Darkness (Rewritten)

Where... am I?

Frisk awoke with a startled gasp, sitting up as she rubbed her temple. She frowned, groaning softly as she scanned her surroundings

Wait...

I know this place.

Frisk paled.

It was the void.

"Høw ãŕė ýôů fèęĺíņğ?"

Gaster stood before her, voice still as distorted as betore. Frisk sighed, fiddling with the ends of her shirt.

"Can you bring me back?" Her words were solemn.

There was a brief moment of silence. She fidgeted anxiously, before Gaster nodded, a single sharp jerk of his head. He almost seemed reluctant.

But Frisk only brightened at his answer, eyes glimmering with hope. "Please bring me back!"

Gaster sighed."Ìť'ś ñóť śô šìmþłě, ďeaŕ. Wiťh țhè timęłinè alreaďý thìs chìpped, ťhèý mìģhț ŕèmèmbèŕ, àńđ țhè țìmèĺìñè wìĺļ hàvè moŕè àñď mòrè èŕřòŕš èàćh țìmè ýòù ďìè."

A pause.

Frisk waited for him to continue, feeling dread settle in her gut. She had a feeling she would not like his next words.

"Woŕsț càśe scènařiø? Chara còmès bàçķ."

Frisk flinched. That wouldn't be good atl all. This was all so difficult.

But Gaster seemed oblivious to her dilemma, for he summined the reset button. Frisk could only watch on in dread, catching sight of the glitched edges of the button.

The timeline really was falling apart.

But...

She had to go. She had to see him again.

"I'll be extra careful this time. Please."

And just like that, Gaster could only watch as Frisk's hand slammed down on the rest button, her eyes determined and filled with a promise.

"I SEE, BROTHER. SO THAT WAS WHY YOU WANTED TO... COMMIT TREASON. TO HELP THAT... HUMAN."

Papyrus stared at the crumpled heap before them with a new understanding, but Sans only looked away, defeated.

"It's not like it matters anyway. She's gone."

And they both could hear his unspoken words.

It's because of you.

You killed her.

His sweetheart was gone, all within a single moment, with a single attack. She was dead again and it was all his fau—

A single cough.

Sans froze, just as Papyrus tensed. "IS THAT...?"

Frisk peeked open a single eye, dazed as she sat up. It almost felt like deja vu.

And then, she stared straight into red eyes, wide in disbelief. "Miss me?" She smiled.

Sans crumpled, running straight into open arms and as he pressed a light kiss to Frisk's temple.

"Please don't leave me again, sweetheart. Please."

Frisk could only hug him tighter.
