The Return of Pittoo- A Kid Icarus Fan Fiction Story
Palutena, goddess of light, was busy making breakfast for herself and her angel Pit one morining when she heard a horrible thud somewhere in her temple. It was looking beautiful that morning; the sun shone through the windows and it made the statue at the top shine brilliantly.
"OUCH! MY WING! LADY PALUTENA!" Pit's voice came from his room.
"Pit! Are you okay?" said Palutena, coming into Pit's room. Pit had fallen out of bed and landed on his wing. "Oh Pit. Did you have another nightmare?" said Lady Palutena, helping Pit to his feet. Pit had been having the same recurring nightmare for just over a week now. Pit dreamt that something brought Hades back after Pit defeated him about two months ago. Hades had been a nightmare in real life, but the nightmares Pit was having seemed worse than Hades in reality. They really scared Pit to death.
Over breakfast Pit told Palutena all about the nightmare. However, Pit did not tell her how Pittoo had been in the dreams too. In the nightmares, Pit could hear his dark twin Pittoo calling for help. And it was funny, because he hadn't seen Pittoo for about.... When was the last time Pit saw Pittoo? The last time was a day before the nightmares started! When Pit thought about it, the nightmares seemed real. He didn't forget them like you usually do with dreams. You might remember the general events that happened, but you don't remember every single individual detail. With Pit's nightmares, it was different. Pit remembered how Hades would say, "Knock knock! Guess who's back from the dead! You can't tell me you've forgotten your old pal Hades! Oh Pitty-Poo, do let's talk!" And then Hades would just let himself into the temple, and then everything would go dark. Pit would then hear a voice in the darkness. It was always the voice of Pittoo. He would say, "Pit! I need you help! You saved me from the Chaos Kin. I saved you from dying by bringing you to the Rewind Spring. Help me! HELP ME! HEEELLLLppp mee............" The voice would fade. Then Pit would wake up, trying to find Pittoo, and then realise it was just a dream.
Palutena later suggested that Pit go see the goddess of sleep, Hypnotica. While her brother Hypnos was also a god of sleep, Hypnotica was the goddess of waking and dreaming. Palutena said she'd help Pit fly to the temple of sleep. Pit was a flightless angel, so Palutena gave him the Power of Flight. It could only work for about five minutes at a time, but that was usually enough to get Pit from A to B.
The way to the temple was riddled with monsters. Pit thought this was strange, as he'd beaten Hades and the Underworld forces. So where were these ones coming from? They were definately Underworld monsters. Monoeyes, Ornes, Reapers... They had all been monsters Hades had created from the souls of the humans dying in wars.
The temple was covered in swirly patterns. In front of it were two statues. One statue was of Hypnos, the other was Hypnotica. "Good luck!" called Palutena through Pit's mind. Then she sent Pit in. Pit made his way through the grounds of the temple. He walked up to the door of the temple. It was a huge stone door with a giant swirl on it. The swirl spun, and the door opened. Inside the temple, the sleep gods' angel Kira was waiting. She was in a golden gown, and her golden wings seemed to shine in the sunlight that was streaming through the doorway.
"Ah, you have come Pit. I had a vision telling of your visit. You want to see Hypnotica I presume?" said Kira.
"Uh, yeah, if she's not too busy. I mean, I live with Lady Palutena and I know how busy it can be being a god," said Pit, blushing. Kira was cute, he thought.
Palutena said in Pit's mind, "Awwww, how cute! Pit and Kira, sitting in a tree..." Pit groaned. Palutena said, "Just messing with you Pit. You're so fun to tease."
Pit suddenly remembered why he was there and looked up at Kira, still blushing. She hadn't heard Pit and Palutena talking to each other through their minds.
"No, no. Hypnotica gets visitors sometimes. Mostly for dream reading and such like. She's just through here," Kira said. She led Pit through a door and pushed him through.
The room was beautiful. There were white curtains on the windows, and a woven rug on the floor. A crystal table sat in the middle of the room. On top of it was a crystal ball on a cushion and two vases. Each vase held a single white flower. Hypnotica's chair was white with swirls all over it. Hypnotica sat with her eyes shut. "Ahhhhh... Pit... You've come..." she said in a soft, soothing voice. She sounded like she was just waking up after a long sleep. "I know whyyyyyy you have come... Your nightmares....are no ordinary nightmares...And Pittooooo...he is calling for help... These are no ordinary dreams, my child. They are visions sent by Pittooooo.... He needs help, yet he cannot physically calllll... That is allllllllll...." And with that, the goddess went to sleep. Pit thought, That is one weird goddess. Then he exited Hypnotica's room. Palutena beamed him back to her temple.
Pit told Palutena what Hypnotica had said while they ate lunch. "Well, Pit. I think we should investigate. All the monsters are worrying me too. I think we are going to have to visit the Underworld, but we'll save that for tomorrow.
The next day Pit got ready to go into the Underworld. When he was ready, he flew out. Palutena said that they should follow the monsters, and sure enough the monsters seemed to be coming from Medusa's old palace. "Ugh, not this place again. Don't tell me Medusa's back to cause more trouble," said Pit
"Yes, Medusa was quite a nuisance," said Palutena.
