You may be thinking to yourself: "Michele, more short stories?!"

Well... yes! For some very good reasons. 

First of all, variety is the spice of life. Let's say I'm struggling or stuck in part of a longer story. Taking a little break for a short story or a challenge often refreshes me and I'm ready to come back to the longer work with a fresh perspective and some new inspiration.

Secondly, the weekly contest prompts on this website are not just for bragging rights - writers have a chance at a cash prize. I don't know about you, but I think churning out a 1,000-3,000 word story for a shot at $50 is pretty easy money, if you win. 

For the most part, these are creative little exercises for me. I surely won't have time or be able to write a story for every single prompt, but I hope you enjoy the ones I post here. They might not win the money, but they're all winners in my heart! Ok, ok, the cheesy writer will go back into her lair...
