  60. Didn't Steal Your Boyfriend

Krislynn woke up to a nudge on her back in the morning followed by a soft pinch on the cheek. She let out a yelp of annoyance, but couldn’t be bothered to open her eyes. She was so tired! Her body felt drained of energy and her head throbbed just to be awoken because of her lack of rest. How long did she even sleep for? Like two hours maybe? Three?

Or it could have actually been a lot more since they had such a long night, but her body’s exhaustion refused to admit she had more than two hours of sleep.

“Piglet, wake up. Come on. Before I bite you.”

“Mmm.” She groaned and opened her eyes to let some light in before enveloping herself back in comfortable darkness. “Go away.”

So Chase did what every normal human being would have done in that situation, he bit her. Immediately she shot up and whimpered in pain, the light blanket he had draped over her falling to her lap. “You’re already flashing me this early in the morning?” He teased as she quickly clenched the blanket and pulled it over herself.

Krislynn’s cheeks brightened as she bit her lips and remembered what they had shared the night before. She peeked at him through her eyelashes and felt her voice trembling when she spoke to him. “Am- am not!” She shouted. Her gaze flickered over to the fireplace where the fur rug was last night, but it had somehow disappeared. She was also sitting on the tiny bed in the corner, but she couldn’t remember walking over to it either.

She looked up at Chase for answers, but a bit of silence had followed since she replied to him, and he had gotten a bit awkward in the process. “So uh… last night,” he said, smiling at her sheepishly, but trying to keep a straight face. “That was quite the event huh.”

Blushing, Krislynn mentally beat herself up. It was embarrassing enough having allowed him to explore every part of her last night – willingly, sober, and particularly with the lights on – it was worse when she remembered all the times she joked and teased him about having nothing down there. When he took his pants off last night, fully ready for her, oh the horror! She was never going to live it down! She couldn’t even openly admit that last night had been amazing because Chase would rub it in her face for the rest of eternity. He was definitely that type of person!

Clearing her throat, Krislynn looked him straight in the eyes and shrugged. “Al- alright,” she said. “Last night was alright.”

The look on his face when she said that was enough to make her laugh to death, but she bit the inside of her mouth and shifted her eyes away. “Al… it was al… right?” He stammered.

“Alright,” she confirmed, even giving him a nod. “It was alright.”

He was shocked, and the surprise put him in a good trance before he shook his head and composed himself. Chase decided to come back strong. “Alright? It was alright?” He scoffed, rolling his eyes and laughing angrily. “With all the sounds you were making last night, sure didn't sound like it was just ‘alright’!”

Krislynn cleared her throat again. “I was faking it,” she said.

            “What?!?!”

Unfortunately she couldn’t control her laughter at that point and broke into a fit of giggles as she brought her knees up to her head and rolled herself into a ball. Immediately Chase knew she had been pulling his leg and ran his hand through his hair in anger. “I can’t believe you! God! How could you… God!” He started laughing. “I could kill you right now, do you know that?” He edged closer to her on the bed and hugged her from behind – though since she was curled up in a giggling ball, it was more like he was hugging all of her at the same time. “Jesus! I hate you so much right now.”

Peeking over her shoulder, Krislynn stuck her tongue out at him. Her face was pink from both embarrassment and laughing too hard and Chase made a face at her when he realized just how much fun she was having at his expense. “Hate you right back,” she laughed.

“You don’t even have the right to hate me,” he muttered. “I’m such a good lover. I made you feel insanely good last night and you say what? It was alright? You were faking it?”

“Yeah well, with the amount of experience you’ve had Chase, it would be a tragedy if you couldn’t even give me a single orgasm.”

“But I didn’t just give you one, now did I? Ohhhh… Bam! Right there!” He laughed as she wrinkled her nose at him and gave her a quick peck on the lips before standing up. “But seriously, this whole thing aside, I’m really late for work. You completely overslept.”

If he hadn’t mentioned it, Krislynn would have never even thought of it. It was Monday after all and as far as the schedule goes, they were supposed to shoot a chase scene on the beach today. Her eyes searched the tiny cabin in one glance, but she couldn’t find her clothes on the floor where they had been last night. “What time is it?”

“Like nine,” he said, and as if he could read her mind, he walked into the washroom and came back with some dry clothes for her. “Here. Wear these. They’re my clothes, but they should be okay until we get home.”

She took the clothes, but was extremely confused why he was giving her his and not hers. “Where’s mine?” She asked, and only then realized he was fully dressed in clothes that were different from the ones he was wearing last night.

“Ah, that,” he muttered. “Well it turns out clothes don’t dry that well when you throw them together in a pile.”

“No kidding!” She shouted. “I was going to lay them all in front of the fireplace, but you just took them and– ”

“Well excuse me,” he interrupted. “I was too horny to think of that last night okay?”

