Episode 1-4: Painting Roses

This was an exhausting hour for us. So far, I painted three and my hands are already sore from that painting, but can't give up now, I have to get these roses painted. While Deuce and Grim are using magic to change the colors of the roses and Ace is painting the other roses, I was finishing up painting with the rose until I notice a rose next to the other is wilted.

I squint and gently held the wilted rose with three fingers.

Poor thing, you didn't get enough water didn't you?

I thought while gazing at the withered rose sympathetically. Then I reminisce back on Merlin's words two hours ago.

Chanting the healing incantation is good, but singing to it would be the upper vantage.

As look back at what Merlin said to me, I glance behind where Deuce, Ace, and Grim are engrossed with chores and Cater is no where in sight. This gives me an opportunity to carefully hold the withered rose and took a deep breath and close my eyes.

*play the music above^*

"Flower, gleam, and glow...."

Soon the wilted rose turns gold once I began singing.

"Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse
Bring back what once was mine~"

I caroled as the rose is engulf with light.

"Heal what has been hurt
Change the Fates' design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine
What once was mine~"

I marveled ending the chant with a gentle harmony. I open my eyes to see the light fade away and the rose became flourish again. I become awe at this healing power.

So that's how it works....

I thought. Soon I heard clapping and I glance down to see Cater clapping with a smile.

"Wow Prefect-chan, you sure got a beautiful voice you have." He compliments making me flinch and slide down from the latter. I spun around with a blush crept from my cheeks.

"P-Please don't tell me you saw everything?" I stuttered while staring at the ground.

"You mean hearing an angel's voice that was descended from the heavens? Cuz that's exactly what I heard." He stated making me widen my eyes. This reminds me when Marc complimented my voice. Soon I look back at the time where me and Marc first met in freshman year before we started dating.

~~~~~~~~~~
It was in the autumn before thanksgiving where the skies were partly cloudy and the warm breeze was hitting my shoulders causing my black hair to flow from the gust of wind. It wasn't too cold, or hot, it was humid; just like I wanted. I was sitting on the bleachers minding my own business where I was gazing at the clouds while listening to music from my phone. Soon I find myself mindlessly sang the lyrics of a song, When Will My Life Begin, from the one of my favorite Disney movie, Tangled.
The lights will appear
Just like they do on my birthday each year
What is it like
Out there where they glow?
Now that I'm older
Mother might just
Let me go~
"Hehe nice voice you have."
"Eh?"
I turned my head to see a boy who looks like the same age as me with short brown hair and round hazel eyes wearing a jersey jacket, jeans, and red sneakers.
I widen my eyes and turn away.
"Oh, sorry...did my voice annoy you?" I asked looking guilty, but he became baffled when I asked as Marc curled his brows.
"Why would you think I'd be annoyed?" He asked curiously. I lower my head allowing my dark strands of my dark hair covered my face.
"I sang privately oftentimes, but...." I paused while looking back at the talent show incident. I soon grimace at the trauma from my childhood. However, I was caught off guard when I felt a light thump next to me. I spun to see the male brunette sitting next to me. Puzzled, I darted my eyes left to right feeling awkward around this new guy.
"Um...What are you doing?"
I asked curiously while looking wary as the brunette boy lifts his left leg against the bench to grab his shoelace.
"Relax, I'm just tying my shoelace." He reassured as he tied it into a bunny ears and tightens hard. Soon after, he spun his head to me.
"Sorry about that. I noticed my shoelace is untied. And I'm not here to ya know "creep" you out. I was out of the football field helping my team cleaning the equipment until I heard a fainted voice and it turns out it was you along...heheh. I just happened to heard you sing. Sorry if I'm bothering you." He apologized while scratching his right cheek with his finger as sweat drips from his head from awkwardness. I sat there puzzled by the random odd teen boy.
"It's fine...You're part of the football team?" I asked curiously and he bobs his head.
"Yeah. I'm a quarterback." He told me with a grin before stroking the back of his head.
"I know this is awkward for us since we've just met, but from what I heard, you have an amazing voice. I'm not sure what made you hate your voice, but you sang good. It's like... I heard an angel descending from the heavens...?"
He complimented with a curling his brows deeply cringing at his corny compliment making me widened my eyes before erupting a laugh.
"What? An angel?! Me?...I don't know about that." I skeptically snarked averting my eyes as I fold my arms to my chest with a side smile, but the male brunette shook his head and beamed at me.
"I mean it, you really sounded beautiful. It's the honest truth." He sincerely reassured. I blinked my eyes twice in surprise. This is the first time that boy ever complimented my voice and for that, I felt warm sensation in my chest.
Moved by the straightforward and sincere brunette boy, I squint my eyes intently while keeping my eyes glued to the boy's hazel eyes.
"...You really think my voice isn't bad?" I asked again wanting to test his sincerity. He shrugs and grins.
"Why wouldn't I?" He replied casually. I creased my brows at him.
"How would I know if you're telling the truth?" I asked curiously.
"You may or not, but from my perspective. I'm telling you this from the heart." Marc reassured causing me to snicker at his corny response.
"Cheesy, but whatever." I dryly spoken.
"Cheesy, but it's just how I feel." Marc quips making me roll my eyes at him while smiling a bit.
"Yeah...Ok." I replied casually before looking back at Marc.
"What's your name?" I asked curiously. The kind brunette boy chuckled and smiled gently.
"Marc. Marc Steward, you?" He said as he extends his hand to me smiling tenderly at me.
"You?" He asks curiously. I stated at his hand for a minute before glancing at him and took his hand.
"Gloriane. Gloriane Corbett, but my friends call me Glor, Glo, or Glory for short." I told him and Marc beamed warmly at me.
"It's nice to meet you, Gloriane." Marc greets her kindly with a grin. I blinked my eyes twice before smiling a bit while I'm flattered by his kind and straightforward nature to a certain degree.
~~~~~~~~~~

