#12: How do you know about the ring?
"I can't mom, I can't." I shattered down in my mom's arm.
She slowly caressed my hair, "beta you have to. This was the path you have chosen for yourself, now you can't back off. You need to be strong." She was trying to propel me, she knew that I needed it at the moment.
I broke the hug and looked at her, brushing off her tears. She cupped my face, wiping off my tears. "I know it's tough, why you just..." she halted. She knew she was turning out selfish, she wanted to see her son happy. As the realization hit her, she shut her mouth.
"I can't mom, you know I can't tell it to Raghav, he will back off and I don't want him to do that. He already withstood a lot at an early age, lost his parents. He has only us in his life, I can't take his happiness away. He went to Canada as India remind him, of his parents. He found his love.." I choked as those words came out of me, "he had fallen for her and she did too. I can't come in between, I can't." Bolting those tears in.
"What about you?" An enraged voice and we both looked at the source. "What about you, Sid? I nor mom can see you like this." Sara was standing there, furious. "What had you made of yourself? You were already damaged soul, and she crashed you more. I am not blaming her, but you can't deny the fact that she is reliable for this."
"Sara does not forget that she was mentally unstable. And being a doctor, you know it much better than me. She had fully forgotten her memory of those ten days." Her words infuriated me, I know she was anxious for me but she couldn't accuse Shehnaaz of it.
"Those ten days gave you wound beyond repair." She said dryly, and I stared at her blankly.
"Can we stop the debate, I am not in a mood." I scowled at her.
"Sid!..." Sara would defend, but she glanced at mom and shut her mouth. "Mom, I was here to call you up. Shehnaaz's mom was asking you up and Raghav was asking about Sid." She narrowed her eyes at me.
"I am coming," Mom massaged my biceps, standing up. I blinked my eyes assuring her that I was fine. She moved out and Sara would follow her, but I called her out and she stopped in her track.
"Sara!" She turned and gave me a grim look. I just rolled my eyes, "what the matter with the ring?" She stared at me, puzzled.
"Ring?" she paused for a minute. "Yeah, Shehnaaz asked me to keep the other ring in the box present in the bag. As we might land into trouble as a backup plan." She said as a matter of fact.
I just stared at her, amazed. Shehnaaz surprised me every single time. The way she maturely handled the situation, in the conversation with her mother and brother. And then coming to know about her backup plan. This girl was something else from the Sana I knew. She was a kid but Shehnaaz was a mature girl but still, my over-thinker mind was pushing me to think something was skeptical, but what?
"Why there were two rings in the bag?" Sara asked, staring at me suspiciously.
"Raghav selected one and another one by me," I informed her.
"The rose one by you?" She inquired and I node, she might have got to know it seeing Raghav grinning face on seeing the ring. "So Shehnaaz liked your ring, and you had brought it for her." She beamed at me but I gave her whatever look.
"How does it matter?" I spoke hastily.
"It does Sid, that means if you had come in her life before Raghav then she might have fallen for you. If she might have recollected that ten days, she might not be committing with the bro." She was sounding astounded at her logic, I just gave her a disbelief look.
"Sara you're forgetting that Raghav is your brother and Shehnaaz is going to marry him soon. Not to forget he loves her, how could such a thought even come to your mind?" I shook my head.
"Because I think it just attraction from Shehnaaz's side, she doesn't feel for him. I have seen her affection towards you in those 10 days, how can I forget it?" She blurted out in annoyance.
"That is what you want, not what you think." I voiced out the fact, "you're a girl and no one can understand a girl than a girl herself. That blush on her face on seeing Raghav complimenting her, that giggling when Raghav whispered something in her ears, that gratified face on seeing how beautiful that ring looked on her finger said it all." With each word, I was shattering down. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, "I need some space." I whimpered I could feel her gaze but soon she left me alone.

### Past ###
I had given our clothes to the laundry staff, to clean up our clothes and after it was done. We made our way back to our destination. And reached Mumbai on the night of the next day, I got a call of Sara on my way and had informed her about Sana coming to Mumbai. I had mentioned her not to inform mom, as I would do it myself.
I halt my car in front of my house, looked at the passenger seat. She was sleeping; I smiled. This journey had tried her to the core. I stared at her with a gloomy face, I had to wake her up. "Sana baby gets up, we reached," I called her out, but she was in deep slumber.
I shook my head, got up from the car. I moved towards her direction and opened the door. "Moti," I muttered, but no response from the other side. Not wanting to disturb her sleep, I carried her in my arms in bridal style. The security guard was gazing at be been baffled. It was the first time I had brought a girl home.
"Just park the car properly and hand me back the key," I ordered him and he nodded making his way towards the car.
I moved towards my house; I had a key in my hand but was finding it difficult to put in a keyhole as I had carried Sana but after a lot of attempts, I finally turned out successful. I moved inside kicking the door, made Sana lay on the sofa. At that moment guard handed me the keys and moved out. I locked the door behind him.
I made my way towards the kitchen and drank water from the refrigerator. At the moment my cell vibrated, I removed the phone from the pocket. And the person calling me was Raghav, I got anxious. He never calls me so late, it was 2 at night but for him four-thirty but still. As he was staying in Canada but he never disturbed me so late.
"Hello!" I sounded impatient. Was everything fine?
