9: Tale of a Sinner
*Thomas' pov*
"So do you want to tell me your name?" Grace asked the man we brought in sweetly. He glared at her. We were running some scans to see what this guy's name is, but we were hoping that he would tell us. Lisbon and Rigsby were still gone, so we couldn't get the boss to make this guy talk. We all have tried. No matter what we did, he said nothing. In fact if VanPelt couldn't get him to talk, we were going to sick Jane on him.
"Alright," VanPelt said walking in to the room all of us were in, "he won't talk to me. He won't talk to Cho and he won't talk to Thomas. Jane, your turn."
"Can Cho come?" Jane asked her. I saw the little scar that was left by the knife on his neck.
"Sure," Cho told him and they walked into the room. Jane sat down across from our mysterious knife man, and Cho leaned against the door.
"Hello," Jane told the man. The man gave him the bird. "Well that wasn't very nice. So will you tell me your name?"
The man looked Jane in the eyes, then down at his hands. Jane was playing with cards, and the man was watching him. Jane placed four cards face down on the table and started to move them around. I wasn't watching as much has the man was, and I saw what was happening. Jane was hypnotizing the man, and it was working.
"Now," Jane said still moving the cards, "I want you to tell me your name."
"Tim Wright," the man said, and I looked over to VanPelt who looked at me with the same shock. Tiffany's husband?
"Why were you in Ben Summer's office?"
"I was moving the things that he had in there so I could find the paper."
"What paper?"
"The paper Ben took from me. If anyone finds out what is on the paper, then my daughter will be taken from me."
"Did you kill Ben?"
"Yes."
Jane stopped moving the cards and looked at the window and then at Cho with a smile. He took up the cards, and Tim went back to his state. Jane and Cho walked out into the hallway, has did we.
"How was that?" Jane asked us. Cho and VenPelt shock their heads and left. Jane turned to me.
"How did you do that?" I asked looking at the cards in Jane's hand.
"Simple really. Why?"
"Seems familiar some reason. I don't know why?"
"It might be how your mind no longer remeber's what happened on that night with the Red Stars. A simple form," he said shuffling the cards," or much more complex."
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Lisbon asked Jane walking into the hall with us.
"What do you mean?" he asked her.
"You just made our job harder cause now we have to find this paper that Tim was talking about! Why I put up with you is beyond me, but I can tell you one thing, I should smack you upside the head!"
"Lisbon calm down." She glared at him, and then smacked him upside the head. I placed me hand over my mouth to try and not show I was laughing. Lisbon smiled at him.
"Okay, I will."
"This is not funny!" Jane told her.
"Thomas, go home and get some rest. We will look for this paper later. Good night Jane."
"Night Jane," I told him walking away. He caught up to me and followed me to the elevator.
"Missy wait!" he told me walking into the elevator. I looked at him and shock my head.
"Yes Jane?" I asked.
"I want to try and unlock that night from your head."
"Now? I don't know Jane, what if it is too much for me to handle?"
"So you want to live your life know that one day or more someone took you and did things to you? That they could have killed you but didn't, and might of told you why? If this was me I would jump at the first chance I had to figure out what happened. Why aren't you?"
"Cause I'm scared to know what they did to me! They could have shoot me, they could have cut me, they could have raped me! I don't know, and I don't know if I want to know. I've heard tales about what they have done to men and women, and I can only hope that they didn't do that to me. If you had the chance to forget the worse day of your life, wouldn't you Jane?"
"No, I wouldn't. Those worse days have keep me going. I know that I have been through worse, and that things can only get better. If I forgot my worse day, then I wouldn't have had a reason to kill Red John when I did."
"Then maybe that is why we are different."
The elevator door opened and I stepped out and looked at him. He looked defeated, and I could have sworn I saw something in him. Like he needed to help me for some odd reason.
"Look Jane, let me think about it, and if I really want to know, then you can try, okay?" I asked him, and he looked me straight in the eye. He walked out of the elevator and grabbed my shoulder.
"Missy please, let me help you," he begged.
"Why is it so important that you help me?"
"Because..."
"Because what?"
"Because you are what I would want my daughter to be like. I can't imagine anyone would want to hurt a sweet girl like you, and the fact someone did makes me what to know what they did and stop them. I have never know anyone to be this close to my skill leave and use them for the same reason I do. I want to know more about you, and help you like you were my daughter. I can't explain it any better, and I want to know why I feel this need to help you. I have always been able to read people like an open book, but you? You are like a book in a forage language I don't know, and I don't like this feeling. I know we only just meant, but I have to know you from somewhere besides here."
"Oh Jane, alright, you can try, but not tonight. I just want some sleep, okay?"
"Alright," he said stepping into the elevator again. I walked out to my car with Jane and the case on my mind.
I feel so joyful now for some reason. Maybe cause we just put the tree up, or maybe cause I got to write in RS today! What ever the reason, I would like you all to look at the picture that I think Missy Thomas looks like. Yet I think the hair would be a lot darker, in fact black, but other then that it is a dead ringer for her. I love it! So let me know what you think, maybe give me a vote or comment? Spread the word if you like, cause I would love that! Peace out my Stars!