As I look back on where me and Marc first met, it was the first time a boy like Marc complimented my voice without insulting me. Though I'm quite sad how our relationship turned out. We'd been going so smoothly for three years, but he had to f#*k things up in our senior year and near graduation. To admit I thought he was the man I want to marry in the future, but oh no, that plan got flushed down in the toilet real quick. I can't believe he would cheat on me like that. Then he had the gall to come to me the next day and telling me that he cheated because he can't control himself. Like come on man, at least try to contain yourself.

I then let out a sigh and I glance at Cater with a curious look.

"You...don't think I'm terrible?" I question.

"What makes you think I would?" He ask curiously. I grip my right wrist while staring at the ground awkwardly.

"Well, it's complicated for me to say, but...I don't like singing in public. I've been hiding my voice since I was a kid..." Glory mumbles before letting out a giggle and glance back at Cater.

"But don't worry about it. Everything is in the past so it's fine." I told him with a grin while biting the inside of her cheek. Cater stares at me for a minute with a hint of concern in his eyes before grinning.

"Well...I don't exactly why you don't like singing, but I'm not gonna force you to tell me about it. But to me...I saw a beautiful angel with a beautiful voice." Cater reassures with a grin making me widen my eyes, reminding me how Marc complimented my voice when we first met.

Touched by his kind words, I find myself smiling warmly at the sweet male ginger.

"Thanks Cay, but me an angel?" I ask skeptically.

"It's the honest truth, Glo-chan." Cater replied with a grin.

"Hm? Glo-chan?" I blink my eyes.

"Mhm, sure Glory is a good nickname, but I find Glor to be too masculine. So I shorten it up for Glo, cuz you GLOW like an angel." Cater compliments flashing a wink that made me giggle and shaking my head at that corny pun he made.

"God, don't say something so cheesy." I pleaded while covering my mouth.

"Awww angel-chan's smiling, how cute~." Cater cooed making me giggle even more.

"Boi stop, you're making me turn red." I begged while grinning.

"But you look cute when you blush." He teased making me giggle and blush even more. Suddenly we heard Deuce grunting way back and we both turn to see the serious bluenette struggling with his magic.

"Red, red...There! Gaaaah! It turned blue!" He shrieked. Poor Deuce.

Then we both turn to Grim who is in the same boat as Deuce.

"Change color...take that! Gyaaah! The roses are on fire!" Grim panicked. I rush to the back of the dorm to get the nearby hose. Then, I sprint towards the burning roses and extinguish them out. Afterwards, Cater came up to me with a grin.

"Thanks Glo-chan."

