Real Date
At Pops' House, (Y/n), Mordecai, Rigby, Anna and Eileen are playing a game called Mineropoly. Anna rolls the dice. "Six. One, two, three, four, five, six. Coyote Flats. I'd like to buy a mine." Anna said. Eileen slowly picks up a card. "In the mine, you find...gold!" Eileen said. "Yes!" Anna said. "Aaaaawww..." Mordecai said. Eileen flips over the card. "Foolsgold!" She said. "Aw, man." Anna said. "Ooooooohhhhh!" Mordecai, Rigby, and Eileen said, and (Y/n) just shrugs. "Sorry, better luck next time, sis." She said.
"The scientific name for foolsgold is pyrite." Eileen said. "My turn." Mordecai rolls the dice. "C'mon, Papa needs a brand new pickaxe!" Benson appears in the doorway with a handful of mail. "Are you gonna take care of this mail? It's been stacked up by the door for weeks." Benson said. "We get mail?" Rigby turns to Mordecai. "Did you know this?" He asked, and (Y/n) chuckles. "Get it outta there!" Benson drops the mail. "Do it or you're fired! Eileen. Anna." He leaves. Rigby picks up a football trophy with a drawing of Rigby's head that says "World Rugby Association" the "u" in "Rugby" is covered by an "I", spelling "Rigby"
"Aw, yeah! My order from Trophy Discounters!" Rigby said. Mordecai looks at one of the letters. "Couple Corral?" He asked. "What?" Anna asked. "You're still subscribed to that dating site?" Eileen said. "Dude, you're not single." Rigby said. "Uh, yeah." Anna elbows Mordecai playfully. "I deleted my profile." She said. "Hey, I forgot, alright? Okay, everybody watch." He takes out his phone. "Delete profile?" A voice asked. Mordecai presses "Yes", then a wheel rolls as it's loading. "See, it's being deleted right..." A gunshot sound is heard as an X appears, then Mordecai looks at his phone. "Are you sure, pardner?" The voice asked.
"Yes!" Mordecai presses "Yes" "Did you mean to press "No"?" The voice asked. "Hold on." Mordecai said. "So how long have you two been together?" Eileen asked. "Hmm. We've been hanging out for a month now." Anna said. "Hanging out"? "Hanging out"?!" Rigby asked. "Sounds pretty casual, guys. I mean, have you ever been on a nice, romantic date?" (Y/n) asked. "This is a date." Mordecai said. "This is game night, Mordecai. I mean a real date." (Y/n) said. "A real date?"
Anna and Mordecai asked. "Does that time we had all-you-can-eat crab at Seafood Sal's count?" Anna asked. "No." Rigby and (Y/n) said. Eileen then tuns to them with a slight smirk. "Oh yeah, well what about the two of you? I don't think you guys have really gone on an official date yet either." She said smugly. Rigby and (Y/n) both blush and look at each other, then quickly avoid each other's gazes. "Ooooooohhhhh!" Anna and Mordecai said. "She's got you both there, dudes." Mordecai said. "Stop talking!" Rigby shouted. "Well, that's... that's because we aren't official, Eileen." (Y/n) said. "Not yet." She replied with a smirk. "I'm gonna make reservations at a nice restaurant." Mordecai said. "I'm gonna buy a new outfit." Anna said.
"Saturday at seven?" Mordecai said. "Saturday at seven." Anna said. Mordecai and Anna run away to make plans to get ready. "Hello? Game night?" Rigby asked. "The three of us can still play." (Y/n) said. The next day Rigby and (Y/n) are playing a video game together and Mordecai is holding up a small jewelry box. "Dudes, you got a second? I want to show you what I bought for Anna." Mordecai said.
The duo put down their game controllers. "Okay, what do you got?" Rigby asked. Rigby opens the box to reveal a bracelet with charms shaped like a shopping cart, a laser gun, a cloud butt, a roller skate, a video game controller, a grilled cheese sandwich, a go-kart, an alligator, and an air hockey mallet. "What is this? What am I looking at?" He asked, and (Y/n) takes a look. "It's a charm bracelet, idiot." (Y/n) said. "There's a different charm for all the stuff Anna and I did the first time we met." He points to each individual charm.
