chapter fifteen

That night, time seemed to have stopped for Flora, as it seemed like the night was going on forever. The nature fairy just couldn't close her eyes without reconsidering Faragonda's state from this afternoon.

She turned around towards her husband, who was sleeping soothingly, as he breathed slowly. Flora moved a strand of his hair away from his face and smiled.

“Helia, you awake?” Flora softly uttered, not occurring too noisy in case she surely wakes him up. “Sorry, you were so tired.” She caressed his face before sitting up on the bed and resting her back on the headboard.

Flora didn't turn the lights on, just stared into the darkness, that had been lightened up by the moon's light. She took a deep breath then turned her legs around and let her naked feet touch the carpeted floor. She silently walked towards her daughter's room, and pushed the door, as it was already slightly open.

Lilian was sleeping peacefully since she hadn't her nap that day; she was very tired after eating dinner in the evening and within half an hour later, she fell asleep on the couch and Helia bought her upstairs to her room. Flora walked in, kneeling to look at her daughter, whose lips were slightly parted and her cheeks reddened.

“You sure were tired too, my little girl.” Flora chuckled, leaning in to kiss her head. She stood up, about to leave her daughter's room before she noticed a paper on Lilian's little desk. It was the drawing her husband made and gave it to her when he came back from his visit to his mother, Rosa.

Flora felt the sudden urge to pick it up and examine it. She was bothered by the fact that she never seen the flower, but something tells her she did already seen it, she just didn't know where or when exactly. Suddenly, the paper flew away from her hand, making her jump as she stared at the paper land next to Lilian instead.

“What in the world!?” Flora mumbled, trying not to be too loud to wake her daughter. “Hey! What are you trying to do?” Flora was about to take the paper away from Lilian when some kind of imperceptible magical spiral pushed her away slightly. “Woah, okay, easy there.”

Somehow, the drawing calmed down a bit, listening to the nature fairy. Flora, for a split second, thought she just saw the flower in the paint move, but when she blinked again, it wasn't next to Lilian anymore but back on the desk.

“W-what-- You know what, I just need some... some air!”

The nature fairy gave up and immediately left the room, semi-closing the door, as she knew that's the way Lilian liked. She was trying to elaborate on what happened.

“Am I dreaming or am I dreaming, but did a drawing just pushed me with some kind of mystic invisible wave and went back to where it was before?!” Flora thought, repeating the scene in her head then she looked at Helia sleeping as nothing happened. “And you! What kind of dreams you had to draw that demonic flower?!”

She giggled a little at herself of how she just asked someone a question while they're sleeping.

Flora sighed but then an idea came to her mind. She opened the window all the way up and felt the breeze on her tanned skin. Flora stepped back and transformed into her fairy form as she opened her wings and flew out of the mansion.

The fairy let herself relax up in the sky in the air, as she was flying around Gardenia since she needed to get her wings back in shape and clear her mind. There was barely anyone out and most lights were out, only the stars light the sky like snowflakes in the night, yet appear still, like an old photograph.

“Such a beautiful scene.” Flora smiled, enjoying the wind brushing her face and hair. Although, her mind began rethinking of the ancient story of Her Excellence, as Faragonda said.

“As you all know and learned from history lessons, you should be aware of how the Gods created the light and the dark.” Griselda began explaining, to make things quicker, leaving the book closed for the moment as she was summering it out to the Winx first, mostly Stella, because she didn't pay attention to most lessons.

“Such as fairies and witches,” Tecna stated, giving an example and already coming up with a theory of her own.

“Yes, Tecna. Initially, I remember those ‘worlds’ were ruled by other two inferior Gods, who had a pact that there would always be peace between the two and that they wouldn't interfere with what's going on in the other universe.” Saladin explained, trying to continuing to memorize the legend too, given that it was so old, almost no one talked about it. Until now.

“So what does the book say?” Aisha questioned, crossing her arms as she sighed, ready to listen so they could get it over it and she would get back to her children because she wasn't currently liking the situation.

Griselda tried to open the book but she struggled as it seemed to be stuck together. “Good grief!” Inspector Griselda exclaimed, as she tried to open the book again and she succeeded but there was another problem.