"No prob." I reply grinning back. Then Cater turns to Deuce and Grim where he shakes his head and cross his arms.

"You guys are really more terrible at this than I could've imagine." Cater sighs.

"Aren't the roses fine being white? They're pretty." Ace asks.

"He's right, why can't you just buy red roses instead of painting them red?" I asks curiously.

"That's our tradition. Roses are red for the Unbirthday Party and we use flamingos in seven different colors for croquet with hedgehogs the balls. But, y'know, the spring garden concert of the flowers uses white roses. That's important an important point, too." Cater explains.

"Those are all strange rules." Grim grumbles.

"They say these rules were all decided by the Queen of Hearts from the Great Seven. Riddle is particularly passionate about following the rules even compared to the other strict dorm leaders. I won't deny, he goes too far sometimes, though..." He mumbles scratching his head.

"That's right, I don't have time for this. I want to speak to the dorm leader, is he inside?" Ace asks.

"Hmm, I think there's still time before he leaves...." He mumbles.

"He's really that focused isn't he?" I asks.

"Riddle's always a hardworking person and never breaks a sweat during his role as dorm leader." Cater explains causing me to think about Riddle, whom I met back in the ceremony.

I wonder what he thinks of me? News about me being the reincarnation of Gothel has been spreading fast, so he must have an opinion of me just like the rest of the students here....

I ponder anxiously. Then I saw Cater turning to Ace.

"By the way, Ace the Tart Thief, did you bring a tart of apology?" He asks.

"No, I came empty-handed..." He replies.

"Aaah noo. Is that so?" Cater looked disappointed.

"Is it necessary to bring a tart as an apology?" I ask curiously.

"Aah you must understand you guys. You're going against the Laws of the Queen of Hearts, Number 53: 'One must always return what they stole', I can't let you in the dorm." Cater said.

"Haa? Why the hell is not?!" Ace yelled.

"I'll lose my head too if I knowingly let you in while you're not obeying the rules. I feel bad, but you need to leave before Riddle notices." Cater informed with a stern look.

"Whoa, his face got serious! Guys, help me out!" Ace plead.

"Why would I?!" Deuce yelled.

"Please! I can't use magic right now...Wahhh, here he comes!" Ace panicked as I peer behind him and widen my eyes when I saw Riddle about to come out of the door.

"Welp sh#t." I cursed. Soon Cater starts pushing me, Deuce, Ace, and Grim.

"Come on guys, I'll take you out." He said as Cater push us to the gate to avoid being seen by the dorm leader. Afterwards, we arrived at the entrance.

"Now, go get that tart and try again! Bye-bye!" Cater waved then turns to me.

"See you later Glo-chan~!" He cooed as he blew me a kiss causing me a blush slightly. He then ran straight back to the dorm leaving the three of us here at the entrance.

"What's his problem?!" Ace grumbled not happy when being escorted out.

"No matter how many times we took him down, he kept coming back. I wonder if he was using illusion magic?" Deuce muttered.

"On top of that, we get turned away at the gate without a tart? We didn't have anything to begin with! He just wanted us to paint the damn roses!" Ace ranted.

"He's a shrewd one." Grim remarked crossing his arms.

"Then we just have to bring a tart and try again. We can go after....Ack! Crap!"

"Hm? Deuce, what's wrong?" I asks. Suddenly a loud ring boomed out of nowhere causing me and Grim to flinch.

"Gah! What the f#@k?!" I cursed covering my ears from that awful ring.

"This is bad, the warning bell already rang! We're gonna be late!" He shrilled.

"Ffgna! My shining school life is going to be tarnished on day one!" Grim yelped.

"Let's get a move on!" Grim demanded.

"What class you two in? You're first years, right?" Ace asks.

"The headmaster told us to go to class 1-A!" Grim told them.

"Wow, were in the same class. First period is Potions." Deuce informed.

"Woooooh! Sounds like fun!" Grim chirped in excitement.

"I can't use magic, so I wonder how this'll go..." Ace mumbles. As for me, I looked curious yet skeptical about 'potions'.

I feel like it's gonna be involved with a lot of math and science; which are my two archenemies, but...we'll see how it turns out...

I ponder as I shrug my shoulders and grin nevertheless. Then we all head in the dorm to attend potions class.
