Chapter Two: Welcome To Hetalia
"What do you mean 'go back to Hetalia'? I thought you hated that place." Toris, Alfred's roommate, said as he watched Alfred pack some stuff into a duffle bag. "Believe me. I never pictured I would be going back after I left but my friends need me." Alfred said as he zipped up the duffle bag before hoisting it over his shoulder.
"I know that but is it really worth it? From what you've told me and the others that place sounds like hell." Toris commented watching Alfred put the duffle bag back on his bed then he turned to face the Lithuanian. "Toris. It is hell. Worse than hell even but my well being of my friends out weights whatever I went through there." Alfred said looking at Toris with a small smile.
Toris sighed knowing there was nothing he could do to change his friend's mind. While Toris was reluctant to let Alfred go back to the place that had caused him so much pain, he knew the American was stubborn as all hell so there was really no point in arguing. "Fine. Just be careful, okay? Promise me you'll be careful." Alfred rolled his eyes at Toris but he was smiling.
"I promise. Now can I go, Mom?" Alfred asked sarcastically earning a smack on the head from the Lithuanian. "Don't call me that. Also what are you going to tell the others?" Toris asked curiously. Alfred was getting his bomber jacket that was a gift from his foster father from a nearby chair when he turned around and gave Toris a too innocent smile.
"That's where you come in, my dude. You're going to them that I decided to go visit my family for the weekend." Toris's jaw dropped at the American's words. Most of the people in their friend group knew about Hetalia and Alfred's past with it. They were also very protective of Alfred because it. So Alfred had the brilliant idea to leave him to the news to their overprotective friends.
"Oh no, you're not leaving me with this—" Alfred didn't wait for Toris to finish his sentence before he grabbed his jacket, duffle bag, and motorcycle keys and ran out of the room at lightning speed. Toris felt his eye twitch as he sighed. Alfred was really great friend but he could also be really annoying if he put his mind to it.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have landed at our destination. Please exit as directed and thank you for flying with Southwest Airlines."
Alfred took deep breathe as he rose from his seat. The plane ride had been long but Alfred had slept for most of it so that was good. The blonde haired man walked to the entrance of his isle before reaching up into the overhead bin and pulling out his duffle bag. He swung the bag over his shoulder then exited the plane as directed.
Alfred looked around the airport for a moment observing his surroundings before he tried to find an exit. The big, glowing word in large letters caught his eye. E-X-I-T filled Alfred's vision and he smiled happy that it wouldn't take him forever to find the exit. Alfred stepped out of the airport taking a second to take a deep of the fresh air that greeted him.
It had been awhile since he had been back so he wasn't used to smelling clean, fresh air in the place of normally polluted city air. Alfred was pulled out of his thoughts by a car horn. Alfred looked straight ahead only to see some he hadn't seen in a long, long time. "Hercules!" Alfred exclaimed running towards the man before throwing his arms around the Greek in a hug like fashion.
Hercules smiled fully accepting the sudden display of affection. "Hello, Alfred. It's nice to see you again." Hercules said as the American hugged him tightly. It was nice to know that in the three years they hadn't seen each that Alfred had his lack of personal space issues. "It's been so long. How've you been? How's Gal? Oh my god, am I too late. Wait! If you're here then who's with Gal? Is she-" Alfred was cut off mid ramble when Hercules pressed a finger to his lips.
"Gal is fine right now. She is with her mother so I could come pick you up." Hercules explained taking his finger off Alfred's surprisingly soft lips when he felt Alfred pout. "At least she's not alone." Alfred grumbled causing the Greek man to chuckle lightly. "Come on. Let's get going before it gets dark." Alfred nodded and Hercules gestured to his 1987 Chevrolet Camaro which made Alfred laugh.
"You still have this old thing?" Alfred teased before climbing into the passengers side of the car. Hercules huffed before going around to climb into the drivers side. "Don't diss my Camaro. This 'old thing' drove your ass to and from school for a year." Hercules pointed out which made Alfred shove him slightly. "Yeah, Yeah, I know." Alfred said as his friend started the car and they began driving.
They sat in silence for about a solid minute when Alfred broke it. "So, does anyone know that I'm visiting?" Alfred asked gazing the Greek who shook his head. "No, I wanted it to be a surprise for Gal. No one knows besides me and you." Hercules admitted not taking his eyes off the road in front of him. "Good. It's better that way. I wouldn't want to anyone I don't want to see." Alfred said turning his gaze towards the window by him.
Soon tall building became small houses and small became trees. Alfred watched the world go by unaware that Hercules was looking at him from out of the corner of his eye. To Hercules, Alfred hadn't changed much in terms of personality but looks were an entirely different story. Back when Alfred lived in Hetalia, he was skinny from lack of food since his father would starve him on a daily basis.
Now he was muscular (Hercules had felt the muscles when they had hugged back at the airport and had resisted the urge to blush). His blonde hair was brighter and slightly shorter than back when they were kids. His blue eyes still retained their innocence in spite of all they had witnessed though they seemed to shine more.
Alfred's signature glasses sat on his nose looking more well put together than last time Hercules had seen them. The jocks of their high school had made it a game to snatch Alfred's glasses off his face and break them in half. This lead to Alfred having to his them back together with tape most of the time.
Time had been good to Alfred for a change which made Hercules smile. He and Mizrahi may not have been able to go with Alfred when he left but that didn't mean they didn't want to. It would have been nice to get out of Hetalia though he had his mother to worry about.
"Hercules? Hercules!" The Greek snapped out of his thoughts when Alfred waved his hand in front of his face. "What?" Hercules said dumbly blinking. "You okay dude?" Alfred asked causing the brunette man to blush in embarrassment. "Yes, I'm fine. Just a little tired." Hercules admitted. He had been Gal's side since she was admitted into the hospital so he didn't get much sleep as of late.
"I remember you used to sleep a lot in high school so since you're ignoring sleeping for Gal, I know it must be bad." Alfred said looking at Hercules concerned. "Yeah it is. Anyway, looks like we're here." Hercules pointed at a sign to their right. Alfred gulped when he saw the sign. Alfred never dreamed that he would be back but here was he was.
The sign said 'Welcome To Hetalia: the most diverse town in America'. Alfred didn't even bother to resist the urge to snort. They weren't as inclusive as they thought they were. "Are you ready for this?" Hercules asked as he started to slowly drive again. "Yeah." Alfred replied. He was more than ready for this. Hercules nodded and without further delay the duo continued their way past the gates of hell into hell itself.
