Danger
"Do you feel it?" Gleeful whispered to Will during night. Both of them couldn't remain sleep, they knew there was something wrong going on, and none of them could figure out why.
"Yes" Will whispered back, trying his best not to wake up the kids. "T-there is something d-different"
"Yes, I know" Gleeful made a pause "don't be afraid" he said pulling his husband into a hug.
After so many years, Will had started feeling comfortable enough around Gleeful, which made him never ever stutter again, only when he was embarrassed or scared.
"I-I'm not afraid" he tried to convince himself.
"It's ok if you are"
"I-I... I am" he finally admitted, hiding his face in Gleeful's blue t-shirt. He could feel the energy better than anyone else, expect for maybe Bill. It was demon energy and he could tell it. He didn't know where it was coming from, or who was expelling it. He wasn't quite sure if it was knowing it or the lack of knowledge that was making him nervous.
"Let's go downstairs to talk" Gleeful said standing up. Will knew he had to go, but he didn't want to. He was afraid and didn't want to leave his bed so soon. He also knew he couldn't talk about something so serious around his children, they were only twelve. And his kids were always above any fear he might have had.
They slowly walked downstairs, trying not to wake up the other people in the house, though when they arrived at the kitchen, they realized all their care was in vain. Dipper Pines was already woken up, sitting in the chair staring at some notebooks, Bill was at his side, looking more concerned than he usually would. Mabel was staring at the window, like she was waiting for something or someone.
"You guys know it as well, right?" Gleeful asked entering the kitchen. Bill looked up to him and shook his head in agreement.
"Whatever it is, or better, whoever it is, it's no good" he made a pause "and I'm Bill Fucking Cipher, I literally tried to destroy the universe, and I am saying this shit ain't any good"
"O-oh no" Will whispered, he glanced at the stairs for some moments, thinking about the kids. Sleeping calmly at the room, not even imagining that. He knew Pines had told them about the coming danger, but they had no idea of how bad it was.
"It might be someone possessed" Pines concluded "by a demon or by a very powerful and never seen ghost"
"If it is a ghost" Gleeful interrupted "it has to be fill with revenge and the worst thoughts ever, nothing is that strong"
"Yes" Pines shook his head. "But if it is a demon, then..."
"It doesn't matter what it is, we are basically screwed anyways" Bill said gesticulating.
"Was that supposed to be comforting?" Mabel asked, finally opening her mouth to speak, but not taking her eyes and attention out of the window. She had never been so worried and insecure in her life. Not even when they had to fight Bill Cipher to save the world, and they were just kids back then. Now, as an adult, she was feeling her heart beating faster, and it wasn't love, it was fear in its purest form.
"It wasn't supposed to be anything actually" Bill replied.
Pines looked up, stopping his glance at Will, he tried to give him a kind smile, but all that it was a sad and desperate attempt to make things feel better "maybe you should send Alex and Adalynn somewhere else"
"Y-yes" Will answered shaking his head to show how much he agreed with that.
"I'm not so worried about Adalynn, though" he continued "I know that if we tell her to remain somewhere safe, she will. But Alex is the main issue. He just won't obey anyone, right? And you can't separate twins"
"Alex is..." Gleeful tried to defend his kid, but Pines was correct. Alex wouldn't stay somewhere safe, he would go after the beast by himself, he would try to fight even if he knew he had no chance on winning. He would easily get killed cause of a silly reason. "We are sending them home" Gleeful concluded staring at Will "and... If you want to go as well"
"N-no" the blue-haired protested "I'm not l-leaving y-you here"
Before he could even say anything, his husband hugged him again, giving him another chance to hide his face and with it, hide his fear.
They all knew they couldn't help what was coming, it was unstoppable and they had to get ready for whatever danger was approaching them.
Fighting wasn't an issue to them, and surely wasn't something new or scary, but the insecurity and the lack of knowledge of what they would have to face was.
