Chapter 34 (Edited)

Tears streamed down my face while I shifted back into human form. Wafilia was dead, and there was no way that I could get her back. I threw up and shuddered before I pulled on Vulcan's shirt, after I had finished. I knew that it was because my body was trying to get used to the fact that I had taken the last of the blood and was able to shift into my Wolf form.

I was surprised that I wasn't in excruciating pain like all the others that had shifted before me, but I guess it was because that I had to wait until I was ready, unlike the other Werewolves. I shook my head, clearing my head from my thoughts and left the cover of the trees, kind of praying that I could be swallowed into the ground.

"Let's go," Uncle C said, spying me come out from the cover of the trees. He had a poker face on, and I really didn't know what he was thinking. I just hoped that he wouldn't try to kill me, like I knew how some others would try to when they got wind that I was the Red Wolf.

I nodded my head, keeping my head lowered, not wanting to look him in the eyes. I grabbed hold of some of the shirt, trying to keep myself calm and not run as fast as possible away from the place that smelt of death and despair.

I walked in the direction of the house, still crying. I was scared and alone, not knowing what was going to happen to me was one of the worst feelings in my life. It was second to the self-pity that I felt, which I truly hated.

I didn't take a look at Wafilia's body, because I didn't want my last memory of her to be killed as well as having a bite in her neck. I shuddered and my stomach felt queasy as I smelt the death, not being able to handle it.

I am going to kill you, Skylar, I vowed, knowing that he wasn't going to be able to hear me. I gritted my teeth together and growled softly, remembering the sneer that was on his face when he told me that she was going to die.

Tingles went up and down my spine and a warm feeling grew in the pit of my stomach. "Relax, Rylan," Cooper said, his voice sending shivers down my spine. "We will avenge her death." There was a promise in his voice, that caused me to shudder.

I shook my head and wiped my face, not caring that I had gotten dirt or dried blood on it from my arm. "You mean me, Alpha," I said. I took a deep breath. "I can't let you."

Cooper growled, softly. "And why not?" he asked, stepping in front of me. This caused me to stop and glare at him. "I am your mate." He folded his arms across his chest and stared down at me, his face blank.

I snorted and shook my head. "Some mate you have been," I muttered, causing him to growl. I rolled my eyes and folded my arms across my chest. "And it's because it is my job to protect the Innocent."

"And it is my job to protect my mate," Cooper replied, causing me to growl.

"Oh for the love of all that's good. If you wanted to protect me, then you wouldn't have made it clear to me that you didn't want me. You might've changed, but you caused me more hurt than not. I need time to figure out what I want to do, and I have a lot on my plate." With that, I shoved past him and stormed off.

I knew that I was being a butthead, but I had just lost the female that I had promised to look after and protect. I didn't even know if I had lost the family that I had so badly wanted because of who I was and what I needed to do.

I took a shuddering breath before running all the way back to the pack house and into my room, ignoring the curious looks that glanced my way. I was sure that they were going to hear about what had happened earlier on, and how I had lost control of my anger and my Wolf.

I shook my head before running into my bedroom and then into the bathroom. I locked the bathroom door before stripping and jumping into the shower, gasping slightly when I felt the cold water hit my overheated body.

Tears streamed down my face while I scrubbed my body clean, hoping to get rid of the all the blood that had been spilt by my hands.

Two hours and about one hundred fifty punches to the bathroom wall later, I finally made it out of the shower. I took a deep breath and walked into my bedroom, only with a towel around me. A small smile appeared on my face when I spotted a white tube top and black jeans on my bed.

A note was beside it saying, You have no choice but to wear this. I locked your closet. Chao. Love, Addison

I shook my head and snorted, knowing that it meant that I still had one of my friends by my side. "Gee, thanks, Adds," I muttered, sarcastically. I pulled on the clothes, knowing that I didn't have a choice in the matter. I took a deep breath before walking towards the door, hoping, no praying that I wasn't going to loose my family just because I was different.

"Well, it took you a long time," someone said when I opened the door. I looked up to see a smirking Addy and Uncle Carter, who had on his poker face. "And I see that you are in the outfit that I had picked out," she added, glancing at the outfit that had been left out for me.

I shrugged. "I had a small melt down," I mumbled, closing my bedroom door before starting to go towards Uncle Carter's office, which was close by.

Addison grabbed my hands and inspected my bruised knuckles. "I bet," she said, her eyebrows creasing together as if she didn't know how they had healed so quickly. "They don't look bad though," she mused.

"It's because I heal quicker than normal Werewolves," I replied, honestly. I took my hand out of hers. I took a deep breath and sighed. "I know what you are going to ask, and I didn't tell you, any of you all, because it is dangerous." I shook my head and chuckled darkly. "I don't want anymore people to have to die for me."

"So, how many people have died for you total?" Addy asked, while she opened the office door.

All voices ceased to exist while I walked into the room, followed by Addy and Uncle Carter. My friends from this pack, my family from the other, the warriors that I had attacked, Vulcan, and Beta Rodrick were seated in there, probably waiting on me. All eyes were on me, and most of them I couldn't read how they were feeling.

I glanced down, my hair falling into my face while I took a place next to my brother. I gave him half of a smile when he grabbed my hand and squeezed it, but I didn't say a word.

Alpha Carter cleared his throat, causing me to look up at him. He still had that poker face on him, and I so badly wanted to wipe it off. I wanted to know what he was thinking and if he was planning on letting me live with the pack. "Well, I see that we are gathered," he said, glancing around the room before he looked back at me. "I think that it is time to explain yourself."

I sighed and looked down. "I don't know where to start," I mumbled.

