Helia stirred up, stretching his arm on the other side of the bed, ready to feel the usual warm skin against his but instead the usually occupied space used by Flora was filled with emptiness. He quickly got up, concerned about where she was although the bed cover felt warm so that means she must have just woken up too.
The black-haired young man got up, making his way out of the bedroom, looking for his wife. During this period of time, Helia was extremely overprotective of Flora because she was in the last trimester of her pregnancy and needed to ensure that nothing would happen to either his wife and his child.
“Flo?”
He wandered through the whole second floor of their house, from their bedroom to the newly built nursery room. But nothing - Flora was just not there.
So, he went ahead, guiding his feet on the ground floor through the stairs. Helia checked the kitchen and even the main living room, but still no sign of his beloved pregnant wife.
“Ugh. Where did she go this time?... It is so early too.” He scratched the back of his head nervously.
It was not that he did not trust her alone by herself, considering she is one of the most powerful fairies of the entire Magic Universe, yet, it didn't mean he wasn't allowed to worry and be concerned over her. Flora's mother, Alyssa, even reminded him that her water could break at any time so it's crucial to be next to her when the time comes.
Although, if Flora decides to sneak away like she's doing right now, was not helping to calm a rather anxious Helia.
While so, he opened the first window he saw from the living room to let fresh air brush his skin and ventilate the room properly.
That was when he heard a chuckle after another chuckle coming from outside the house.
“Flora? Are you there?”
“Hm-mmm. Right here.”
“Hold on.”
The young man loosened the wooden doors vast and the first thing he noticed was that his wife was sitting down with her legs on her right side, stroking onto her belly as she spoke. A considerably tremendous sunflower played as her seat while flowers, vines, earth animals, birds and even butterflies were all gathered around that specific spot around the nature fairy: she was in contact with nature and surroundings.
Helia was nothing other than being utterly shocked at the beautiful sight of what he was witnessing and slowly approached his wife as the animals made an opening for him. “Woah... What's going on?”
“I couldn't sleep properly because of the eager kicks the baby's giving me, so, I came out here and they were here to keep me company.” Flora smiled as a monkey landed on the disc floret of the sunflower to place a crown made out of leaves on the brunette's head and giggles as she told him. “Aw, thank you! I'm glad.”
“Ooh, it's like you're Mother Nature, now.” He complimented and was stroking some of the animals' heads with kindness and no bad intention.
“Yeah, maybe I kinda am. Look at them, they were telling me how much they're excited for the baby to come. And guess what? They promised to be the guardians over her for us. Aren't they cute?” Flora clapped her hands together while a couple of butterflies landed right on her belly.
Helia gently picked one with his index finger and the bug was astonishedly covered in multiple black dots within its green and blue wings. “These butterflies are so nice. I should draw them later on.”
“Mmh, you should. You haven't drawn in a while, Helia. Draw something before she comes so I can have a piece of memory I can keep.”
“That's a good idea--” He was cut off by the monkey jumping right on his shoulders and whipping his tail around, hitting Helia many times on his face. “Hey--!”
“He just wants to play, love.” Flora explained with a chuckle.
“Oh, yeah? Me too - but, no hitting and screaming!” Helia grabbed the monkey on time as he stood laid in his arms, confused with the human in front of his so he jumped again and hid next to Flora, the Guardian of Linphea, where he felt much more comfortable.
“It's okay, dear. Don't mind him.” The nature fairy began to shift her movements and the sunflower instantly intercepted those movements and brought the couple much closer to the ground so they could get off easier, but more importantly, it was aimed at Flora. “Thank you, I appreciate it. I'll go back inside, if you need anything just tell me!”
Both plants and animals responded their own ways, such as roses blooming their petals or birds singing a soothing melody, then they began distancing themselves from Flora's and Helia's front doors.
“And I thought that, once I had a daughter, I would be overprotective of her. But seems Linphea itself is her guardian now. I wonder why?”
“The answer is reasonably obvious, Helia, and I was told about this too. I am the Guardian of this planet. Nature knows that I am fully devoted to protecting as well as being the bridge between other planets and Linphea. Now, at a crucial time like this, they're here to show that they support me.” She started whimpering and Helia gently let her head rest on him as he wrapped his arm over her.
