly sighed as it crossed its front arms.

The fairy scratched her head nervously then embraced herself as she rubbed her arms for the reason that she didn't feel great at the moment. “Wow... Yeah, that doesn't sound good.”

“So now each part of the Dragon's Flame will make her previous six ‘petals’. Each petal had a power of its own: intelligence, symphony, water oceans, light, the essence of creation and lastly the burning flames.”

“I might as well transform and beat her to the ground already. I have been separated from my family for too long. I want to be with my kids and Sky!” Bloom held back her tears as she crossed her arms as she determinedly decided her next step. “I'm not going to sit back anymore and if you won't assist me, it's better if you move to a safe place.”

“Your Majesty... Please. Rethink about it.”

“This might also be my fault isn't it?”

The Dragon shook its head.

Then, Bloom sighed as she rested her hand on the Dragon to caress its coat to soften it. “There's something else, right?”

“I was part of the agonising war between the light and dark worlds. I saw Valiana's true nature. She could be way stronger than you and the Winx put together.”

“I can be strong too.”

“Her powers are also from divine origins, Your Highness.”

“Dragon, I'm not doing this only for me. I am doing this for my family. If I must be selfish, I would be only for them.”

The creature bowed. “As you wish.”

Bloom opened her eyes, which changed shade from cyan to faint red-yellowish. She settled her hands into fists as she melted the chains and felt finally free. All the energy she saved up for a random day to fight was going to be particularly useful.

Hopefully.

The fairy got up and walked straight towards the cell's bars. Her hair was slightly levitating and whenever she took a step, torch flames pursued behind.

Once she was in front of the bars, the only thing she did was slightly touch with her index finger to have the whole thing disappear in ashes. Right at that moment, a blonde-haired guy was stood in shock and dropped his sword onto the floor, there were only an echo and silence after for a few seconds.

At first, he could not say a word to process what just happened.

“Sky?”

“B-Bloom!”

The couple embraced one and the other into their arms, crying on each other's shoulders.

“You're alive, thank goodness. I am never leaving you again.”

She broke the hug as she grabbed his arms and stared deep into his eyes with tears emerging in each other's eyes. “What the heck, what took you so long?!”

“I missed you too, Bloom.” Sky chuckled as he gently pushed a thread of her hair behind her ear.

They smiled at each other. However, that small moment of happiness cannot last long when they were still inside Valiana's tower. It was time to leave now.

“Sir! The Trix! They're heading down! I think they are behind Nabu.”

Sky ran his fingers through his hair and wrapped his arm around his wife's waist. “Urgh, I don't like this. Let's just find another way out--”

“Wait, you're here... Where are the girls?”

“Bloom, it's okay. The other Specialists are also here looking for the Winx. In the meanwhile, let me escort you out so then I can come back in and support them--”

“No way, I'm also going to help.”

“No, you're not! Look at the state of you! You can barely hold on to me.”

“Listen, I am not going to stay still. I am going to my friends, that's final. You, show me the way--” She directly spoken to a random soldier before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.

I sense one of the Winx nearby and seem to know where she is.

Who is she? Is she alive?

It is the nature fairy.

“Got it,” Bloom muttered aloud this time after ending the conversation with the Dragon itself. “Let's go.”

“Wait, Bloom. Before we go. Promise me you won't hurt or push yourself to fight for too long.”

“Sky.”

“Mmh?”

“How are our kids? Does Flame still have panic attacks? Does Blake still need his teddy to sleep and does Scarlett runs around with her pacifier?”

“No, Flame doesn't anymore, thankfully. Blake is okay too as well as Scarlett. Our kids... our kids are the best like always.” He leaned his forehead against his wife's, just to have a moment. She felt his hot breath. “Let's just go back home together to hug and give a good night kiss to the kids.”

Bloom kissed him. It was a short smooch, but it was more than enough.

“Thanks for everything.”

-

PRESENTLY...

Bloom started coughing, instantly catching Sky's attention back onto her. Once he tried to check, she pushed him away and hid her face by turning her back on him.

“I just need to gain back my energies that's it. I'm okay, Sky. Really.”

“If you're okay, let me see your face!”

He ran in front of his wife, but her head was down, her arm on her stomach because she felt fragile and physically unstable. Sky cupped her face in between his hands and gently raised her head, just to meet blood dripping down.

“Sky... I'm sorry.” She whimpered.

“What do you mean you're sorry?! Bloom! What did you do to yourself?” The blonde-haired King cried in agony as he hugged the fairy in a tight embrace. “Bloom... Please...”

Nabu rubbed the back of his neck, not sure how to respond emotionally, unaware of what is happening. “Wha-- What's going on?”

The fire around Flora died out, showing up the nature fairy in the same position Helia last saw her. Then, he immediately ran towards her body to check his wife.

“Flora?” Helia whispered, leaning his ear close to her nose to see if she was still breathing. And, thankfully, she was. He also noticed that some of her bruises faded out but not most, although he did not know how that occurred.

“She's alive, Helia. I made sure the fire was protecting and healing her. Well, the healing part did not have much effect I guess.” Bloom weakly smiled, coughing again. “Are the others safe?”

“Stop talking and rest. Think about yourself too.” Sky insisted.

Hello? Is anyone there? The boys' earpiece said, and they instantly recognised who was it.

Sky tapped his earpiece as he assisted Bloom by getting her arm over his neck so she would have to hang on him instead of her own weight as she was still weak at the moment. “Roger, yes. What's up Timmy, you good?”

Yeah, man. I found Tecna. It's time to go now.

“Great, we got everyone. Now, let's get the hell out of here.” The blonde-haired man smiled, happy that soon it would be the end and it is their triumph.