"Wow, Mordecai! This is the kind of thing that pros get their girlfriends." Rigby said. "Maybe he is a pro." (Y/n) smirks. "Right? I'm just not sure how to give it to her, though." Mordecai said. "Simple, dude. Just say you have something for her, and then you give it to her!" (Y/n) hands the box to Mordecai. "Classic gift-giving technique, dude." (Y/n) said, and Rigby snickers. "No, dude. I've gotta do it in some way that's really special." Mordecai said. Benson appears with a handful of mail again. "What's this?" He demanded. "It looks like-" Mordecai said. "No, no, I'll tell you. It's the stack of junk mail I asked you to take care of yesterday!" Benson tosses the junk mail in (Y/n)'s,
Mordecai and Rigby's laps. "But we threw that out!" Mordecai said. "Really? You threw this mail that I found not in the trash into the trash?" Benson asked. "Wait. This is new junk mail. And it's all from Couple Corral. Man, what is it with these guys? Hey, Benson, do you have any ideas for a romantic way to give a gift to a girl?" Mordecai said. "Well... I've always thought it would be nice to have a waiter serve a gift box in place of dessert." Benson said. "Look at you, Benson! How are you still single?"
Rigby asked, and (Y/n) laughs. "Yeah; that idea's genius." She agreed. Benson shrugs. "I'm just spitballing here." He said. "Well, thanks for the tip, Benson. I'm gonna go call the restaurant right now." Mordecai dials the restaurant's number on his phone. Later at the Coffee Shop, Eileen pours a cup of coffee for Anna. "So, big date's tonight, huh?" She asked. "Yeah." She replied.
"What kind of place are we talking? Is this an oyster/crackers or a warm rolls establishment?" Eileen asked. "I think they might charge extra for bread." Anna said. "Ooh, romantic." Eileen puts the coffee pot down. "So what's your "hes"?" She asked. "I'm just not sure it's gonna be enough. This night has to be amazing, you know?" Anna asked.
"Hmm..." the two girls said. "Maybe I can get a special dessert for Mordecai." Anna said. "Yeah! What does he like?" Eileen asked. "Waffles, chocolate..." Anna said. "There's a new pastry shop downtown that specializes in chocolate-covered waffle cakes." Eileen said. "That's perfect! I'll take him there for dessert to surprise him." Anna said. "You just gotta make sure not to fill up on bread at dinner." Eileen said.
At the Bistro en le Parc, Mordecai and Anna are sitting at a table near a window. "Could this get any more romantic?" Anna asked. "Oh, well... maybe." Mordecai sips water from a glass. The concierge approaches Mordecai from behind. "You have a call at the front." He said. Mordecai shrugs and rises out of his seat. "To be continued." Mordecai walks up to the front desk, and the concierge hands him the phone. "Hello?" He asked. "Matchmaker McIntyre here, CEO of Couple Corral. This is not a recording." McIntyre said.
"Uh, hi?" Mordecai asked. "We noticed earlier you deleted your profile. So sad to see ya go. We really appreciate your business, so I'm beggin' ya to rejoin." McIntyre said. "Hello? Hello?" Mordecai asked, talking over McIntyre's voice. "If you come back to us today, you'll get free romantic coupons. To rejoin, say "yee-haw!" To cancel, say "adios". McIntyre said. "Adios! Adios!" Mordecai hangs up, and McIntyre was standing behind him. "Aah!" Mordecai screamed. "Told ya I wasn't a recording! What do ya mean "adios", pardner?" McIntyre said.
"Uh, I don't need Couple Corral anymore. I'm in a relationship now, so..." Mordecai said. "Here's what I'm thinkin'. Break up with Anna." McIntyre said. "Excuse me?" Mordecai asked. "Break up with her and rejoin my site!" He wraps an arm around Mordecai. "Couple Corral could help you find somebody better." He said. "Dude, I'm happy with Anna." Mordecai said.
"Will you be though after we dredge through her profile?" McIntyre takes out his phone. "Okay, let's see what we dig up here." McIntyre shows Mordecai photos of Anna with different hairstyles. "Isn't keeping her information, like, really illegal?" Mordecai asked. "You'd think." He stops on a photo of goth Anna. "Whoa! How do you expect her to be committed to you when this girl can't even commit to a hairstyle?" He asked. Mordecai shoves McIntyre away. "So? I like Anna. Now leave me alone."
Mordecai walks away, and McIntyre glares at him menacingly. At Mordecai and Anna's table, Anna is on the phone. "Hi, L'Wafflerie? I just wanted to check and see if the waffle cake I ordered is ready." Anna gasps and quickly puts her phone away when Mordecai returns. "Unbelievable! Anna, when you deleted your Couple Corral profile, did its CEO come to you in person and tell you to break up with me?" Mordecai asked. "No." Anna said in confusion. "Ugh. Let's just enjoy dinner." He said.
After dinner, Mordecai and Anna have clean dinner plates in front of them. "Man, that steak was off the hook!" Mordecai said. "Yeah, this was so good." Anna said. "Ready for dessert?" Mordecai snaps his fingers. "Garcon!" A waiter walks over with Mordecai's gift box hidden under a serving dish. Anna's phone vibrates with an incoming call from L'Wafflerie. "You know what? Let's skip dessert." She said. "What?" Mordecai asked. "Uh, I... " Anna stands up. "...gotta go to the bathroom. Excuse me." She walks away, passing the waiter Mordecai called over. The waiter looks confused. "Uh..." A car's high beams shine through the window and its horn plays "La Cucaracha".
