Chapter 65

Silas looked at the person that I couldn't see and said something that I couldn't hear, even with my advanced hearing. He slowly nodded and bit back a small gulp when the person said something to him, and I had a feeling that it sounded harsh.

I turned to look at Fernos and touched my ears, silently asking if he would be able to help me hear what they were saying.

Fernos held back an eye roll and set his jaw, pressing his lips into a thin line. He didn't say a word and gestured with his head toward the pair, silently telling me to look that way.

I held back an eye roll and pressed my lips into a thin line but did what I was told to do and looked that way.

Fernos placed his hands over my ears and closed his eyes, and I followed suit and closed my eyes without having to be told to do it.

My hearing became better than it had in the past, and I could hear their conversation, which I knew was about us.

"Are you sure that there is no one there?" the figure asked Silas in a gruff tone, and Silas flinched and bowed his head, submitting ever so slightly. "You didn't go check like I told you to do, Silas." He bared his teeth in warning, and Silas flinched and bowed lower.

"But I can't smell anything, Sir," Silas said with a shake of his head. "Why would I check when there is nothing there?"

"Because you are surrounded by those of different species that can do different things than what you are aware of," the man said sarcastically, and I couldn't help but bite back a small snort of amusement because this man was right.

Silas was surrounded by different species that could make it so that he couldn't hear, smell, or sense another person until it was too late.

Silas bowed his head and bit his lip. He didn't say a word, and I couldn't help but narrow my eyes and scowl at the male because I couldn't help but think that he wanted someone nearby to see what was happening to him.

The person on the other side of the barrier hissed in warning and narrowed his eyes, pursing his lips in annoyance. "I hope that you aren't thinking about having someone see what you are up to, Boy," he said, hissing a warning. He narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth together. "Or should I remind you as to what you will be losing if you do something like that?"

Silas gulped and shook his head, and he flinched. "No, my Lord," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I do not need to be reminded as to what I am going to lose if I do not comply with your or the king's orders."

"Hmph." He sneered and bared his teeth in warning. "Good," he said coldly. "Because I will gladly show you what you will be losing if you defy my or the king's orders."

Silas flinched and bowed lower. "I know, my Lord," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I am sorry. I hope that you can forgive me."

"Hmph," the man said. He looked around before he looked at him, slowly blinking. "Now, have you found anything about our... new guest? Who is she? Why does she look like the past Red Wolf before this Caroline girl?"

"She is her daughter, my Lord," Silas said and bowed. "Her name is Kyler Rose Pierce."

"Is she another of the girl's protectors?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

"No, my Lord," he said and shook his head, his voice barely above a whisper. "She is not another one of Caroline's protectors."

"And what is she called, or is she only known as the Red Wolf's Daughter?"

Sias hesitated but shook his head. "No, my Lord," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "She is not just known as the Red Wolf's daughter."

"And then what is she called?" he asked, annoyed that Silas hadn't answered his question. "What is she if she is not only known as the Red Wolf's Daughter?"

"The Siran," Silas said and bowed deeper without looking at him. "She is called the Siran."

"The Siran?" the other man asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and Silas nodded. "And what do you mean about the Siran?"

"That is what she is called, my Lord," Silas said and shook his head. "She is called the Siran, and that is all that I know."

"And does she have powers?" the person asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and Silas nodded.

"You have seen it, too, my Lord," Silas said and bowed, his voice barely above a whisper. "She is able to control fire."

"So she is not able to help the new Red Wolf out with her powers?" he asked and raised his eyebrow higher in question, studying Silas with a hard look on his face.

Silas shook his head, hesitating ever so slightly. "Not that I am aware of. No, my Lord," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I haven't been near them long enough to check."

"And why not?" the Lord asked, and I could hear the annoyance in his voice. "Why do you not go near them? You are one of the new Red Wolf's protectors. Correct?"

"I am," he said and nodded in confirmation.

"Then why do you not go near them? Don't you think you should make sure that the Red Wolf stays... safe?"

"Yes, my Lord," Silas said and nodded. "I know I should make sure that the Red Wolf stays safe, for it is my job, but that girl scares me." He hesitated and shifted on his feet before he looked around and then looked at the man. "I believe that she is on to me, my Lord."

"Onto you?" the Lord asked, sounding shocked and surprised, and Silas nodded in confirmation. "And what do you mean by that?"

Silas hesitated and looked around as if he was afraid that someone would hear him. He looked at the person that I was not able to see clearly for some reason. "She knows that something is off about me, my Lord. I think that she knows I am hiding something, which is why I have not been near the Red Wolf."

The Lord sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose, and he pursed his lips in annoyance. "Is that why you are not able to escape?" he asked with annoyance filling his voice.

"Yes, my Lord," Silas said and nodded in confirmation. "That is why I am not able to escape any longer or for you all to enter, which you have been able to do beforehand." He paused and shifted on his feet. "I have not been able to find any weaknesses."

"And do you think that the girl has something to do with it?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

"Yes, my Lord," Silas said and nodded in confirmation. "I do not think that she was able to do something herself, but she had someone else do it."

"Who?"

"I do not know, my Lord," he said and shook his head. "The queen is too weak to do it, and the prince will not do it without his dear mother's permission."

"Hmph." The male smirked and tucked his head closer to his chest. "It seems to me that he might have gotten asked to do it behind the queen's back. You can use that to your advantage and get them to turn on the prince."

"Yes, my Lord," Silas said and nodded.

"See if you can't escape. We need to capture the Red Wolf and bring her to the king before she is able to fend for herself."

Silas nodded. "And what about the girl?" he asked, and I knew that he was talking about me. "What do you want me to do about her?"

"Kill her," he said simply and shrugged, and Fernos grew tense behind me. "Actually, no. Don't kill her just yet. Bring her to me. I want to see this girl and see how much of a threat she is."

I held back an eye roll at that statement and scowled, pressing my lips into a thin line.

"Maybe we can use her for our ultimate goal to bring the Demon God around from in between each of the realms. No one will be able to stop him, then, not even the precious little Red Wolf."

Fernos grew stiffer behind me but didn't pull away, and I made a mental note to see if I could get some information about the Demon God from him.

It would help me with him on my own timeline...

Silas nodded and hesitated while he looked around before he looked at him. "She won't come easily, though," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I know, and that is why you will use the Red Wolf," the Vampire Lord sneered, baring his teeth in an evil smile. "She will come with her, no doubt."

"I will see what I can do," Silas said and bowed, "but, please, do not hurt my sister or mate more than they have been hurt. I have been doing what I can to help the group with their ultimate goal."

"But not fast enough," he said with a shake of his head, and his sneer grew deeper, "and I do enjoy their screams of pain when I pleasure myself with them. They taste and smell delicious."

Silas bowed his head and gulped. "Of course, my Lord."

"Good, now, leave, and get busy with what you are told to do. Get them out as soon as possible, and I will... think about not killing or hurting them."

"Yes, my Lord," Silas said and bowed. "Excuse me."

And with that, and without another word from either men, they dispersed and went about their business with Fernos and I staying put for the time being.

Oh, Goddess, keep him and his family safe...
