in which
everyone in the party (other than max and lucas) moved away after the fall of hawkins, dustin moved to utah, the byers moved back to california which the wheelers followed, steve harrington moved to new york and a few years later robin and vickie joined him. for fifty years not a single one of them entered hawkins until they got a call from lucas, telling them that max was awake, causing them to all return to hawkins with their families.

will byers has always had a special connection to the upside down, so it was no surprise that when he returned to hawkins he started to hear thoughts from vecna. the group being not as young as they once were can't keep hawkins safe, so the younger generation take matters into their own hands.