Grunting, Krislynn slipped on the shirt and cotton sweatpants he gave her before giving him a weird look. “Chase… where did you get these clothes anyways?” He shifted his eyes. “Did you… did you have them the whole time?!” She cried. “When we were drenched last night and had nothing to change into, did you have them the whole time?”

“Well, yes and no.” He flustered as he ran a hand through his hair. “Well, it turns out that I had some clothes I left behind the last time I was here, but I didn’t know that. So I mean, yes, and no…”

Krislynn released an angry growl in which he pacified with a quick smile. “I can’t believe you. You probably forgot about them on purpose. I mean, pretty convenient don’t you think?”

“Whatever, it’s fine right? Last night worked out well…” He winked at her before changing the topic. “Come on, wash yourself up and let’s go. I’m starving. We didn’t even eat last night and we burned off a lot of calories.”

Krislynn staggered over to the washroom and freshened up with the unopened toothbrush he had left inside for her. There wasn’t even any hot water so she had to wash her face with ice-cold water and was freezing by the time she got out. Still, at least the water seemed to have completely woken her up.

When she got out, Chase tossed her a hoodie and told her to put it on. He had their damp clothes in a bag and what looked to be the fur rug from last night rolled up and tucked under his other arm. Apparently he had gotten the rug dirty the night before which he explained to her with this shameful expression on his face.

“Will you be okay like that?” She asked. She had slipped the hoodie on as she was told, but couldn’t stop eyeing the T-shirt Chase was wearing. The cabin was still warm from the fire so he was fine, but she had her doubts that the temperature outside would be anywhere similar.

Chase narrowed his eyes at her. “What do you want me to say?” He asked. “No, I actually don’t really mind the cold so you can wear it… or no, I have more muscle mass to keep me warm so you can wear it? Because honestly, it’s actually really fucking cold up here in the mornings and I really want to be wearing one of those hoodies.”

She pouted at him as they left the cabin and followed the descending trail down the hill. It was beautiful where the cabin was located and the sun was shining so brightly in the sky with blankets of white clouds floating around it. But despite how blue the horizon was, the breeze that sailed by was so chilly that Krislynn could feel it biting her cheeks as it passed by. Chase couldn’t stop shivering and it made her feel so guilt ridden that she had taken his only hoodie. “You always have to take the romance out of everything,” she complained. “Now I feel bad.”

He raised an eyebrow at her. “You find lying romantic?”

            “No… but…”

“But what?” He grumbled. “Isn’t the truth more romantic? I care about you enough that I’d rather be the one to freeze to death instead of you. Isn’t that good enough?” He smiled at her. “So don’t feel bad. Just make me feel like it’s worth it.”

Krislynn bit her lip and then hooked her arm through his. Even though he would still be cold on one side, she could at least keep the other side of his body warm.

Chase read her thoughts and laughed. “Fuck that,” he said. “That’s never going to be worth my while.” Then he grabbed her and crushed his lips on hers, making absolutely sure that she paid back every penny his designer hoodie was worth.

When they finally got to the shooting, it was already mid afternoon, and Chase was immediately dragged off by a furious Pete so they could change the order of scenes that were supposed to be shot. “Didn’t you know we had to hurry it before sunset?” He shouted. “Who ever heard of a director being several hours late for work?!”

“Why can’t I be late?” He retorted. “Andrea’s late all the time and Troy’s late everyday.”

“Yeah, but they’re the lead actors.”

            “That’s just discrimination.”

“Wait Chase. Look at me.” Chase stopped as Pete grabbed his shoulders and took a good look at his face. He was puzzled why his friend would suddenly want to inspect him, but didn’t stop as Pete gave him a quick run through with his eyes. There was nothing wrong with him. He had gone home, showered, changed and even grabbed a bite to eat with Krislynn at McDonald’s before coming over.

“What’s wrong?” Pete gave him a sly smirk and pushed him so they could talk as they continued to walk together.

“You got laid last night,” he said. “Didn’t you? Don’t answer it. I know already.”

“You know what?!” Chase spat. He started laughing thinking how unbelievable it was that Pete could tell just by glancing at him. “Who told you? How do you know?”

“Dude, it’s all over your face.”

            “Bullshit! No it’s not.”

“Chase, you might think you’re tough shit, but you’re actually really cute.”

Chase raised an eyebrow at him. “You didn’t just call me cute.”

“No seriously. You have these super animated expressions so I can always tell what you’re thinking. There’s Happy Chase, Angry Chase, Morning Chase, I Just Got Laid Chase…”

“Fuck off! I do not have a I Just Got Laid face!”

“You could have actually ended up as an actor. You have an expression for everything.”

Chase swore at him, but the matter was quickly pushed aside as their professions took priority. The boat chase was logically extremely simple. Troy was on one boat chasing after another boat, which held Andrea captive. As he tries to shoot down all of her captors, he gets a lethal shot himself and exerts the last of his strength to save Andrea after her captor throws her off the boat. Logically, it was simple, but Chase had his doubts about Troy, being the dramaqueen that he was, would be able to perform accordingly.