"Hello! Sid, why didn't you inform me? Here I was so lost with my problems not for once I asked about you. I am so sorry Sid." He was sounding regretful, probably Sara informed him. This Sara can't ever keep things to herself.
"Raghav calms down, I am perfectly fine and back to Mumbai." I tried to calm him down, "and what about Shehnaaz did you found her?" I asked peeping at Sana who was sleeping on the sofa an adorable smile on her face, unknowingly a smile came on mine.
"We are trying to find and along with her..." he was going to speak something when someone called him out. "Sid, police is calling me out will talk to you some other time." With that, he hanged the call. I kept my cell back into my pocket and moved towards Sana, again carry her in my arms I moved towards the bedroom. I couldn't leave her alone in a room, as she needed a constant person beside her to look after her.
That thought crossed my mind, I began thinking about who would take her care in my absence. I slightly push the door by my arms, which made Sana moan in her sleep, I murmured sorry. How easily I was apologizing to her, I chuckled on my own thought.
I carefully made her lay down on my bed, adjusting the pillow and covered her with the quilt. I moved towards the wardrobe and removed some clothes from it. That moment I realized that my bag was still in my car, thinking to bring it tomorrow. I made my way towards the washroom, locked it. And got into the shower, pulling my clothes off and hanging the towel and other clothes on the towel bar.
The day turned out to be blissful with her been my companion. With that thought, a smile crossed my lip. Her that nonstop, meaningless blabbers gave me so much peace. But as the thought crossed my mind that once her parents would be found she would leave. The second day of the meet and I was already connected with her. This was something astonishing for me as I never got connected with people easily.
I moved out of my shower and getting into my clothes, moved out of the washroom. Lay on the other side of the bed, switching the lap off.
//
The sun rays fall on my eyes, making me awake. I rubbed my eyes, cursing the sun. I got a ticklish feeling and when I opened my eyes slowly, I found Sana snuggling into me trying to hide from the sun rays. I beamed seeing her, I slowly caressed her hair.
She was hiding her face in my chest, trying to escape from those rays. "Baby gets up its already morning." I pecked her hair.
"Kullu, I want to sleep." She whined, I just chuckled. I knew it was going to come, she was tired and needed rest. My body too was shouting the same but I never took a leave after I started managing the company after my father left us.
"But do get up from me. I need to go to the office." I tried to pull her away.
"Office?" She sounded curious, "can I come too?" she stared at me with anticipation, moving away from me.
I nodded negatively, "you can't." I denied though I was feeling bad I knew that I couldn't take her along with me.
She frowned, "why?" tears brimming in her ears.
I cupped her face, "sweetheart I work over there and I can't take you along with me." Tried to convince her.
She jerked my hand away, "you too are like daddy. He too never takes me along with him." She whined and turned her face away from me. I stared at her for a second and then moved out of my bed.
I pulled out my professional clothes and moved towards the washroom. I could find her peeping from the quilt but I ignored it. I couldn't waste my one working day for her stubbornness but why my mood had turned off seeing her angry on me. Why was I feeling dishearten? Pushing the thought away I closed the washroom door.
//
After twenty minutes I moved out, glanced at Sana who had removed the quilt from her face but still had a sullen face. I tried my best to ignore her, she was staring at me. I moved towards the dressing table, took the wallet and wristwatch from it. I moved towards the side table, beside the bed where I had kept my cell. Her eyes not leaving me, finally giving up.
I dialed a number, "Simran cancel all the meeting. I won't come to the office." As those words came out of my mouth. Sana stood on the bed and directly jumped on me. I tried to hold her with my one hand as the other was holding the phone.
She wrapped her hand around my neck and her legs around my waist. She started giggling in happiness and kissed me on my cheek, I remained stunned for a second but the voice from my PA made brought me back.
"Are you there sir?"
"Do put all the meeting for tomorrow." Instructing her, I hanged the call. I threw the cell on the bed to hold her properly.
"Kullu you won't go to the office, you're best." She that again gifted me with one more kiss but this time on my nose and seeing my wide eyes, she giggled. And hugged me tightly, resting her head on my chest. I tighten my grip on her waist, with both my hands.
### Past end ###
I came out of my thoughts when I heard a knock on the door. I knew who the person would be. "Come in" I instructed.
Raghav stood there with a guilty face, I stared at him perplexed. Why was he guilty? "Can I disturb you, Sid?" He was asking for permission, this was so unlikely of him. Was he fine?
"From when you started asking permission from me? Raghav you have full right to disturb me." I smiled at him, he moved in and took a seat beside me.
"But I have no right to hurt you." I was startled what he meant by it? Did Sara tell him? No that can't be true.
"What you mean?" I got curious.
"You're here just because of me and going through the pain due to me. Why did I agree with this destination marriage to Chandigarh? Why didn't you neither Sara informed me before that you met your moti here? I am sorry, for all this. If you want you can leave I won't force you, I am really..." He folded his hand before me while I just slap his cheek slightly and pulled him into a hug.
"Now you will apologize to me? You are an idiot! you have the guts to do it." I gave a slight hit on his shoulder. He chuckled listening to it.
He pulled away from the hug, "are you fine?" He asked getting restless, I gave a slight nod. "Are you not upset about the ring too?" He asked me out, startling me up.
"How do you know about the ring?" I asked him out, been flabbergasted.
