#25: Pinky promise, I won't leave you, moti.

"Sweetheart, are you fine?" That distressed filled eyes were staring at her blank ones.

Again I was gifted with silence, her condition was worse than me. "Jaan you're scaring me up, please speak something." I pleaded but still, there was no response, the thing which was troubling me more was her emotionless eyes.

At that moment I heard some whispers and within a second, the door was opened. There stood Sara, she was baffled after a piece of information Raghav might have given her. As he too stood behind her, followed by Navya and Shehnaaz.

"Buddy, I tried to stop her but she didn't listen to me." Raghav shrugged his shoulder, while Sara's eyes were fixed on the person on my lap. She walked towards us and finally stood beside the bed.

"Sa...anaa..." She stuttered, staring at Sana. She was dumbfounded, as time and again she was glimpsing at Sana and Shehnaaz. Trying hard to register what she was seeing was for real not her imagination. She rubbed her eyes, "is it for real? It meant that Shehnaaz and Sana were two different people?" She grinned looking at me, "damn! man." She facepalmed herself after realizing it.

"Wow! That means Raghav will get his love and Sid his, I am so happy." She jumped in enthusiasm, "Neetu di! Preeti di! Mom!" Yelling she moved out of the room, I shook my head soon this news was going to spread.

I gazed at Sana who was still mum, what was wrong with her? "Do you really know her?" Shehnaaz raised a question, "Are you her Kullu?" A hope underlying in her voice also had a hint of sadness.

I gave her a node, "how do you know about it?" I asked her out.

"The only word that came out from her mouth from the past years." Navya had a painful smile, "she used to only murmur Kullu." That made me peep at Sana once again. I hate this look on her face, I wanted her smile back.

"Why is she not speaking a word? What had happened to her? Why is her condition such?" So many questions raised in my mind and the answer only the three people knew who was standing in front of me.

"She had stopped speaking from the day we brought her back. The only word that came out was, Kullu. We had the least knowing who the Kullu was, we questioned her about her disappearance but she didn't speak a word." Shehnaaz wept speaking it out, Raghav held her through her shoulder to give her comfort.

"You might remember, of me mentioning my heartbreak?" Navya inquired, and I gave a node.  "It had a deep impact on me, I had turned all gloomy. So to cheer me up, Shehnaaz came with an idea for a trip to India. We were curious to know what India was like, after hearing from Papa Gill often enough. We were Indian but never visited it, so planned the trip. Shehbaaz had some different plan so he didn't join us, but Shehnaaz took this an opportunity to take Sana along with us. But if we mentioned it to others none would allow, so we kept it hidden from all except Shehbaaz." Navya stated the facts, slowly things made sense.

"What am I just hearing? Is Sana different from Shehnaaz!" Neetu di exclaimed as she entered in. That made Sana clutched my shirt with her hand, the first response from her. She had shut her eyes in fear.

"Di!" She clutched tighter this time, realizing it I soften my voice. "Stop yelling, she is getting scared." I scowled her and Neetu di shut her mouth.

"I had been screaming that too," Preeti di criticized her. Entering inside followed by mom and Sara.

"Is it true that you have a twin sister?" Mom inquired staring at Shehnaaz and then looking at the girl on my lap. At that moment embarrassment swept through me, I knew it was not the first time she saw her in my lap but still. She was my mom, and you did feel shy in front of them.

Mom was least bothered with it, she simply made her way towards me. Her eyes fixed on the girl and soon it got delighted on revealing it to be Sana. She too was in a big dilemma as for her both were her son and she won't be gratified on seeing any of us heartbroken. She slowly stroked Sana's hair, her eyes were brimming with tears.

"How are you beta?" That concerned filled eyes staring at her who had closed her eyes due to the yelling.

"Mom she is just scared with the yelling, she will be fine." I blinked my eyes at mom who smiled.

"Neetu saw what you did! I have been warning you." Preeti di scowled at her.

"But I got excited about knowing it, how much had I turned depressed on knowing that moti and Shehnaaz was the same person. I won't be able to enjoy Mehendi nor any function but somehow things sorted out. Now I can fully enjoy Raghav's marriage." Neetu di beamed glancing at Raghav who gave a glare.

"Oh! So that means everyone over here knew about moti. The only person who was least aware of her was me." He frowned at me, "I thought that you didn't want to share about her but I didn't know that you didn't want to share about her specifically to me. You call me your buddy, is this what buddy does? And you, Sara don't you know that I am your bro? I know you always consider Sid over me and I don't have any issues regarding it but you didn't share such a big thing about him? Why? Even you both?" He stared at both of the sisters, "I least expected this from you and mom. You all considered me a stranger." He choked and moved from there, I knew that our action had hurt him.

I wanted to follow Raghav to pacify him but I also wanted to stay behind with Sana. Preeti di understood my dilemma as she blinked her eyes, following him.