The day dragged on, but before he knew it, several hours had passed and the sun was starting to set. They quickly wrapped up the shooting before the crew started to pack things up. Contrary to his belief, Troy actually did better than Chase expected. There was a bit of trouble in the beginning and he kept muttering about how to make his abs look really good to the cameraman, but after that got out of the way and he got into character, the shooting went extremely smoothly and they were able to finish all the scenes they were supposed to take.

He was absolutely relieved that Troy did well today and even told Krislynn so when he managed to pull her aside to talk. She listened, but gave him a disgruntle look as she juggled a bunch of boxes in her hands. “Look Chase, that’s super nice and all, but I’m really busy. What’s the use of telling me anyways? If you thought Troy did a good job then– ”

“I did not think he did a good job,” he shouted. “I just think he was you know… he passed today.”

She rolled her eyes at him. “Okay then, tell him that. I mean, you guys just shot the last scenes in the script today, it’s not like the shooting is over. Go over there and praise him a little, it can’t hurt. He might even do well in the rest of the shooting.”

Chase sulked and followed her as she worked. “I don’t want to. He’s like obsessed with me. It’s annoying. I don’t feel like it.”

“He’s not obsessed with you,” Krislynn muttered. “Just because he coincidently sleeps with every girl that you sleep with after you sleep with them, doesn’t mean anything. You sleep with every girl in L.A anyways. It’s probably hard for him not to cross over at some point.”

“Whatever. What would I even say to him?”

“Just say something like, ‘hey you did good today. Keep up the good work.’ You can say that right? Come on Chase, all you ever do is yell at your actors, that’s hardly a good director even if you can make a good movie.” She reorganized the boxes of props she placed inside the trailer and got back out to collect some chairs. “So be brave! Go over there and sow some good deeds okay?”

Chase scowled, but somehow he ended up wandering in front of Troy’s dressing room trailer. He didn’t even want to do it, but Krislynn had that weird way of making him unconsciously obey to her every command. He wanted to please her and show her that he could be a good director – whatever that was in her books because it was certainly different from his – and after clearing his throat, rapped his knuckles on the door.

Troy had already finished changing when the assistant invited Chase inside, but he was getting his hair styled and seemed surprised that the person who appeared was Chase. “What are you doing here? Nevermind.” He waved his stylist and his assistant out of trailer so that Chase could speak to him privately. “Was there something you needed to talk to me about?”

“Just a few words.” He sighed. “Look, it pains me to admit this, but you… you did well today. I mean…” He scrunched his eyebrows together trying to remember the exact phrase Krislynn told him to say, but couldn’t quite remember. “Anyways, good job.” And just like that, it was done, and it actually felt kind of good to praise someone for once.

Feeling proud, he was about to turn and exit the trailer when he saw Troy rolling his eyes and scowling at him. “Just cut to the chase,” he said, “and tell me what you actually came here to say.”

Chase was baffled why he would suddenly say something like that. What did Troy think he was going to say to him? “I did… I just told you.”

“So you’re still going to act like that?”

            “Act like what?”

Troy stood up and Chase unconsciously shifted to the right when he walked up to him. Wrong move! That was the wrong move!! Now Troy stood in front of the trailer exit and blocked his way out! What was he thinking?!

“What… what are you doing?” Chase stammered. Troy was backing him up against the wall and Chase suddenly felt the chill in his bones. His back hit the wall and Troy slammed his hand against the wall beside Chase’s head. Chase shuddered and stared at the glint in Troy’s eyes in horror. All he wanted to do was to come and give Troy a simple compliment! Suddenly the situation had taken a dangerously wrong turn! This was escalating way too fast! “Stop! Stop!” He cried. “I don’t know what you’re thinking, but this is wrong!!!!!!”

“Stop pretending,” Troy growled. “All this playing hard to get is getting old!!”

“I have no fucking idea how you even got that!!!”

“I know you want me Chase!” He shouted and crumpled his hot lips on top of Chase’s before he could retaliate. It was two long, long seconds of burning lips on burning lips before Chase shoved Troy away and slammed his shoulder against the trailer door to open it. He went sailing outside, tumbling down the steps before he caught himself and started running.

What just happened?! What just fucking happened?!!!

His head was fuzzy and he felt his stomach churning.

            What just fucking happened?!

Did he… Did he just get sexually violated inside Troy’s trailer!?

He found Krislynn somewhere in the distance and staggered towards her in agony. He was almost able to grasp onto her, but he collapsed just a few feet before he reached her. “Chase…” She shouted. “What’s going on?!”

“What have you made me done?!?!!” He cried as he fell to his knees. “I don’t want to live anymore!!!”
