Isolation

[Socks' POV]
It's been forever since anyone came to visit. Even Muffin stopped showing up to stay the night in our shelters. It's been so long since i've seen the others, but there's nothing left for me out there.

You'd think I would've used this time alone to plan out my attack on Memey- and well, I was, but the more I thought about my attack, the more I began to think about the war in general, and what caused it....and....who caused it.....

I thought about what we had before. The people I had befriended who were now gone. And after a while...I stopped being angry. In fact....I stopped feeling at all.

[Nobody's POV]

Socks was rummaging through his stuff, looking for practically anything to eat. He couldn't really order food from TBH since he was worried that he was still on Memey's side, so he decided to go visit Laff to see if he could get any Laff Loaves from him.

Socks made his way through the forest. He basically knew this place like the back of his hand and would frequently explore it in his freetime. He even found Dino knocked out unconscious out here once- though he managed to drag him back to his mountain cave without much harm. Dino was basically the closest thing to a friend Socks had, and that's only because he gave him the military base.

Socks soon arrived at Laff's home....only to be hit by a horrible stench coming from within...what WAS that??

"Hello?"

He called out into what seemed like an empty house- and soon heard sounds of clattering and clanging, before....Laff popped up from a hidden trapdoor in his floor!

"Oh! Hey socksy!"

Laff got up from the trapdoor and walked over to him, but...this didn't feel like the Laff he knew. He was much taller, and skinnier...and overall seemed much more joyous than how he remembered...albeit, he hadn't seen Laff in a long time.

"Oh...Hey Laff, did you uh, lose weight?"

"I guess you could say that!" Laff chuckled. which unnerved Socks. He wasn't laughing how he usually would, but chocked it up to his poor mental state misremembering things. Laff invited him inside, and Socks sat down on the couch.

"So what brings ya here?"

"Oh I just uh...was wondering if you had any food"

"Well of course!! In fact- TBH is actually downstairs making some loaves right now, dya want one?"

Socks became anxious at the mention of TBH, but figured that since they were on neutral ground, he'd be okay. Besides, TBH would never give up an opportunity to make money selling food, Socks knew that for sure.

The two headed down the secret trapdoor and into what looked to be.....a restaurant? What was this doing underneath Laff's house?

Laff walked up to the register and called out to TBH

"Hey Teebs! Ya got a customer!!"

Socks was still baffled by what was around him. It seemed to be a replica of the Honest Burgers, except the logo had been swapped for Laff Loaves. Any windows that the restaurant had were merely painted on the walls, and he wondered just how long TBH had been down there. With not much else to do however, he sat down in a chair.

Soon enough, TBH came out from the back in his custom made uniform. Socks was surprised to see just how happy TB looked, given the circumstances. TBH soon noticed Socks, and Socks began to worry, before TBH smiled at him and waved.

"Hey socks! Hey boss!"

Socks waved back awkwardly. Boss? Was he really working for Laff now? Since when did THAT happen? Weren't these two competitors? ...and just what happened to the Honest Burgers?

"Wow um. it seems i've missed a lot, what are you doing down here exactly tb?" Socks said awkwardly

"Oh! I work for Laff full time now! It's great honestly, much better than working at the Honest Burgers all day..."

"Wait so....you never leave this place?"

"Nope!"

"But....what about Memey?"

There was an awkward pause after he said that. For a brief moment he swore he saw the smile on TBH's face fade into a frown, before perking right back up as Laff interjected.

"Say Teebs, could you get our friend here something to eat?"

"Oh! Sure thing, Boss!"

TBH ran into the back and Laff sat down with Socks. Socks was so confused about all of this...he started to wonder just how much had changed since he hid himself away in his base. Was there even a war anymore? Could he...finally go home?

"So...how have you been?" Laff interrupted Socks' train of thought

"Hm?"

"I mean, you've been all alone out there in your little military base. I'm worried about you is all."

"Oh...I uh, I guess i've been fine. I don't really even spend that much time at the base anymore in all honesty, i'm usually just out in the forest exploring and stuff..." Socks seemed to be avoidant of how he had really been feeling, and Laff seemed to notice

"Well....if you ever need a friend, just remember you've got me, alright?"

Laff smiled as he reached out his hand. Socks smiled back and shook his hand before TBH came back with a few loaves of bread.

"Ah, finally!"

The three boys sat together at the table and ate some bread while talking about meaningless things. For a while, Socks began to feel as if everything was how it once was before, and that made him feel....well, it made him feel! And he was glad to finally have some good emotion in his life after so long.

Afterwards, he made his way back to his base, and made some plans to finally move back in with the others, and get to finally see his friends again after so long.

And he even began to think that maybe...he could finally move on from Blaza, and get to live a normal life with what little he had again.