"I knew my brother was an emotional fool but didn't know to such an extent." Sara rolled her eyes for which the environment turned happy once again. "Did that day you found her in Delhi?" Sara questioned them for which Navya nodded.

"We had switched our cell off as we landed in India so that we could enjoy our trip. We had all set to leave after a week of the journey when we found Sana went missing." Navya started narrating the past event.

###

We had come to the railway station in Delhi as Sana was all excited to see it. She compelled us to show the interior of the train and we did that too. When the train was going to leave, we got out of it. Sana was not willing to leave but somehow we got her down. She started wailing so Shehnaaz went to buy some chocolate to cheer her up. I was left behind to take care of her, it was getting hard to handle her up. She saw a balloon and started yelling for it.

I gazed at the surroundings but I was not able to see Shehnaaz anywhere near. And as Sana was continuously yelling, I went to buy the ballon. Warning her to stay there, when I returned back Sana was not present in her place.

We kept on searching her in the entire platform asked many people but we didn't know where she was. We even complained to the police but didn't get any clue of her, neither of us had the courage to call and inform about Sana missing to the family. It was our fault that we brought her along with us. If by any chance anyone got to know, they might never forgive us. And finally, we had lost all the hope when she turned to us.

After exactly ten days from her missing. We had come to search in the market area when I heard a familiar voice calling me out. First I underestimate it to be Shehnaaz as they have the same voice but a slight variation in it which hardly comes into notice. And when I turned, I found Sana following me. I was stunned to find her as to be genuine I had lost hope.

###

"Oh! So when Sid left her in that car, to buy her chocolate. She saw you in the market and followed you up." Neetu di spoke, "that how she turned to you."

"From there Navya brought her to meet me, I too was present in the market. I still remember she was talking about Kullu. She was telling me that she wants to go to him, we had the least idea about whom she was uttering. And she was not so mature enough who easily trusted others. Somehow convincing her and promising her that we will be back to Kullu. We took her along with us, throughout the journey she was groaning to meet her Kullu." Shehnaaz spoke staring at me as I was crushing my fate for all the mess.

"And then Navya called Raghav informing that you both are fine but if Raghav knew that you both are missing then he might be knowing that Sana too was. Then why didn't even once he mentioned your sister missing too?" Sara question, the same thing going in my mind.

"Because the existence of Sana is hidden from the world." Came a harsh voice from the entrance and there stood his father, Mr Gill along with his son. I realized that Sana again tightens her grip on my shirt. I squeezed her hand assuring her that everything was fine. "What are you all doing over here?" He plastered a smile staring at mom, Neetu di, and Sara. "I had told you that no one will disturb Sana, right?" He glared at Shehnaaz.

He fumed seeing Sana on my lap, I looked at Sana who had still clutched my shirt in her fist. I tried to lose it but her grip was tight. "Baby don't be afraid it's your dad." I tried to soothe her but she has shut her eyes and was slowly leaning in my chest. I caressed her hair, that was not appreciated by her father. He was shooting me with deadly glares.

"We just got to hear about your other daughter so we came to meet her. I apologize if you didn't like it." Mom apologized to him for which he gave a fake smile.

"It not like that aunty, actually my sister is mentally unfit so she might behave in a way which you all might not relish. Papaji was just frightened regarding it, he doesn't want any hurdle to come between in Shehnaaz marriage." Shehbaaz spoke, giving a smile.

"If her condition is such then she deserves a happy surrounding. I am a doctor and know what such patience carves for, making her stay in such a suffocating place will make her condition worse. They are just like a child and we should treat them like it." Sara stared at the surrounding, she was kept in a small room, depriving her of freedom as the room was deprived of the sunlight.

"It's not we who had deprived her of the surrounding, it's she herself. She hates human presences around her and loves darkness surrounding her." Spoke Mr Gill whose eyes were fixed on me during the entire conversation.

"Why?" I asked showing concerned.

"Could be better answered by the person who is responsible for it." He looked away, fisting his hand in anger as if controlling it. "Can you please move out of the room, Sana will be needing some rest."  He was requesting us but my heart was not ready to leave.

Neetu di was going to open her mouth but mom holds her wrist, signalling her to stop. "Sid, we think we should leave. There is a lot of arrangement left for Mehendi ceremony." She pleaded me through her eyes, I gave in.

I loosen Sana's grip on my shirt, murmuring something in her ear. "Moti, I will come soon but now I will have to leave." With that she let go of my shirt, I slowly made her sit on the bed. She still was not making eye contact with me. My heart was feeling restless as a fear that I might lose her again enveloped in it.

Kal Shayaad Ye Aalam Na Rahe

I won't let it happen, I would stand firm against any hurdle which would try to separate her from me. "Pinky promise, I won't leave you, moti." With that, I lock my tiny finger with hers, that particular moment she met her eyes with mine.
