* Annabeth's POV. *

Sorrow, incompetence, loneliness was all I could feel. I felt like a nuclear bomb had just hit me, sending me flying miles away into space. I felt as if my existence was falling apart. Yeah, I know, my emotions were all messed up and I was awfully dramatic! But you couldn't really blame me, I was living a poor but happy life up until now.

"Bye, Annabeth"I heard my mom murmur for the last time.

Cold, yes definitely cold. A cold drop of crystal like tear fell down my face. Slowly, I sniffed my tears back and began to swiftly and silently run up to the safest place in our house. The attic.

As soon as I got to my mom's room, I tiptoed into the closest and carefully pulled the stairs to the attic down. Creeeeeek! I shivered. Although I tried not to make a sound, it was almost inevitable.

Nevertheless, I somehow managed to get to the attic, safe and sound. From the small window in the attic, I saw my mom open the door to a stranger. He was wearing a black texido with a brown tie. Classic, really, if only he didn't wear those oversized black sunglasses. If I wasn't in these circumstances, I would've burst into laughter.

"Don't go, mom," I whispered, hoping my mom would somehow hear me.

As I continued to look outside, I wished that I told my mom that we should go together.

Not long after, my mom walked out of the door.

" Hello,"I heard my mom say. Even in these circumstances, she was absolutely calm.

Without replying, the tuxedo man grabbed my mom's arm.

"What do you want,"my mom asked. "Who told you to do this?"

"I'm just following orders," the man growled. "Now follow me or else."

My mom narrowed her eyes. " Let me repeat myself. Who's behind all this?"

"The main household, of course. Now move it, or else. Are you the only one living in the...shabby house,"Tuxedo man made a disgusted face.

" Yes."

"Hmmmmm....."

" Where are you talking-"

"Shut up, lady! "

My eyes widened. How could he treat someone as nice as my mom like that?

As my mom walked into the 2015 limited edition Highlander, she turned her head around and looked up. She was either looking at me or the sky. Then, she mouthed something.

Life is not wear is sows? No. I doubt that. Life is not what it seems? Yeah, that would make a lot more sense.

As soon as Mr. Brutal Tuxedo Man caught a glimpse of my mom looking up into the sky, he snickered in a deep voice, "Praying won't do ya any good. Now get in, now!"

My mom nodded and smiled towards me before walking into the car.

As I watched the car drive away into who knows where, I cried loudly.

" W-why did this have to happen," I yelled out loud. You see, yelling my worries somehow relieves my sadness for a while.

"Quiet down," my neighbor screamed back.

" Sorry! "

******An hour later******

Tired and sad, I desperately tried to call my mom, hoping she'd reply.

"Beep, beep, beep....."

I waited.

"Sorry, the number you're calling is invalid. "

What? How's that possible? I even triple checked the phone number before I dialed the phone.

I tried again.

" Beeeeep. Sorry, the number you're calling is invalid."

I glared at the phone. "Ugh!" I put the phone down and I stared off into space. Then I remembered that I still had school tomorrow.

Panicking, I rushed to my bag and fished out my homework. As soon as I took my homework out, I looked at my homework for a moment, dumbfounded. After a few seconds, I started with my science homework.

Science Homework:

1) How do you calculate the speed of light is planet x is 252 billion km away?

2) What is the resistance of a circuit that has 13 amperes and has a voltage 10?

3) Design a circuit and sketch it.

"Ugh! What a drag!" I thought as I went on to the second question, but as soon as I remembered about how my mom could've answered these questions as fast as lightning, I sighed. Soon enough, I broke into a soft sob which turned into a series deafening sniffles and tears.

But the real mystery that bothered me the most was why tuxedo man just took my mother away like a coin on the floor.