Mordecai looks out the window and sees McIntyre. "Hey, Mordecai! Wanna meet a girl that doesn't have to go to the bathroom? Call me!" Mordecai looks angry. Later on; Mordecai and Anna are leaving the restaurant. "Hey, I'll catch up. Gotta tie my shoe real quick." Mordecai said. "I can wait." Anna said. "No! Uh... it's better if I have privacy." Mordecai said. "Uh... okay." Anna walks off as Mordecai bends down to "tie his shoe". With Anna out of earshot, Mordecai takes out his phone and calls Rigby. "Talk to Rig." Rigby said. "Dude, the dessert plan failed." Mordecai said. "Whaaaat?" Rigby asked.
"I need you to pick up the bracelet at the restaurant and bring it to the Koffee Kiosk in the square." Mordecai said. "I'm on it." Rigby said. Mordecai catches up with Anna. "Sorry about that. I just wanted to try out this new knot." Mordecai said. "Okay." Anna chuckles. "Do you mind actually if we cut over to Main Street?" Mordecai asked. "Well..." Anna stutters. Wafflerie is across the street behind Anna. "It's just that... Well, I was kinda hoping we could stay on this block." Anna said.
"Really? But Main Street's so much more romantic." Mordecai said. "Um, hello? Dry cleaners, notary publics as far as the eye can see? This is where it's at." Anna said, and the duo laugh. Mordecai sighs and puts an arm around Anna. They walk forward a few feet, then Mordecai breaks into a run down the block. "Race you to the square!" He said. "Huh? No!" Anna takes out her phone and calls (Y/n). "Hey, what's up sis?" She asked. "Waffle plan's been jacked. I need backup." Anna said. "Copy that. What do I do?" (Y/n) asked. "I need you to pick up the waffle cake and meet me by the big fountain in town square." Anna said.
"I'm on it." They both hang up. Mordecai runs down the street. Anna quickly catches up with him. "You're pretty fast, Mordecai." She said. "Huh?" Anna pulls into the lead. "Not fast enough!" Their race ends in front of the town square water fountain. "Woo-hoo! I win!" Anna said. "That's not fair. You exercise. Let me just get a cup of coffee. Then I bet I can outrun you." Mordecai said out of breath. "Face it, dude. You lost. Come on." Anna takes Mordecai by the hand.
"Let's go make a wish in the fountain. You can wish to be faster at running." Rigby stands by the Koffee Kiosk with the bracelet. "Dude!" Mordecai waves to Rigby, and Rigby starts walking over. Mordecai takes out a coin. "Okay, here I go." Mordecai closes his eyes. "I wish... for a cute girlfriend who likes me back." Mordecai and Anna laugh as he flips the coin. The coin travels up into the air and stops on McIntyre's blimp. "Dump chipmunk girl!" Mordecai is in shock as the coin splashes into the fountain. "Is he watching us?" Anna asked. "Let's get out of here."
Rigby walks up to the fountain, and Mordecai and Anna are gone. "Argh! Come on, dude! Stick to the plan!" Rigby shouted. "Rigby?" (Y/n) asked. She appears behind Rigby with the waffle cake. "(Y/n)? What are you doing here? Are you gonna eat that by yourself?" Rigby asked, and (Y/n) giggles, then shakes her head. "I'm doing a favor for Anna. Did you... buy jewelry?" She asked. "Ugh. No. I'm doing a favor for Mordecai." Rigby said. "Wait..." (Y/n) narrows her eyes, then so does Rigby. Mordecai and Anna are by the Koffee Kiosk.
"I think we're safe. You want a coffee?" Mordecai asked. "I'm good. You?" Anna asked. "Nah." There's a brief pause, then Mordecai and Anna talk over each other. "I think I left something at the fountain." Mordecai said. "Uh, I'm gonna use the bathroom." They walk to opposite ends of the kiosk and take out their phones to call Rigby and (Y/n). "Rigby!" Mordecai said. "(Y/n)!" Anna said. "New plan." Rigby and (Y/n) said.
"Come to the pier by the waterfront." Rigby said. "You can get your present there." (Y/n) said. "Over and out." Rigby and (Y/n) said. Mordecai and Anna hang up and walk back over to each other. "Let's go to the waterfront." The duo said. The duo go to the waterfront amusement park. "Well, here we are at the waterfront." Mordecai said. "Yup. All sorts of surprising, romantic stuff happens here." Mordecai and Anna stop and gasp, looking at a candlelit table setting with their gifts on the table.