She flew Pit into the palace. He saw lots of statues of Hades and the whole place looked totally different to how it had when he had visited it last time to slay Medusa. Pit walked down a long hallway, and eventually he came to a throne room. And guess who was sitting on Medusa's old throne? Hades, Lord of the Underworld. And Pittoo was standing in front of him, facing the way Pit had come. But Pittoo looked... different. He looked like a cross between a vampire and a zombie angel. He didn't look like a regular angel anyway, what with the black wings, the black tunic, the black hair, the black everything, which is not traditional for angels.
Hades stood up. "Well, nice to see you again, Pitty Pat. I've been having a bit of fun with your little twin while I was waiting for you. Why don't you two have a little fun here while I just... get changed. I wasn't expecting you so soon." Hades went out through a big door at the back of the room. Pittoo suddenly charged at Pit. "For Lord Hades! I will slay you here and now, you copycat! How dare you steal the look of Hades' most loyal servant! I AM DARK PITTOO!" yelled Pittoo.
"Wait, I thought you hated being called Pittoo." That was all Pit could say, as he quickly dashed out of the way of Pittoo, who was trying to stab him.
"Hmph, think you're clever, do you? Well, that won't help you here! Now surrender and bow down to Dark Pittoo!"
Pit and Pittoo were locked in a fierce battle. Pittoo charged. Pit dodged. Pit attacked. Pittoo jumped and took flight. "Lady Palutena! I need to fly!" called Pit. But he'd used the Power of Flight already, and he wouldn't be able to use it for a while. Besides, Pit really didn't want to hurt Pittoo. He just wanted to save Pittoo from this madness. It was like the Chaos Kin saga all over again. But Pittoo was under Hades' control. Then it hit him. How had Hades resurrected himself anyway? He was the god of the Underworld. He was the one who could bring people- and gods- back to life.
Suddenly, Pit felt the ground tremble. "It's an earthquake! I can't fly! This place is going to crumble on me! I'm finished! I'M FINISHED!" Pit cried, before he blacked out.
Pit awoke in the grounds of where the castle used to be. Palutena then told him that because of Hades, Pittoo's and someone else's power combined, she couldn't fully extract him however she could get him out of the castle.
"But who else is adding their power?" said Pit, puzzled. Actually, come to think of it, he thought, where did the castle go? There was a sudden flash of lightning, and for a minute Pit thought it might be Phosphora, for some strange reason, because he always thought of her when he saw lightning. But it was not Phosphora. Not by a long shot. It was the giant form of a god.
"Oh good, little Pitty has finally realized that someone else is involved. Now stare up at me, the mistress of magic, the professor of potions, Skyworld's resident hex-pert, THE GODDESS GREATER THAN THE REST, THE ONE WITH THE POWER TO DO ANYTHING SHE LIKES,
THE ONE, THE ONLY...
HECATE!!!!!!!!!!"
"What was that lot about???" said Palutena. "Wait, Hecate! So Hades... and the dreams... and Pittoo... that was you, Hecate?" said Palutena, shocked. Hecate was wearing a black cloak, a black witch's hat, big black boots, long black gloves and a creepy pendant that gave Pit the heebie-jeebies whenever he looked at it. She was holding a silver staff with a pitch black gem in the middle of it. It looked like just a weak spell from that thing could kill Pit with one shot, and a couple more would probably take out a god, too. "Now, my fine servant, Pittoo. You have done well. But I can't be bothered taking this insignificant little boy out. Would you mind?" The creepy pendant flashed and Pittoo suddenly flew in and knocked Pit out of the air!
"PIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTT!!!!!!" called Palutena. Time and time again she tried to extract him but it was no use, he was falling too fast.
SPLASH!!! Pit hit the sea. Poseidon, who had seen everything, quickly called some sharks to catch him. He'd fallen down to earth, out of Skyworld. Poseidon's sharks carried Pit safely to land, where Palutena quickly extracted him.
Wet, tired and aching all over, Pit arrived back at Palutena's temple. Pit went straight to bed. Palutena later brought Pit some dinner in bed, and that made him feel a bit better.
The next day Palutena and Pit talked.
"Now we know who's behind all this, the resurrection of Hades, Pittoo's mind being controlled, your nightmares, and everything, we need a plan," said Palutena.
"Tell me more about Hecate," said Pit.
"Hecate is the goddess of magic. As you've probably worked out, you can do pretty much anything you can think of with magic. You name it, it's possible with magic. So of course, being the goddess of magic, you've basically got any wish granted. That's why Hecate was sealed up in her own dimension of magic. When the word got out that she wasn't on the side of good, the gods sealed her in there. The one thing she couldn't do was to escape. That is, unless enough gods die. You see, each god was made to add his or her power to the portal, to make it stronger and stronger, so that it was even stronger than any of Hecate's spells or powers. But, kill a god and the spell weakens. Each individual god's powers keep that portal sealed. So, when Medusa, Thanatos and Hades were killed, because they are all quite powerful gods, a huge chunk of the spell came undone when they died. Hecate is so powerful, every single god had to add their power in to the spell in order to be sure that Hecate could not escape. Now there is only one option."
"Uh, what's that?" said Pit, who was still trying to process all that Palutena had told him.
"We have to get Chronos, Lord of Time, on our side." said Palutena grimly.
"Chronos?! You mean the one whose very existance is the only thing keeping time going? That Chronos?" said Pit.
"Yeah, that Chronos." replied Palutena.
