Chapter 47
I looked up to see the person that pushed me down and to stop following that feeling with hot tears pricking the edge of my vision, making the figure above me blurry.
The person got off of me and stood before they held out their hands for me to take so that they would be able to help me stand, but I didn't take his hand and wiped my eyes until I was able to see who it was that had stopped me.
Percy...
Anger and grief filled my body, and I couldn't help but smack his hand away from me while I stood up myself without any help.
Percy flinched in surprise and let his hand fall to his side, but he didn't say a word while he stared at me with something in his eyes that I didn't understand and didn't know if I liked or not.
"You stupid son of a mmmph," I said and wiped my eyes before I blinked back the tears that wanted to fall while I set my jaw. "Why the fuck did you just do that?" My voice cracked, and I couldn't help but clear my throat and shake my head while I stared at him.
Percy slowly blinked and looked unamused. "Because you were about to escape the confines of this place," he said and tucked his head closer to his chest while he looked at me. "It was better for you not to escape and follow whatever you were feeling, Kyler."
"And why not?" I asked, all but snarling at him. I narrowed my eyes and growled, gritting my teeth together while I stared at him. "Why was it better for me not to escape? I had to escape so that I could find someone and see if they had information for me that is supposed to help me with what I need to do."
"Or you could have been captured and killed," Percy said while he tucked his head closer to his chest. He set his jaw and narrowed his eyes ever so slightly while he stared at me with hard eyes. "Do you even know who you are trying to meet?"
I bit back a small sigh and shook my head while I rubbed my eyes to stop some tears from forming and falling down my face. "No," I said before I cleared my throat to stop my voice from cracking, "but I was hoping that it was someone that I knew and wanted to see."
Percy set his jaw tighter and narrowed his eyes while he studied me. "And what do you mean by that?" he asked darkly. "Who is it? Why do you think that you know who it is?"
Tears started to fall from my eyes without my consent, and I had to take a deep shuddering breath before I released it with a small whoosh before I answered him. "Because there are people that I "know" that I haven't seen yet," I said and cleared my throat, "and I was hoping that this feeling was going to lead me to one of them."
"But that feeling it's dark and dangerous," Percy said coldly. He scowled and narrowed his eyes while he studied me. "It was dark magic, Kyler," he warned. "The person that uses it could have been someone that did not have your best interests at heart."
"Or it was someone that I know," I said, biting back a small sob and wiped my eyes some more while I gritted my teeth tighter together, hating myself for crying about this. "Yes, I know what the person is, but I also know that the person is trying to do anything in their power to help me." I shrugged and grimaced. "Well, at least the one in my timeline."
Percy scowled and narrowed his eyes further while he continued to study me to see if I was telling the truth and what secrets I was hiding from him. "And what if this one wasn't going to help you? Huh? What then?"
"Then I had to find that out for myself and not get stopped by someone else," I said with a shake of my head. "A part of me thinks that the person was there to help give me some information about what's going on, but now I can not know because of you." I turned on my heels and started to walk back to Caroline's tent, folding my arms around my chest and tucked my head closer to my chest.
Percy sighed and moved a hand through his hair while he shook his head and pursed his lips. "We are not done with this conversation, Kyler," he said while he started to follow me back to Caroline's tent.
"I know, but that doesn't mean I want to stay in one spot to talk to you," I replied and wiped my eyes some more. "And I have other business to attend to back at the tent, especially since I have no idea when the person is going to try to contact me again."
"Cooper will not let you come back in if you leave," he warned, and I scoffed and rolled my eyes while I pressed my lips into a thin line while my heart ached and became filled with sadness because I knew that what he said was true.
"I know," I said and rubbed my eyes before I cleared my throat and licked my lips. "I know that he will not let me back in, but that doesn't mean I will let that scare me into not doing what I need to do."
"And what do you need to do?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
I bit back a tired sigh and shook my head. "A lot," I said, "especially if I want to get back home in a timely fashion."
"And do you have a way to know what time it is over there?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he studied me.
I nodded in confirmation and pressed my lips into a thin line. "I do," I said and looked at the watch on my wrist, pursing my lips in annoyance when I saw how long I had been gone. "It has only been about thirty minutes since I had last looked at my watch, but I have been here for a while."
Percy pressed his lips into a thin line and slowly nodded, furrowing his brows while he looked at my watch and then at me. "Can I see the watch, please?" he asked and held out his hand for me to put my watch into it, and my heart dropped into the pit of my stomach when he asked that.
I stopped and turned to look at him with something on my face that had him smiling sadly while he tucked his head closer to his chest, and amusement and sadness filled his eyes while he stared at me.
"You can keep your watch on your wrist if that is what you are worried about, Ky," he said with a small hum in his voice. "However, I would like to see it if that is ok with you."
I hesitated before I slowly nodded and pressed my lips into a thin line, grateful that he would let me keep the watch on my wrist while he inspected it.
I didn't say a word while I placed my wrist into his hand so that he would be able to look at my watch and see how it worked.
His touch was gentle and warm while he inspected the watch with furrowed brows and pursed lips. "Who created the watch for you?" he asked and looked at me, tapping on it with his finger. "It's made of magic, strong magic to be exact."
I held back an eye roll and pressed my lips into a thin line. "I wouldn't be surprised," I said sarcastically. "Your mom and dad from my timeline helped create it with the Fae king and queen."
Percy's eyebrow went up when I said that, and he let go of my wrist. "So, the bonds are strong?" he asked, asking about the bonds between the species, and I nodded in confirmation with a sad smile on my face.
"The bonds are strong," I said. "All the species work together, and they make sure that everything that they do helps not only their species but the other species as well."
"Including the Demons?" He raised his eyebrow higher.
I nodded in confirmation, my heart yearning for another chance to see what the feeling meant and if it meant that the person that was connected to it did know who I was and was able to answer some of my questions because I knew that this Fernos would not.
"Including the Demons," I confirmed while I slowly nodded, pressing my lips into a thin line and my heart aching. "They help and serve when they can, and nothing stands in their way..."
