Big Decision

"They're hiding something" Alex said out loud, jumping out of his bed and walking into the door's direction. Adalynn slowly woke up, not really wanting to do so, but did she even have a choice? Her brother started talking about nonsense things in the middle of the night, her parents weren't at the bedroom with them, and she was having a bad feeling about all of that situation. "Stay here, I'll spy a little"
"Why do I have to stay here anyways?" She whispered finally jumping out of her bed. "I want to spy as well"
"No, you stay here" Alex insisted.
"Why?"
"Because you might ruin everything and get us caught" he answered not actually caring about the tone of voice he was using. "If they are downstairs talking about hell knows what, in such a low voice and discreet way, they don't us to know. We can't get caught. Just stay here and don't ruin my plan, Adalynn, I'll tell you everything later" he slowly opened the door, careful not to make an audible sound and ruin the plan by himself.
"You promise?" She asked sitting in her bed.
"No, I don't. I don't promise anything" before she could even protest, Alex escaped her sight.
The boy had read enough books to know how spies behave, movies were also quite helpful to him, but he always preferred trusting the books. The books characters never got caught, therefore he would follow their actions.
He was glad he had took his black pajamas with him, it could easily get mixed with the darkness and he wouldn't be seen.
He hid himself in the living room, the whispers of the adults sounded like perfect screams in the middle of all the silence.
(Quick note: "father" is Gleeful; "dad" is Will)
"Is it in the woods?" He heard his father's voice ask.
"Yes" Pines answered. Alex immediately remembered what Pines had told them, there was something going on in the woods. The boy didn't believe it would be something serious, though that by the look of things, it was way more than just serious. "Are you sure none of you know anything about it?"
"I never saw anything like it" Bill said. Alex could even picture him gesticulating his hands and shaking his head.
"M-me neither" Alex's dad's voice said. The kid had never heard his dad stuttered before, although his father had told him that it was something dad would do frequently, Alex never believed it.
"Is it safe to send the kids back to Reverse Falls?" His father asked with clear concern in the voice.
"I'm sure it is" Pines spoke. "The danger is only here, it is not happening in Reverse Falls. You can send them. You must send them"
Honestly, Alex wanted to run upstairs and tell Adalynn they were about to be send back because of a dangerous thing, but he also wanted to stay and listen more, he wanted to know exactly what was going on.
"This demon" Mabel started talking, the word demon got the boy completely "what it is anyway? It's not a dream demon, we already know it, so... What can it be?"
"Maybe a creature of another dimension?" Gleeful asked.
"Let's hope it isn't" Pines interrupted. "If it is a creature from another dimension, it means there is a gate around and... The greater the number of theories get, the dangerous the situations gets as well"
"What is the most plausible one?" Mabel spoke.
"All of them" Bill rushed in answering "all of them are perfectly plausible, this is why we need to think better and discover before it attacks"
*************
"So, what is it?" Adalynn asked concerned as her brother walked into the bedroom.
"We're going to be send back to our town" he whispered, looking at both sides, afraid something or someone would be hearing him. "There is some extremely dangerous demon out here, and we are getting send back because of it"
"What about dad and papa?" Adalynn said. Alex stared at her for a few seconds, it was still a bit hard for him to identify who was dad and who was papa, it always sounded way too childish for him.
"They're staying. To fight" as soon as the boy replied it, he understood what those words actually meant. It couldn't happen. He couldn't afford to lose both parents, again. He wouldn't be able to go back to an orphanage and pretend life was ok, pretend he was actually enjoying all of it. He had lived many years of his life in that situation, and he wouldn't be able to stand that another time.
He couldn't let his parents do such thing and risk their lives, because if their lives were taken, he would have no choice but to leave as well. Alex tried to think straight about how brave they were, and how about he couldn't just leave Adalynn alone in the world, though no logic spoke louder than his fear.
"Adalynn" he said, suddenly standing up and glancing at his twin. "I am staying"
"What?" She asked shaking her head. She wanted to cry her eyes out. She knew what all of that meant. She knew she wouldn't see her brother so worried and scared in a normal situation. She knew everything was going wrong.
"I'm staying" he reaffirmed "you can't convince me the opposite"
"No, no, no, no" she whispered to herself, until the word didn't mean anything to her.
"I have to" he told her, "pack your stuff and leave, I will make a plan up and go back. I can't let it happen"
"What are you trying to avoid?" She said no longer holding the tears anymore.
"You know exactly what I'm trying to avoid"
"You can't avoid something if it might happen with you"

I have been a long time without updating, uh? Well, I guess I am up for the feels train, so make sure you sign up for it!
I seriously want to tell you what I plan for this fanfic, but, my dear reader, I can't, so here comes a little spoiler:
I'm just gonna be my writer-self here, and that surely doesn't mean mentally stable characters!
Hope you enjoyed it.
