5. One More Game

Watching the two teams perform I was hoping we'd be able to pass on this. The team with Hyunju was working well. Whenever they had a victory. We all cheered. Watching these sports was like a messed up Olympics. Instead of playing for medals, it was money and your life. I saw Hyunju start slapping the crazed woman on her team. Player 44. I didn't know what it was about but it worked. They got past the Spinning Top. So far they were the first team to complete it. We all cheered for them. More teams kept playing including mine. We won the challenge. I just had to wait for Gihun's group. Of course we had to wait in the sleeping quarters. It was like the marble game all over again. When I waited for Ali, Saebyeok and Gihun the first time alone. Gihun must've been apart of the last group. "Are you worried?" A voice asked me. It wasn't Se-Mi. I looked up and it was Hyunju.

"I guess so. My friend is still in there." I said to her and she looked at me and nodded.

"May I?" She asked me and pointed to the gap beside me. I nodded.

"Yeah, of course." I said to her.

"Player 456, you were in the game together." She said to me and I looked at her and nodded.

"The only two that survived." I said to her. Just like that it was almost like she could see the pain in my eyes.

"Did you lose someone you loved?" She asked me and I looked at her and nodded.

"The love of my life. She was killed in that corner." I said to her and nodded at the corner.

"I'm sorry. I guess this is your revenge." She said to me and I nodded. Hyunju and I talked for a bit before I went to Thanos and Se-Mi.

"How old are you?" Thanos asked me and I looked at him.

"21." I said to him and nodded. I was 18 during the first game.

"It's settled. Gyeong-su is the youngest, you're the same age and you're older. Hey, call her noona since she's older. Do it." Thanos said to us all. Namgyu just laughed. When Gihun made it back. I was happy. He was still here. We could continue our fight together. I must've been the only one happy to see him.

"Looks like your friend made it." Se-Mi whispered to me and I looked at her.

"I'm glad he did. I can't finish our battle alone." I whispered to her. It felt weird being on this kind of a team. Especially when I despised it last time. It wasn't long until the pink men came in again.

"Congratulations to all of you for making it through the second game. Here are the results of the second game." The manager said and that's when the O and the X appeared on the floor. The trilling then started and the piggy bank was loaded again. "In the second game, 110 players were eliminated. The prize money accumulated up to this point is 20.1 billion won. Since there are 255 players remaining, each person's share is 78,823,530 won." The manager said and I liked that amount.

"Wait, what? It's still under 100 million? It's not even 80 million." Someone shouted.

"Only 110 people died? Is that all? Did you count them right?" A woman shouted. She really didn't care for the lives of others.

"That's all? But you shot all those people!" Another man shouted.

'It was more than that!" Yeongsam shouted.

"Count them again!" Jeongdae shouted. I was staying silent. There was no point in saying anything.

"I completely understand your disappointment. However, we always keep the door open for you to pursue new opportunities. You will now take a vote to decide whether to continue the games or not." The manager said and I was going to play another game. "Whether to continue the games for a bigger prize or to stop here is entirely your choice. Please feel free to exercise your right to choose in a democratic manner." He said to us and there was no order today.

"What are you going to say?" Se-Mi asked me and I looked at her.

"It makes sense to play one last game." I said to her. This would be the third out of six. It would be enough.

"This time, the vote will begin with Player 001. Player 001, please cast your vote." The manager said, it looked like we'd be going in the opposite order. That's when the voting began. I was just waiting for my turn. I was ignoring what everyone was saying. My team, we all agreed for one more game. Namgyu was the first person in our group to vote and he stuck it out.

"Everyone!" Gihun shouted.

"Are you all out of your minds? You still want to keep going after watching all those people die? Who's to stay you won't die in the next game? We have to stop. We'll all die if we keep going! Come to your senses, and leave with that money. You've got to survive first, or there won't be a next step." Player 1 shouted at us all.

"What do you think we can do with a mere 70 million? I don't know how much you owe, but for most people here, that doesn't even cover 10% of their debt. Am I right? There's no next step for us! That money won't change anything!" Jeongdae shouted at us all and he was right. That's why one more game would be enough.

"Yes, he's right!" Player 43 shouted out.

"That's right!" Another man shouted.

"With that amount of money, I won't last long." Player 43 shouted at us all. A lot of people wouldn't.