“Our baby is not a blessing just to us. It is also for them, Flora.”
“She'll do great things, I can feel it.”
~~~
“Helia! Quick, come here!”
“Yes?!”
He rushed from his study room, running down the stairs, not caring if there was a chance he could trip and fall. Then, he hurried into the living room, knowing Flora would be there to relax and feel at ease.
“Is anything wrong?” Helia panted as he gazed at his wife.
“Feel her kicks! I told you that she's very eager today.” Flora chuckled as she got up from the couch and hurrying over by Helia's side as she took his hands and placed them on her belly. “Wait... See?”
“Woah! Why's she kicking so much?”
“Probably because I'm eating. She didn't do anything the whole day except when I start eating.” She guessed before going back where she sat earlier and continue eating her grapes. “By the way, we still need to decide on her name.”
“Yeah, you're right. She could come out any day.” Helia told as he also sat next to his wife who instantly pulled her legs to rest on his lap.
“Any names in mind?”
“Actually, I have one that has been stuck on my mind.” The dark-haired man admitted, stretching his hand out to rest it on Flora's belly with warmth in his heart every time he was also able to feel movements and this time, he instantly did.
“Oh, really? Spill the beans.”
Helia smiled as he massaged her legs with his thumbs in circular motions. “Well, aren't you going to guess?”
“How can I guess, there are like millions of names out there!” The nature fairy told as she used her powers to attract a bowl of fruit on her way. “Give me a break, please.”
“Okay, first, what do you want our child to be?”
“You truly wanna know what I want our child to be?” Flora threw a grape in her mouth before putting the bowl down on the table near the couch.
“I guess so. Yeah.”
The brunette giggles as she went on and thought about it. “Okay. I want our child to be the.. most courageous, bravest, kind and always full of hope. That's what I wish for.”
“Mmm, I love the sound of it. That's nice to know.” Helia smiled, pulling his arm over her shoulders then getting up, leaving his wife alone again in the living room.
“I know...? Seriously, where is he going now?” Confused, she also stood up from her seat and wanted to follow him but she noticed he must've gone upstairs again in his study room. “Nope, I'm sorry, but I cannot go up the stairs. My feet hurt.”
She generated a vine with the plant of a nearby vase that gently clasped her and enabled her to move across the floors. Then, with her elegant swollen feet, she attained for the study room that was next to their bedroom but before she could do that, she discovered the nursery room's door left open.
“Helia?” Her head popped into the room followed by the rest of her body.
Her husband was leaning on the crib with a piece of paper in his hands as he gazed dreamily. “Check this out!”
“Is it a drawing?” Flora questioned with curiosity, her hands below her belly for support due to the weight. “Aww, are those lilies?”
“Yeah, they gave me a sense of purity for this new beginning for the both of us. Here, read what's at the back. When our daughter will be older, I'll pass this onto her.”
He flipped the paper around, and as Flora's eyes skimmed through the message, her eyes watered and tears were flowing down her rosy cheeks. Helia smiled at this moment and wrapped his arm over her shoulders and soothed her.
For my daughter,
All my life, I always felt something was missing. Something did not complete me. Then I met your mother and she gave me you.
You were what I was missing.
I'll always cherish you, adore you, support you, but most importantly, love you.
Right now, you're in Mommy's belly, and that's very reckless of you considering your father wants to meet you already and bathe you with love. But it's okay, my dear daughter, the moment you are in my arms will be the moment I decided I will never let you go.
Because you are daddy's girl.
As I write this, the smile on my lips hasn't stopped.
Lots of love,
Dad.
“This is so beautiful, stop.” Flora giggled, wiping the tears away.
Helia kissed her head before turning the letter around again back to the drawing he freshly completed. “Not done yet. Read what's on the bottom right of the drawing.”
“Eh? Okay, alright.” The fairy narrowed her eyes to focus because the tears prevented her so with a blurry vision but she was able to distinguish the letters. “Lilian. Lilian? Is this the name you chose? Say nothing more, I am in love!”
“Really?”
“Mhm, yes!”
“Lilian, it is.”