Well, that was too soon to celebrate victory as it was soon interrupted by the footsteps of someone who must be wearing high heels.

Aww, did I miss the reunion party?

Right then and there, Flora began opening her eyes as she accidentally scratched Helia's hand but that was to get him to listen to her and weakly mumbled, “It's Valiana... Run.”

“Wow, what an entrance. So this is the famous Valiana?” Sky commented and walked ahead as he stretched out his arm in front of his wife to hold her safe from Valiana's wrath. “Usually, you would be invited to parties, but you weren't specifically invited into this one.”

Valiana fake gasped as she placed her hands on her chest. “Aw, that broke my heart, King of Eraklyon.”

“If you want to fight anyone, fight me. You had enough time with the Winx.” Sky confidently challenged and was ready to unwrap his sword laying on his back, but she started laughing.

“Sky...” Bloom whimpered as she lowered his arm to indicate that he did not need to protect her, but he did not listen to her. She began praying for everything to go well and for everyone to be safe.

“That would be no fun considering how weak you guys are.” Valiana smiled as she cleared her throat and tilted her head side by side to crack her neck to feel eased.

Flora coughed and her lip trembled as she placed her hand on his. “Helia... Just go and protect the others instead.”

“I'm not leaving anyone here. Which that certainly includes you too.” Helia took off his jacket to cover Flora's naked arms so she would feel warm at least. He embraced her in a tight hug. “Stay still, please.”

The fairy nodded as she took a very exasperated sigh.

“You guys are funny; you should have been actors instead of putting a show of being these stupid Prince Charmings saving their good-for-nothing princesses.” Valiana pushed a strand of her hair behind onto her back.

Bloom pushed herself away from Sky's grip to glare at Valiana. “Watch your mouth, I am the Queen of Eraklyon.”

“Oh, sorry, Your Majesty. I didn't mean it, then.” Valiana bowed but could not hold in her laugh back either so she let it out. On purpose.

Right at that moment, Sky's soldiers arrived and surrounded the purple-haired woman, and all raised their guns pointed at her head, in the case for any sudden movements. Eraklyon's King finally felt he could breathe again.

Helia also finally took a breath of relief and called upon the leader of the Specialists. “Sky, it's better if we start getting going while they will arrest her--”

Valiana raised her head, with an annoying smirk glued on her lips. “Uhm? Arrest whom?” Her eyes appear to be glowing.

Bloom and Flora knew what meant when her eyes would act up like that.

The fire fairy gasped and ran in front of Sky as she embraced him and shouted with her eyes closed, “Guys... E-Everyone, run!”

“Yeah, run.” Valiana mimicked her. She tilted her head back in the record time of less than a second, creating a harsh blow of wind that knocked off the soldiers first as they all got pushed back against the nearest walls, making them all pass out in one go for a while.

Bloom although was able to create a fire shield to stop the wind to hit her and her friends, though, she felt bad she was not able to save the soldiers in time. Moreover, the fairy was struggling to keep the shield up because Valiana was repeatedly hitting it with light strikes. And so, the shield broke down in pieces and Valiana was finally able to slam the rest on the floor, which made them stunned.

Helia and Nabu got pushed together to a wall but they did not get hurt as much as the soldiers did and Flora lost grip of Helia as she rolled to a near corner, groaning with herself in discomfort. Sky landed in between them, with Bloom in his arms as he preferred to protect her instead.

The nature fairy witnessed this as she shifted her eyes onto the group of her friends and husband. With her right hand, she reached to grab the corner of the wall and forced herself to stand up as she held her stomach with the other arm.

“Flora. Stay back.” Helia whispered in distress as he could not easily move yet, but his wife ignored him and continued to get herself on her feet.

“She never gives up, doesn't she?” Valiana commented as her eyes glowed again but this time to look through the wall that was in between her and the fairy to see Flora's exact position. “Are we playing hide and seek now? I didn't even get to count up to ten.”

The brunette eventually exposed herself and walked in front of people. “Valiana! How dare you!”

“Oh... Sorry. I forgot these wimps were your friends.”

“Don't make me laugh, please. I've had enough now.” Flora winced as she leaned forward, resting her hands on her knees. “What do you really want, uh?”

“I said it multiple times already!” The purple-haired villain began glowing as her eyes beamed once more as she had to occur her powers, even though she had limits and coincidentally as well as luckily Bloom knew about those limits as she calculated them herself.

The answer was: it was the beginning of daytime.

“You sure are going down today.” Bloom challenged as she stood up to walk next to Flora. Her brunette was unable to think clearly what the fire fairy meant by that, but she was too tired to think about it.

This disturbed Valiana as she gulped so she commenced crumbling the entire tower with her few remaining energies, which put in alert the soldiers and the Specialists. She laughed, loudly enough to be heard from the others outside the fort.

“What the--” Sky was not able to finish his sentence once a defeating thump was auricularly discerned.

“Let's all go down together then.” The villain announced following a hideous laugh as a tremor of walls and floor followed right subsequently.

Sections of the ceiling began to collapse one after the other on the ground as everyone else panicked because they needed to evacuate hastily.

A chunk was close to falling on top of Bloom and Flora, and Valiana watched it happen just to see the piece did not fall on them, but it was floating above their heads.

This was neither Valiana nor the fairies' doings.

Rise.”

The tower's tumbled pieces came back together as if they were a puzzle and sealed together, in addition to looking like nothing has just happened.

Everyone turned their heads as they shifted their focus from Valiana at the sudden person who intervened. But the uncanny thing was that the mysterious person was not even a person, they were a living ghost floating a few millimetres from the floor.

Helia was familiar with the person and for a second he overlooked and disregarded where he has seen them before, up till the time Valiana pointed it out in utter shock.

The ghost nodded its head. “It is me, sister.”
