I groaned as I  stumbled down the stairs into the common room. I was unnaturally pale, and no amount of morphing could change that. I eventually went with blonde hair, much like Lucius Malfoy, so that it didn't look to terribly bad. Remus was pale too. I looked at the bulging moon that was barely shining in the morning sun. Tonight I have to find a way to hide myself from the other students. I don't want them finding out about my.....condition. The thought rang through my head like the afternoon bell. Dong, dong, dong. Werewolf, werewolf, werewolf. Remus stared at me through blurred eyelids, and mumbled a quick greeting. The others spoke more enthusiastically, and Sirius crushed me in a big hug. He pulled away a little later, blushing furiously. I laughed at his embarrassment and quickly snatched the snitch James was tossing.
"Too slow, deer! Get it? Deer?"
"I get it, Fran." James said, rolling his eyes. I cringed. My jokes had become worse, and more corny.
"Sorry, that was terrible. I don't know what's wrong with me....here, have it back." I tossed the snitch James's way, but grabbed it with my other hand. The surprised look vanished from my friend's face and he lunged for the golden ball. I pulled back farther and farther till I hit the couch and fell over into the lap of...Remus. I sat there for a moment, blushing as the caramel haired boy stared at me in surprise. His eyes flashed amber, which I didn't understand, considering he wasn't a metamorphigus. James jumped over the back and landed on me.
"Oof!" Remus and I said at the same time.
"What was that for?" I asked, secretly handing the Snitch to Remus. He discretely slipped it into his pocket.
"You know what it is, Francine." He spoke my full name. I threw him off with werewolf strength. He tumbled to the ground.
"What was that for?!?!"
"That was for calling me Francine. I said call. Me. Fran. And. Nothing. Else. Okay?"
"Okay, Franandnothingelseokay. Give me back my snitch."
"Gotta catch me!" I jumped back over the couch and sprinted onto the girl's dorm steps. When James ran up I used the gymnastics training we did at Beauxbatons to do a perfect toe touch, and I shoved my feet against the wall, holding me above the stairs. The stairs changed to a slide and James slid back to the bottom. After a moment of thinking James ran up his stairs. He came back with a broomstick; it was a school one, much worse than James's new Cleansweep. He mounted it and flew towards me. I dropped and slid down the slide. James jumped off and slid after me. He landed on top of my body and put a hand on my chest.
"Gotcha!" He said, quite smugly.
"Hey, Prongs, Morph! Stop the sex scenes in front of first years! Not something they should learn!" Sirius called, for indeed two first years had walked into the room. I returned James's gaze.
"I don't have it." I teased, smirking. Remus took this as his cue to close his book and stand, stretching and strolling out of the portrait door. James looked at Peter and Sirius, then the retreating back of Remus.
"You didn't!" He yelled, and jumped up and ran after the now laughing boy. I stood up and collapsed.
"You 'kay?" Sirius asked, chuckling about James. "Nice switch, by the way. Truly excellent." He grabbed my hand and pulled me up.

"Today in Defense Against The Dark Arts we will be talking about werewolves." I gulped. Surprisingly, Remus did too. Is he one too? I wondered. I shook my head, confused.
"Please turn to the chapter, which can be found on page 394. I know who don't normally start this early about this chapter, but some students may find it interesting." My professor's eyes twinkled towards the five friends squished in a row of four seats. Especially towards both Remus and I, the two sharing a desk. We looked at each other and burst out laughing. Weird fact that you should know about me, my laugh is infectious. Within five minute we had everyone laughing for no reason, and Remus was wiping away tears from laughing so hard. I, of course, watched James as he sat there, mouth open in a laugh, clapping like a retarded seal. We all laughed at James, till we were breathless and smiling.
"Alright class, that was fun. Now, werewolves are complex creatures...." Our professor droned on. I eventually just ended up writing to Remus on a piece of scrap parchment.
Are u one of them?
One of what?
A WW
WW?
I mouthed, "werewolf" to Remus's confused expression.
Oh
Are you?
He looked at me and bit his lip. After a moment he nodded.
If u don't want to be my friend then ok.
No! I'm one too....
Wait, really?
Yes. Fenir Greyback bit me when I was twelve. Just last year, actually.
Ouch. I guess I'm lucky that I don't remember the bite.
Who bit you?
Same person. Fenir.
Oh.
Yeah.
"We have a test on this tomorrow. Have a nice day. Class dismissed!" Professor Serbia spoke. I liked her.

"So, uh, you're one too?" I asked later that evening. We were in the commons room, which was luckily empty except for the Mauraders. Lily had called them that once and the name kinda stuck. Yep, so now I'm a Maurader.
"Yeah. You too?"
"Uh huh." I told him about Fenir cornering me in my old dorm, the pain of the bite, the weird poison feeling. He listened to the tragic tale, and cringed when he heard about my disfigured face.
"How come I can't see it now?"
"Metamorphigus powers. You can still feel it, though. I'll show you my normal face, scratched and bloody. I can't wipe away the blood, it has dried on my face..."
"Would you?"
"Yes, but please don't cringe. I know its ugly, that's why I hid it. And please don't be disgusted, I wish I could change it..."
"Hey, its okay. I understand. Believe me." He pointed to some scars on his face. "I understand."
"Okay. Here you go." Remus took an intake of breath as he saw my long hidden true form. A once beautiful girl, I was scarred beyond repair. Fang marks stood out pale on my tan neck, and dried blood lay in streams below it. The curly copper hair was caked in blood, as was the rest of my face. I had long gashes diagonally down my face. Tears pricked my eyes as Remus stared at me.
"You're beautiful! Well, except for the blood..." He exclaimed. He grabbed a nearby washcloth and reached for my face.
"It doesn't work, I tried. The wounds just open up and more blood covers it." Remus still lay the washcloth on my face.
"Lay down. Eat this." He advised, handing me a bar of chocolate. I bit off a chunk. Chocolate always made me feel better. I couldn't see Remus through the washcloth, but his calm tone told me he enjoyed me being me.
"I'm a monster!" I suddenly exclaimed, sitting straight up. Some blood had come off but not much. I changed back to the wavy haired girl and handed the slightly bloody washcloth back to my friend. He smiled at me. Sirius glanced up from his essay. Shocking, considering this is Sirius. Sirius never does homework.
"God, Moony! I lost track of time! Come on, we need to go!"
"Language, Padfoot." Was Remus's calm reply, but I detected a hint of fear. I knew Remus never liked 'suggestive' words, so I used them more than even Sirius. I looked up. The sun was setting. Tonight was the full moon.
Tonight was pain.
Tonight was fear.
Tonight I became a werewolf.