"Whoa." As they run over to the table, Rigby and (Y/n) are hiding inside a crate. "For me? So that's why you were acting all... And that's why you made all those..." Mordecai and Anna said. "Excuses." Mordecai said, and the duo begin to laugh. "Tying your shoe?" Anna asked. "Going to the bathroom. I was calling Rigby." Mordecai said. "I was calling (Y/n)!" Anna said. As Mordecai and Anna laugh together,
Rigby and (Y/n) watch and bump fists. "I'm sorry this wasn't more romantic." Mordecai said. "This is the most romantic date I've ever been on." Anna said. Mordecai goes wide-eyed. "Really?" Anna goes wide-eyed as well and nods her head. She and Mordecai move in for a kiss, but they're interrupted when the pier shakes. "Something hit the pier!" They run up to the edge of the pier, and McIntyre's submarine rises out of the water. The hatch opens and McIntyre comes out. "Last chance, Mordecai! Break up with her!" He shouted.
"Dude, what's your deal?! Aren't we the point of your site? Shouldn't you want us to stay together?" Mordecai asked. McIntyre sighs and shakes his head. "Whoever here knows how to run a website, raise their hand." He raises his hand. "Happy couples don't use Couple Corral; lonely people do! Lonely people lead to subscribers. Subscribers lead to more clicks. More clicks somehow lead to millions of dollars. Millions of dollars lead to sweet corporate-branded stuff. See?!"
He gestures to his blimp and begins to sob. "My site's too good! There's nobody left! Happy couples have been leavin' in droves! I'm bankrupt!" He shouted. "Dude, just sell your stuff!" Anna said. "No! My crooked lawyer told me this is the only way! Break up with her!" McIntyre shouted. "No way! We're really into each other!" Mordecai shouted. "If you won't break up with her..." he takes out a bazooka. "...I'll do it for ya. Let me introduce you to the Couple Corral "Breakup-ulator". Mordecai and Anna scream in terror as McIntyre takes aim at Anna. He fires a missile with "It's not you, it's me." written on its side. "Look out!"
Mordecai pushes Anna out of the way of the missile, and it explodes into the pier. Anna falls back, and Mordecai's body rolls onto the beach. He lies lifeless with Anna's gift in his hand with bruises and scrapes on him along with his hair and suit cut up a little and messed up. "Mordecai!" She glares angrily at McIntyre. "Well, darn. That didn't work out like I wanted it to. Anna! Rejoin my site?" Anna's eyes turn red, and she begins breathing heavily. "Uh-oh." McIntyre said.
"NO!!!" Anna shouted furiously. Storm clouds began to form in the sky above them. The water around McIntyre becomes turbulent. "LEAVE... US... ALONE!!!" Lightning strikes the pier under McIntyre's car, and it falls onto a gas tank and explodes. The car's bull horn-shaped hood ornament flies up into McIntyre's blimp, rupturing it. The blimp plummets down toward McIntyre's submarine. "Hubris!" An explosion destroys the blimp and submarine and kills McIntyre. Anna cries and runs over Mordecai's body with his head on her lap.
"Mordecai... Mordecai... Mordecai... No!!!" As Anna holds Mordecai, her tears splash onto his face and Anna hugged his head. Then Mordecai began to cough and groan. Anna gasps. "Mordecai?!" They hugged each other. "I thought you were dead!" Anna said. He sits upright. "I would be... if not for this gift box. I hope you like it." Mordecai opens the box. The charm bracelet now only has a single charm on it shaped like a heart. Anna gasps. "There's a different charm for-" he looks at the new bracelet. "Whoa! Well, there used to be different charms. I guess they must've all gotten welded into a heart by the bazooka blast."
Anna puts the bracelet on her left wrist. "I love it." She said. "I thought that you would." Mordecai said. "I guess the thing I had for you must've exploded." Anna said sheepishly. "That's okay. I got my wish." Mordecai said. "What, that you can run faster than me?" Anna joked. "No, for a cute girlfriend that likes-" Anna cuts him off with a kiss as the sun rises in the background. "So (Y/n)'s sisters have powers too..." Rigby whispers to himself. "Huh? Have what?" (Y/n) asked, glancing at Rigby. She did know that her sister had a temper, but she figured that the strange weather that just happened was just a strange coincidence. "Oh! Nothing!" Rigby sees (Y/n), holding the waffle cake and she gives it to Rigby, who's holding a fork. Rigby gasps. "Is this waffles and a cake and chocolate?" He asked. "Yeah." (Y/n) said. Rigby takes a bite of the cake. "I love it." Rigby said. "I thought that you would." (Y/n) said.