"How about when you first knew that you were the Red Wolf," Liam said.

I nodded my head. "I-" I cleared my throat. "I found out that I was the Red Wolf the night of the party and me getting the Beta position," I said. "When I was flying here I had a run in with Amelia Grace and-"

"Wait, you had a run in with Amelia Grace and are still alive?" Thaddeus asked, his eyes wide. "I thought she couldn't leave wherever she is at."

A small smirk appeared on my face. "She can't," I said. "However, she some how did get to leave wherever she was at and came to find me. I don't think anyone had figured out that I had seen her, or she was the one that was wanting to see me." I rubbed the back of my neck and sighed. "She gave me something that would be able to find her, and I found her around one in the morning the next day. She told me who I was as well as one of my Protectors..."

"Who are your Protectors, and why do you have them?" Uncle Carter asked, leaning forward.

"Vulcan, Liam, Rhett, Gigi, and Becca," I said. I took a deep breath. "And Cooper." I glanced at him to see that he had a look of shock on his face. "And, I guess the reason that I have guards is because I'm supposed to be this protector of the innocent people, and if I go into the wrong hands, then... I could be used for evil." I rubbed the back of my neck, sheepishly. "Like Aedant Kearney."

"So, Aedant isn't evil?" Addy asked. "I mean, she did kill all those people."

I bit back a huff. "She drank the blood of uninnocent people. If she didn't then she wouldn't be evil." I glanced at Luke to see that he had his mouth open. "And the only reason that she drank the blood of uninnocent people is because she was captured at a young age and was forced to."

"What about her Protectors? Where were they?"

"Not with her," I replied. "She didn't know them when she was captured. Just like I didn't know mine." I rubbed the scars on my wrist, wondering what would've happened if I had known my guards at a younger age. Would I have cut myself? Would I have been strong enough to do what I had to do, or was it in my destiny to cut? "I saved Vulcan when I was three, but he didn't go to the GreenRock Pack."

"Why not?"

"She wasn't ready," Vulcan replied, his Romanian accent getting the best of him. "If I was there, then she probably wouldn't have the strength or backbone to carry on." Deep regret filled his voice, and I could feel his gaze on my scars from his pig's mask.

'It's fine,' I reassured him, using the link that I had with my Protectors. I glanced at him, giving him a soft smile before turning to look at Alpha Carter, whom looked like he had seen a ghost. 'It made me stronger.' I bit my lip, trying to keep a snicker in.

"You talk?" He asked, shocked.

Vulcan just nodded his head, not saying a word.

Alpha Carter turned to look at me, his face turning back into his game face. "What happened when she met her Protectors? And why should we keep you alive and here?"

"If she-"

"Aedant killed them, as well as her mate. From what I gathered, she was told to by the people that had captured her." My face darkened. "The same people that killed my parents, Alpha Cooper's dad, and Wafila as well as two people that we don't know the names for." A small growl escaped my voice, causing my Wolf to raise her head and growl also. "And for me being alive, if I wasn't, then there would be death, destruction, and pain." I bit my lip and chewed, trying to make sure that my voice didn't crack. "I would understand if you kick me out, Alpha. I did attack your pack members, and I will be putting your pack in danger."

"We are all ready in danger if you fall into the wrong hands," Liam muttered, angrily. He folded his arms across his chest and glared at his father.

"Liam," I warned, causing him to back down. I glared at him when he glared at me. "I'll be fine," I reassured him.

Liam huffed but nodded his head. He turned to look back at his father, not showing a change in behavior. "Rylan wouldn't hurt someone. We all know that. Yes, she is different, but she has been different from when she had came here." He gave his dad a pointed look, causing me to growl softly in warning.

"The reason why I was asking is because you are still family," Uncle Carter said, turning his attention back to me. "And I know that there is going to be a battle soon, and you will need all the help you can get." He paused and leaned back. "Besides, a lot of people care about you here." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "And it would be different if you were gone."

I blinked as my eyes and mouth were wide open. I was shocked. Here was this male, whom had only known me for a couple of months, and he was treating me like family, a part of a pack.

"You will still be helping out Alpha Cooper's pack with training and such, but you are still apart of this family." He glanced a Cooper and then a me, question in his eyes. He knew that I would be leaving soon, even though I didn't want to be.

I shrugged my shoulder. "Luke has shown a lot of improvement, and I am sure that he will be able to take the Beta position away from me soon."

"Bu-" Luke stopped when I sent him a knowing look.

"This is your family and your pack. Like it or not..." I glanced at Cooper before looking at my brother and his mate. "Mine needs to learn to accept me again, for who I am and who I am not." I turned to look at him and shrugged. "'Sides, I have other duties to attend to as well." I scrunched up my nose. "Which I don't know anything about."

"I do," said a squirming Becca, who was grinning like a mad woman, when we all turned to look at her. She paused and blinked. Her face turned slightly red when she saw that everyone was staring at her. "I- um... I will talk to you later about it, Ry," she said.

I chuckled and nodded my head before I turned to look at my uncle. "You don't have to help. It's-"

He held up his hand, silencing me. "We will help," he stated, firmly. "We are in this, also. The question that you need to be asking is what do you need from us? You aren't in this alone anymore."

I nodded my head and thought about it. "I don't like doing this, but... I need to gather forces, of all the supernatural groups. I need people to start spreading that there is a new Red Wolf in town. It might lead me into danger, but I might be able to find out who is trying to harm everyone."

Uncle Carter nodded. "And that is what we shall do." He looked at me, seriously. "You are not alone, Rylan. We will be there for you, always."
