soooo...i'm doing it here if y'all don't mind.

it's not often i sit down and talk trash about other people's roleplaying, but after you spend five years of the same-old same-old with the same group and then you play one high-level game, the flaws of your fellow players become exceedingly apparent.

first things first, all of this guy's characters have four similarities:

- their names are all in one way or another borrowed from a major franchise/a video game

- they're all "the special" in one way or another or they just have way too much going on (like one who was a catgirl, a kunoichi, a mage, a pirate and like three other things all at once)

- if they're not the hero type, they're just edgy. and for some reason, the edgy ones like twisting others' words

- all the guys speak one way and all the girls speak another way (like in phrasing and shit)

while he plays well and his turns are all well-written, his characters all feel the same when you dig to their cores. the guy never leaves his comfort zone. like...ever. and to be quite frank...it's just so bland looking through his entourage.

it just drives me up the wall how this guy won't just let one of his characters be a normal human with no special abilities who only carries his own weight...and doesn't attempt to be the character with the highest number of kills in a combat game. or doesn't try to help everyone even when they shouldn't have an in-character reason to.

and people wonder why i want to make a game whose sole purpose is to force people out of their comfort zones.

because let's face it, i'm sure he wants to play with his strongest suit, but it's no fun when you've played with the same guy for five years and you've just been staring at the same bunch of characters with little to no change or OOC development shown between titles.

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh it just...i know i shouldn't be talking shit about someone like this but i feel like i'm pretty justified, especially when he keeps trying to take the plot in his own direction leading to everyone wrestling for control of the scene at hand because he apparently doesn't want to let anyone else have their moments together

that's about it. if i say anything more, i'm probably going to explode, especially after all the technical difficulties i had yesterday that had me angered.