“What in Magix is going on with that book?!” Stella exclaimed as she saw the words of the book leave the pages and disappear into the thin air as Saladin and the Winx watched, in an alert.

“You guys, look!” Musa noticed that some words didn't fade away from a couple of pages. The remaining words put themselves on one of the pages, one by one, making a sentence in a small paragraph as the fairies gathered around to see and Griselda and Saladin watched too, unaware.

The Winx tilted their heads to read what was the book saying as they all read out: “When the stars collapse and thy moon turn red, she will soon reclaim her title and go by the name of...”

...

Empress of the Underworld,” Flora uttered, getting trembles down her body as she flew through a cloud. “That name. Why does it sound so strange to me...?” Flora didn't pay attention, she almost fled against a bird and she dodged it, although the bird went in between her wings and she mislaid control as she began to fall downwards.

The nature fairy reopened her eyes, realising what was happening and before she could end up in a bush she moved her wings again and flew back up in the sky. She sighed in relief then decided to go back to her room before Helia notices she wasn't in bed anymore with the window open.

Flora winged her way to the window, which was still left open and made her way back in. She turned back to her human form and closed the window.

The fairy yawned, now finally feeling sleepier than before and slipped back in the bed next to her husband, who hasn't changed his position and Flora cuddled to him, falling asleep.

“So... you're looking for a ‘jewel’ you lost ages ago?” Darcy questioned Valiana, as she was wondering what was her real purpose of getting the Trix out.

“A special jewel that belongs to me, actually.” Valiana corrected her, looking through the kingdoms in the Magic Dimension from her crystal ball, to see if she could find someone suspicious. “You'll be surprised by what it can do.” She grinned, making the Trix shot up a look.

“Tell us what it's capable of then, miss know-it-all.” Stormy mocked her grin.

“No.”

“Why not?”

“Maybe because it isn't any of your business to know sweetheart?” Valiana responded in a fake kind tone, repeatedly blinking her eyelashes.

“You see, this is unfair! You clearly are hiding something from us and we both know you got some incredible powers and you are stronger than us. How can you know everything about us but we can't about you?” Darcy exclaimed, letting all of her thoughts out and she sighed in relief because she was getting tired of keeping it all in. Mostly, after seeing what she has done to Faragonda, she didn't want to end up the same as her.

“I agree with Darcy. Why do you need us for? It looks like you got everything under control.” Stormy stated, a bit more quietly than before when she noticed Valiana land her eyes on her and she didn't change her posture to show she wasn't intimidated.

“I see,” Valiana said, calmly, playing with a strand of her purple hair. “You still don't trust me, uh?”

“Pfft, why should we?” Icy frowned, looking up and down at Valiana unbelievably. “You still haven't told us what's your power ability!” Icy complained, once again to the purple-haired girl, who was ignoring her, provoking Icy even more.

“This is a daily thing now.” Stormy whispered in Darcy's ear, following with the witch nodding at her comment, agreeing with her.

Icy was the only one, out of all the Trix, that really was obsessed with wanting to know what power ability Valiana possessed. The reason why was because she hated the feeling of being less powerful than someone so that they could boss Icy around instead and she couldn't accept it.

“And don't you ignore me,” Icy warned and crossed her arms as she made appear sharp ice cubes above her head, aimed at Valiana.

“Icy--” Valiana sensed a mysterious, yet familiar, wave that has come from a very distant place, away from where they were at momentarily, which made Valiana jump on her feet, cautioned.

“Hey, what's up with you?” Icy shrugged, feeling very irritated that Valiana was acting weird but wasn't listening to her.

“You felt that?” Valiana looked around her, then up to the ceiling, rising up with an intention.

“The only thing I feel right now is anger and if you won't let me and my sisters out of this place, I'll--” Icy got interrupted by Valiana's glowing eyes, activating her powers, she waved her hands somehow generating a black smoke from her hands and pushed the air on the floor and pushed herself up through the roof. “Are you insane!? Weirdo!” Icy shouted at her.

I'm sure I definitely felt it. One more wave, please I need to know where are you!” Valiana thought, in frustration, as she was levitating in the air, under the violet sky. She closed her eyes, hoping to feel another radiation but nothing. “Ugh!.... Well, at least I know I'm getting close to finding you again.” Valiana smirked.