"It was 25 million after the first game, and now it's 78 million! After one game, the amount more than tripled! If we play one more game, the prize will be at least 240 million!" Jeongdae shouted and that would help a lot of people.

"But I can't do this anymore. Please. Please me out of here. I really...I really want to go home. I don't want to die." One girl cried, I knew where she was coming from.

"Young girl. You're young, so you'd probably have another chance. But I don't." A guy said to her.

"Please." She pleaded with us all.

"My family and I have no future. My business failed, and I now owe over 500 million. I've got to make at least half of that here if I want a real shot at a fresh start." He pleaded to her. They both had their own reasons for wanting to do their own things.

"What if you die? If you die here, your family won't even get your body. Then it'd be the end for you and your family! Don't you see?" Player 1 asked him.

"Don't get fucking scared! Ddakji, Red Light, Green Light, Spinning Top! It's not like the games are that difficult. Look. There are still 255 players. Way more than half of us survived! We've made it this far, so let's do this one more time!" Yeongsam shouted and I was on his side.

"You made such a good point, young man. Thats right! We've all survived the games well and survived until now! Now, let's play one more game! Just one more, and that's it. Let's play just one more game!" Jeongdae shouted and I was glad more people were thinking this way.

"Yeah, let's okay one more!" Yeongsam shouted at us.

"One more game!" Jeongdae shouted.

"One more game!" We all started to chant. This was turning into a cult. Me and Se-Mi weren't saying anything. This wasn't what I wanted. It was 139 to continue to 116 wanting to leave.

"The results are 139 for O and 116 for X. Based on the majority vote, we'll proceed to the third game tomorrow. Thank you." The manager said and I looked around to my group. This was it. We had to do it. When meal time came. It wasn't as grand as yesterday.

"Thank you." I said to the masked man and I began to eat.

"What do you think the name will be?" She asked me and I looked at her.

"Last time it was tug of war, I don't know what it'll be this time." I said to her. I wasn't looking forward to what it could. Just as long as it wasn't the marbles again.

"Maybe it's different games to when you did it." She said to me and I looked at her and nodded.

"It must be. Which makes it harder to gain tactics for." I said to her. I just wanted one game I'd be able to do. As time went on, the lullaby music started to play.

"Lights out in ten minutes. Please prepare for bedtime." The PA said and I had a feeling I knew what was going to happen tonight. I went over to Se-Mi.

"Share my bed with me tonight." I said to her and she looked at me.

"Why?" She asked me.

"I have a feeling there's going to be an attack. It's the only way to make sure that you stay safe." I said to her and she looked at me.

"Nothings going to happen." She said to me and I looked at her.

"I've done this before. I know it will." I said to her and she looked at me believing me. That's when she followed me back to my bed. I was glad that she was staying with. I could protect her. Just like I did with Saebyeok that night. But not the night it mattered most. My only fault was that I'd fallen asleep this time. I couldn't stay awake. I was just hoping that Junho would find us soon. When the lights came on and the morning started. I looked at Se-Mi. She was sat up. She was okay. No one had died.

"The third game will begin momentarily. All players, please get out of bed and get ready. Let me repeat. The third game will begin momentarily. All players, please get out of bed and get ready." The PA said and that's when we we swathed heading to our team again.

"You were wrong about the attack last night." She said to me and I looked at her.

"I keep thinking everything's going to be the same again." I said to her and she looked at me with a smile.

"That's okay, you weren't deceiving me. I trust you Haneul." She said to me and she smiled at me. That's when we started on our way to the next game.

"Welcome to your third game. The game you will be playing is Mingle. Let me repeat. The game you will be playing is Mingle." The PA announced and this sounded easy. At least.

"Hey, we'll be mingling together. Doesn't that sound like so much fun?" Thanos said to us making Namgyu laugh. They were high again.

"All players, please step onto the center platform. When the game starts, the platform will begin to rotate, and you will hear a number. You must form groups of that size, go into the rooms and close the door within 30 seconds." The PA said ans that was easy enough. You just had to look around. Grab people. As long as we lived. "Let the game begin." The PA said move we were all on the platform. That's when it started to move. We were going to be dizzy. They were playing kids music as we spun. I felt like this might be the game I died at.
