System note
Why was this all misfortune upon me lately? I couldn't understand it. The goddess of luck had abandoned me and left me alone. There was no way all these recent series of unfortunate events came simultaneously. First, a war came to our doors, and I had to send men to fight. After the war finished, things would start getting better, or so I thought. To my dismay, Avalon sent their diplomats along with many other nations. How opportunistic of them. They all knew my land was weak after our most recent war. As the sharks all are, the smell of blood attracts their noses. Frankly, none of the nations taking advantage of our weakness would stand a chance against us if we had our whole strength.
The cherry on the top was the news that my wife had been attacked. I sent every man available on a search party effort, but after a few days, I had to give up and order a retreat. My coffins ran low, and I couldn't afford the search party. And now I was at home while pulling my hair out, not knowing what to do next. In times like these, my lovely wife Anna usually came to comfort me. I couldn't get her out of my thoughts, and I even began to get wild ideas of going to search for her alone. Images of Anna and my kid flooded my mind constantly. Was I even worth to be this land's lord? So far, everything had been going sideways, and I couldn't even keep my wife safe.
At my lowest point, I even thought of ending everything. Grabbing my small dagger and impaling it in my heart would suffice. Still, I could never muster the courage to end my life; something wanted me to believe that Anna was fine. A small glimmer of hope kept me going. Moreover, my people counted on me. I couldn't simply say, screw this and die when my people needed a strong leader to guide them thru tough times. Yeah, I was a leader, and leaders cannot show weakness. If I ended up my life, this would only signal my land's imminent despair to the world.
While in the middle of my thoughts, my ears picked up the sound of trouble outside my mansion. Reacting to this, I stood up to see what was happening. Once I got outside, my eyes were greeted with a relieving sight. My wife, Anna, had returned and was now signaling something to me. Trying to understand the situation, I saw many of my guards unconscious on the floor. Then I spotted her, the Huntress was near my wife. Judging by how Anna was signaling, I assumed the Huntress wasn't here as a foe, so I ordered my men to calm down and put their weapons down. A rush of happiness came when I hugged my wife after such long, restless nights and stressful days.
When I finally calmed down, I remembered that the Huntress was still here, so I asked Anna about her. Anna answered with the truth. She told me that the Huntress had saved her. I didn't want to believe it, but my kid' crying in the back of the legendary S-class monster known as the Huntress confirmed she wasn't here as a foe. Even then, I had a bad taste about her presence. The Huntress and I had already met each other previously. She didn't seem to recognize me, but I did remember her far too well. Still, since she wasn't here to destroy my land, I assumed that Anna had brought her over, which made me question her. Anna then cleared my doubts by explaining her plan to me. Wow, my wife was brilliant.
As we studied multiple languages, we began speaking about Akane in a foreign language so she wouldn't understand. "Think about my dear. Our army's numbers are low, but what if we get her on our side? She's worth a couple hundred soldiers alone," Anna told me in her usual scheming tone. "But what if she realizes you don't actually care about her? You know it would be terrible if you broke her heart, and nothing would stop her from killing you," I said while holding her hands. "It's alright. Akane is far too naive to understand right from wrong. She's so naive you could honestly sell her as a slave, and she wouldn't even realize it until it was too late." My wife's words sent a chill down my spine. I knew she was an evil genius when I married her, but whenever she came up with twisted plans like these, I always felt threatened.
Thus, I only went along with her plans. We both welcomed Akane into our home. However, things would have to change with Akane. Obviously, we couldn't make a woman a knight, so we convinced her to crossdress as a man. Akane didn't understand why we asked her to do this, but she did crossdress as requested. My wife was right. Akane was so naive and gullible. It honestly made me feel bad. Nonetheless, I didn't want to displease Anna, so I acted like my wife's manipulation didn't bother me.
Several days passed, during which we have been training and nourishing Akane. I can't stay too close to her without feeling slightly intimated. Akane is not tall or even muscular, but she is swift. She has a tremendous amount of raw power, along with her speed. She was a true berserk warrior. Even so, Akane also acted rather delicate at times. I initially noticed her behavior out of curiosity, but once I analyzed her more, I noticed that she didn't like certain things. Surprisingly enough, the smell was one of those things.
Akane acted like a bad smell from anything bothered her. Which also made me notice that she takes two baths a day. I saw this when, cough, cough. I would rather not say why I noticed this. Let's say that women around the globe often strive for an hourglass body shape, and Akane had that accomplished. Please forgive my dirty mind, Anna. I am only human, after all. I cannot deny lusting over her once I accidentally saw her seminaked body. It was by accident, but the glimpses of her perfect shape and proportions made me see her in a different light since then. However, the multiple scars on her back did make me cringe. She was so marked that if you had told me she was previously a slave, I would have believed you.
